I am totally confoused who is the Faithful and Discreet Slave Class?
by booker-t ini have been hearing and reading on websites about some "new light" jws are saying concerning the faithful and discreet slave class.
it sounds like the same information they have been saying for years.
i was always taught the faithful and discreet slave class is the annoited governing body members dispensing food at the proper time for the non annoited jws.

I have just this minute had a brother from the congregation here and he told me that the eight members of the governing body are annointed. True? False? tell me, I cant believe that they can claim that given their ages.

Jehovahs Witnesses and psychiatric diagnoses?
by Marvin Shilmer injehovahs witnesses and psychiatric diagnoses?.
today i added a new article to my blog sharing information from a 1983 study published in the journal for the scientific study of religion addressing religious affiliation and psychiatric diagnoses.
this article pulls information from an excellent academic study that is often misunderstood and therefore underutilized for its value.

In the congregation we attended, there were an inordnate amount of individuals on anti depressants it was almost a badge of honour. We had one young woman,a daughter of an elder, who had a history of self harm, two young brothers from the same family,on anti psychotic medication, one pioneer sister with mental health issues and another regular seeing a counselor,it became commonplace to ask the question "how are you now?" because so many had non specific illnessess, you lost count. We used to joke about all these health problems,"were getting out before they make sickness compulsory" for people who lived for the new system where sickness would be a thing of the past, they seemed to enjoy being ill.The vast majority of working age members were on some kind of sickness benefit from the government, quite shameful. At one time we counted the number of working brothers (no sister ever went out to work) and only four out of fifty five were in full time employ.

I ignored my closest friend when she was disfellowshipped. The day we said goodbye we wept in each others arms because we both knew that this was the end,we had been such good friends and she and her family holidayed with us every year,it was a dreadful time, yet once again I thought we were doing what God wanted us to do. How utterly unforgivable. I did try to contact her last year when I decided that this organisation was poisonous and destructive, she was polite, but rejected our apology, and lets face it,who could blame her. What God of love would ever ask us to treat others so,how arrogant that we think we are so much better than any other sinner. I hang my head in shame at my past pious behavour.

Anything that keeps our "economy" off the agenda is good for the government!! I bought a frozen pizza the other day and the ingredients came from four different countries and the item was actually made on Germany!! This pizza had never seen the sunny hills of Italy! and guess what? it tasted like rubbish too...Pizza recipe pleez.

Well what a brave girl you have been eyesropen, theres nothing worse than not knowing where you are, you cant move forward and you cant go back either, because you now recognise just what this "society" stands for. I simply cannot believe that a loving God wants us to walk past our children in the street just because they do not wish to share our beliefs,no,no, that cant be right! Stick with the bible. They are fond of saying "leave it with Jehovah" which I always felt was a cop out for not dealing with things, but now when they do speak to me I always say to them, "well we are content to leave it with Jehovah" that usually ends the coversation. Good luck.
