Egyptology was a main theme for early WT writings and the 'Wings of Isis' are embossed in gold on the covers of the early books, I have one, an original copy from Russell's day and it goes on and on about Pyramids, with illustrations, I should scan it and post it here, unless thats just old news.

Watchtower falsification of its history
by jwfacts ini received an email with the following information that is worth sharing.. the 2011 yearbook goes to great lengths to elevate the truthfulness of watchtower information in even minor details, and criticise information from other sources.
so it is telling that the 2010 "jehovah's witnesses - faith in action, part 1" has omitted an important element of their history when re-enacting the 1922 cedar point convention.. under the heading "tracing all things with accuracy" the 2011 yearbook states: .
"jesus said that the faithful slave would be discreet in giving the domestics "their food at the proper time.

The cross and crown is benign compared to then early books and studies in the scriptures that have the Wings of ISIS embossed in gold on the book covers, to tie into all the Egyptology that Russell wrote volumes about, calling the Great Pyramid, Jehovah's Wittness in Stone This reference gave the idea to change the name of the group from Bible Students to Jehovah's Wittnesses, so in reality, its a name derived from Russel's fascination with Pyramids.

I read somewhere that a large percentage of JW converts are former Catholics.
I personally know one and she sounds just your mom.
The first thing she asked when she got baptized was " What are the Rules?" She was all about the rules. Like a good nun. She treats the governing body like the Pope. She weeps when she sees anybody on the platform who was or is GB. This kind of idea of what religion is, draws people into all kinds of cults. Its like feeling "safe" because you don't have to reason or figure things out anymore, just follow the rules and "obey the leaders", no matter what they say.
Its comforting to a lot of people. They feel "special" "protected" "safe". They also have the idea that the JW's are the only ones who live "moral lives" and without the GB "protecting" them they would just fall apart and go running down the street naked and fall into all kinds of evil. And yet all around them are moral and orderly people, living stable and productive lives, who are not in the "truth". Treat her gently. You may be frightening her.

Stupidology and its findings
by Terry insince the early 1800's in america a number of new religions have appeared.. the church of jesus christ of latter day saints (mormons), christian science, jehovah's witnesses, scientology, etc.. there are elements in common.. some individual makes unprovable claims, untestable assertions and crafts unusual doctrines which dovetail in some ways with established beliefs while.
simultaneously and radically replacing them.. mormons produce a better and purer revelation in their book of mormon.. scientologists piggy-back off of psychiatry and gnosticism while inventing a new technology which eliminates infestations by alien beings trapped inside humans.. jehovah's witnesses claim leadership by a governing body as a sole channel of communicating escape plans from the imminent war of god on humans.. and so forth.... .
practioners of these religions must sooner or later grapple with disproofs which include discoveries made public of lies, misrepresentations and duplicity.. yet, the majority of adherents selectively dismiss such revelations as a test of their own faith and an opportunity to demonstrate solidarity.. a close examination of this self-reinforced refusal to confront disputatious rebuttal of doctrine i choose to call stupidology.. .

The United Nations Commission on Human Rights, considers the recanting of a person's religion a human right legally protected by the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights:
The Committee observes that the freedom to 'have or to adopt' a religion or belief necessarily entails the freedom to choose a religion or belief, including the right to replace one's current religion or belief with another or to adopt atheistic views [...]Article 18.2[5] bars coercion that would impair the right to have or adopt a religion or belief, including the use of threat of physical force or penal sanctions to compel believers or non-believers to adhere to their religious beliefs and congregations, to recant their religion or belief or to convert.

Penal Sanctions(shunning) ORIGIN late Middle English: from Old French penal, from Latin poenalis, from poena ‘pain, penalty.’

How many of you followed the WTS direction on education years ago and have been screwed by it?
by Julia Orwell ini'm really interested in this question because i've heard for years that if you forgo further education and go pioneering, when you have a family down the track you will get a good job because jehovah will provide for you because you pioneered.
as long as i was a kool-aid drinker, even then, i thought, "how does pioneering pay your bills?
surely education should come first.

I was a single mom, so, already one strike against me in the congregation - Then I had the audacity to go to university and be a single mom at the same time. I got my BA degree and when I wanted to go on for the teaching credential, my "best friend" in the Borg put up such a fuss I relented and I started an after school program and ran summer camps and nearly killed myself with work. You are smart to have that teaching credential, and if you are still under 45 or so go back for the MA and the PhD if you can - the best life is a tenured professor at any college .

But - having said that - If a group of you go and partake of the wine and bread with the idea you are doing this to honor Jeus Christ and to be part of the Body of Christ and the universal priesthood of all believers everywhere in every religion whose hearts only God himself can read, if that is your intention, then I am sure the Holy Spirit will be with you.

NO. But - If I did I - would drink the wine and eat the bread, Wait- Take that back - no I would not- since neither Jehovah's Spirit, or Jesus Christ will attend, who would I be fellowshipping with? The workers of lawlessness who call themselves the governing body, and who really are the Man of Lawlessness standing in the Holy Place. To whom Jesus says " Get away from me you workers of lawlessness, I never knew you at all" These men are dangerous, they put themselves in the place of the Christ, to attend their memorial is treading where Angels fear to go.

You do know you can hide your IP address ? Even Google will not recognize you. HMA and other such services will fool facebook and any search engine by assigning you a remote IP in a different country.
