My wife and I have wrestled with that same thought at various times after we left the "truth",and the only thing that has convinced us we did the right thing is to think like a devout witness.What I`m getting at is this,you have to look at 'THE BIG PICTURE'.If you look at the basic beliefs of the Society it all boils down to one thing and one thing ONLY, if you are not a Jehovahs Witness in the time of the end you and your loved ones are going to die.Really think about that for a moment.There are roughly 6 billion people on this ball of dirt and according to the witnesses they are they only ones who have been chosen to live! When you look at the big picture, that to me just can`t be right.What about all the good people on earth who do so much for their fellow man? Mother Theresa? Ding!! Your out!! What about the heart surgeon who has dedicated his life to save people he doesnt even know? sorry mister,you were too busy to take our magazines on Saturday morning,too bad for you! What about the mentally handicapped people? What about all those volunteers who are at the WTC trying to find the victims so that the families can bury their loved ones and get the closure they need? There are alot of people on this earth who are complete wastes of skin, but by and large the majority are good folks stumbling along trying to be good parents, brothers, sisters etc.And in the big picture of the witnesses they don`t stand a chance...

the reason i ask is that what happened to danni and her partner will be talked about for ages at that particular hall.
when i was about 16 i once saw 2 brothers arguing over who would take the service group that weekend.the whole congregation was about as quiet as a mouse pissing on a cottonball!

It was so cool!These 2 dinks were yelling back and forth at each other and I`m sure alot us were hoping for a fist fight.It ended when the one "brother"(Man! do I hate using that term!) dropped his microphone on the floor and walked out.The elder that this dude was arguing with was on stage at the time and gave some lame excuse about unity and blahblahblah.I also saw a elder so drunk one time that he had to cancel giving a talk and he was at the MEETING!!!A few too many for the nerves you say? No he was just a drunk and everyone knew it.There has to be a few good stories out there....

i have over a dozen questions to ask them, they are short and to the point.
if anyone want to give any last minute advice i am listening.

Hey Danni! Boy are you brave lass!! Most of us could`nt wait to leave that goofy bunch of dinks and you want to wade into the fray!! If I were you I would wear your uniform.It would take some of superiority from them and put you on a more level playing field.There will be more than one elder or ministerial servant there (that is someone who has`nt fully reached "spiritual maturity" but still dresses bad..white socks with dress shoes,that is an inside joke).They WILL turn your questions into a big gang save,trying to preach to you and still make you feel that your questions were answered.Even though they will not say it, their true intention when meeting someone like you is to convert you.Ask them point blank if they would give their blessing to this relationship with this "brother" even if you decide not to become a witness.There will be bible pages flapping faster than you can draw your own sidearm!!They will answer questions with a question trying to make their beliefs sound reasonable.Just stick to the format that you have laid out for yourself,and don`t let them stray from each specific question.The elders and MS`s that are going to be there are probably having a fist fight right now to see who is going head up this sheepfest!!Just take it easy and don`t let them turn things around,but be prepared that you may be more confused that ever..just my thoughts....good luck

i have been part of the wts for 20 years my parents believed they had found the truth when i was 10 and from then on we hung to every word uttered from the platform at the kingdom hall.
my wife was a witness brought up in the wts all her life so the wts was a massive part of all our familes lives from parents to brothers and sisters.

I remember as a kid sitting on the front porch with the orange "Paradise" book telling my school chums that the end is near and if you are not a J.W, buildings are gonna fall on you and kill you!!That was over 30 years ago!!Remember that book?!! Then there is the picture of the lion licking the lamb being so nice....give me break!! Lets no forget that lions have insisors designed to rip flesh and hold prey!! What happened Jehovah? did you forget how you made your own animals? Hey Danni!! I have to agree with the bulk of the posters on this thread,watch your heart very carefully.This person that you are interested in may be in a slump (witnesswise).His meeting attendance may be lacking and he may have some doubts about the "truth".He may be wanting to have a taste for the "world" and you just maybe his "test".The witnesses constantly remind each other that getting involved with someone out the organisation is wrong in Jehovah`s eyes,"being unevely yoked" is the term.The witnesses are so blinded by their beliefs and power structure that relationships other than those condoned by the organisation have a slim chance for success.If you do decide to pursue this relationship and he still wants to be a witness be prepared for some tough roads ahead.My advice....run don`t walk away from this guy.Just my opinion...
