Oh well done Lozhasleft, good for you!! My husband ran his first half marathon last month at the age of 70,he gave up running when he came in the "truth" thirty odd years ago and all that talent went to waste! but like you he is back, and catching up on stolen years,so once again, well done you.

Passed my Post Grad with 'Outstanding' grade! Shows it's never too late.
by Lozhasleft ini've just had the official results on my pgce.
i'm not posting here to boast, but to encourage any who may have abandoned education because of the pressure as a jw, and who may feel that it's too late to return and achieve such goals.
in the 1980s i stopped halfway through my b.ed honours and accepted a dip.h.e.

exJW Psychology 103--Let's Reconsider "Confidentiality"
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inover the course of decades as a jw, an elder, a bethelite, then learning ttatt and wanting to leave, i'd collected a lot of insight into the power of "confidentiality.
" although the confidentiality in a judicial hearing is supposedly to protect the sinner, in actuality, i saw that it was about control and was protecting the power of the jc.. i didn't use any of this knowledge until i was called before the boe because the other elders figured they had grounds to remove me as an elder.
it was a work situation that only lasted a matter of hours, but it was enough that they seized the moment.

We had a friend who was an elder and he was incredibly indiscreet and so was his wife,we were party to all that was happening in the private lives of the brothers and sisters, realy intimate stuff, this elder thought it was so funny and I can remember sitting listening to his "latest shepherding" call, and wondering how long it would be before my family would provide after dinner entertainment for this "prominent" family! Fortunately were open book people with no hidden corners so there was nothing to tell but I locked away a few of his family secrets over the years, now I neither have the inclination, nor the energy, to pour out poison on anyone,my revenge is to be happy and smlie every day,I am damned if I will be like them.

Apostate: From 279 Facebook friends to 81 overnight... thanks MOM!
by sosoconfused inthe drama continues, i log on to facebook this morning and notice that i have about 20 some odd personal messages from people calling me an apostate to they will return to me when i return to jehovah.. all of this based upon my brother informing others that i have "apostate thoughts".
my mother also encourage long-time famil friends to "unfriend" me because i have taken my stand on the side of satan... wow.
don't you just love this international brotherhood.

Dreadful people, everyone here is right, you dont need toxic people like that around you,it will sap your energy, their becoming worse and worse, I thought (whoops) that our thoughts and musings were just that... OURS! This organisation is so bad for people, get them out of your head and then out of your life.

Have The Witnesses Changed All That Much In The Last Few Years?
by minimus inwhen i was in it, especially as a young person, it was rules oriented but not like it is now.
to me, the religion is a lot more fanatical than ever before....what do you think?
is it the same religion even as it was 20 years ago?.

Totally agree with the above. When we came in, in 1975 it was that little bit kinder and certainly more personal,I have watched as the years go by the culture change from this to what it is today a domineering fear inspired organisation (the clues in the word) when any "organisation" tells you stop reading any material that disagrees with their teaching, well that says it all for me,didnt Hitler burn books, and dont some countries punish those who dare to exercise free speech, and we condemn them. Nuff said.

I have just come back home after a walk and a talk with my husband about the whole"truth" thing again, and I said to him "tell me,when was the last time you actualy heard anyone in the congregation use the name,Jesus or Jehovah? all we ever hear now is,the G.body this or the G.B. that", when did we stop worshiping a creator and start worshiping a buch of inflated egotistical old men?? New definition for an apostate?? Anyone who has one single independent thought and dares to actualy articulate it in public! So glad I have walked away.

calling all elders - what goes on at the week long elders school?
by not bitter inmy dad is currently attending a week long elders school.
dad is in his 70's and not in great health at the moment so this is adding to my anger that he is having to leave the house at 7am and doesn't return until 6pm and then has to lock himself away to study further in preparation for the next day.. he has also been told he is not to discuss anything about the school with other elders until they have all attended.
what are they learning about that isnt' already out there for all to read anyway.. they can't be learning more bible stuff as the bible is there to be read by the general public so i can only assume that its all top secret stuff that the rest of the congregation can't know about.

We had the first birthday party in 36 years, for my husband this weekend (70th can you believe that?) and it was great and another ex witness unexpectedly turned up, and oddly enough despite being OUT for over two years now I admit to everyone here (but not to the family) that I felt slightly guilty, cant explain it just did. We had loads of new "normal" friends around,oh yes and....I now dont trust anyone nor do I expect anything and remain pleasantly surprised when good things come my way. I think were all a bit damaged now. Still life is good.
