i guess attending a perormance of the messiah was out, as far as dubs were concerned - does anyone know?
I did a search through the 97 wt cdrom. It said nothing negative about the song. In fact it spoke positively about it. This song is probably ok for dubs. If you want the quotes, i will provide.SS
Although I do not have the CDROM, I remember the reference. At the time, I had a vinyl recording of Messiah and I would sing along with it. (My voice was much better in those days!) I can remember feeling vindicated with Big Brother said this music was based entirely on scripture, and therefore OK.
I know several Witnesses in our area who attend the annual December performance of The Nutcracker Suite - deffinitely a Christmas theme!
Keep in mind, during the Baroque period, the primary way music was commissioned and performed was through the Church. We owe them for that, at least.

i disassociated myself about 2 months ago after 15 years of very "faithful" service to the society.i was regular pioneer for 12 years and an elder for 8 years, i served mainly as the service overeer.my experience was published in the 2 of the society's magazins.. as i was a very zealous and prominent elder in my circuit i zealously promoted the organizational rules and i allowed myself to be fully used by the society to promote those mind controle techniques that now i know hurt those who were my sheep.

You will find there are many former elders here; also former pioneers, former zealous publishers, former ministerial servants, and the occasional CO. You are in fine company.
For those of us without the WT CDROM, could someone link your story? I'd love to read it.

i posted this photo last night, but don't think many have seen it, since the thread is now on page 7. we spent time with kin and mary jo suen, in hawaii, where they served for several years in the circuit work.
we stay at a beach house on the north shore of oahu, and they were serving the congregation there while we were there.
we had dinner together and had some good talks during the week too.

Mary Jo was a good friend of my sister, Sisowuzzy. They traveled together once, and my sister really enjoyed getting to know her on a personal level. We heard Kin was involved in some of the stuff that went down around the time R. Franz left.

i recieved news of my fathers untimely death thursday sept. 19. i am not sure who reads these forums but if you are from the northwest of the u.s. and have been in the truth for a conciderable amount of time you will know my father.
for those of you that do not know him i feel obligated to tell you his story.
Your story of your father's tragic life was dificult to read. I was moved by the sadness in your telling of it.

I think most of us tend to disbelieve that any responsible adult could endanger a child. However, upon being constantly faced with this and similar situations, we are forced to know the ugly reality.
"The Society" is just one more example of adults who care more for their own reputation and well-being than they do for innocent children. Nothing about this shocks me anymore, and that in itself says a lot.
Thank you for bringing this letter to our attention, and for your tireless efforts.
