lest we forget -- joseph rutherford, the man who wrote "millions now living will never die," has been dead more than 70 years now....
notjustyet - ?? Rutherford predicted the resurrection of old prophets,
like Isaiah and Jeramiah. Rutherford said this resurrection of the
prophets of the Hebrew scriptures would happen in 1925.
This was not a vague or perhaps, or maybe, or symbolic prediction,
it was so literal, and concrete that millions od dollars were spent
to buy land in San Diego and build, not a middle class home,
But a palace, a mansion. Rutherford had this palace built
and called it Beth Sarim, and it is still there today.
Rutherford lived in this palace and drove the most expensive
cars and wore a top hat and called himself "Judge" even though
he never was a real judge, only a second rate lawyer. This was
in the 1930's in the midst of the worst economic depression the
world had ever seen , where people actullay starved to death in
what is now know as the Great Depression. Unlike other
churches, the Watchtower did no relief work or soup lines and
helped no one during the Depression, as people starved in the USA.
"it is the concept of original sin that negates morality.. if man is guilty by nature, he has no choice about it.. if he has no choice, the issue does not belong in the field of morality.
morality pertains only to the sphere of man's free will -- only to those actions which are open to his choice.. to consider man guilty by nature is a contradiction in terms.".
augustine had the mistaken view that many metaphysicians had at that time: all humans were "nested" inside of adam like those russian dolls that fit inside each other.
John Calvin, French Theologian, laid the basis for much nonsense.
He believed in pre-destination, and today we see it echoed in many
fundamentalist churches who insist "God has a plan for your life"
Every action was fated to happen. Its a Greek in origin. Fate.
Destiny. Determinism. Islam also believes this.
As apposed to the evangelicals who believe the term saint
applies to all. The original Christian usage refered to all
who were "in Christ" Again the Roman Catholics are more like
the Jehovah's Witnesses, who think only special people are annointed
instead of the idea of everybody being one in Christ. The WT is as
obsessed with hiearchy as the Catholic Church. I expect eventually
the governing body will adopt special costumes as well.
Now there is a project, designing costumes for the governing body.
where do jehovah's witnesses get all their contrary ideas and doctrines?.
isn't it directly from heaven because they are "anointed" and have been selected as jehovah's channel of communication?.
hell no!.
My impression is, from attending and listening to various churches to find out
what they believed, that most main stream evangelical Christians,
and not so mainstream, all seem to believe that everybody is annointed
with Holy Spirit, just because they are believers,
that the simple act of belief makes them annointed.
Only the JW's have the idea that being annointed is for
some special group leadership only. Its not the same meaning.
Many other religions believe they get annointed every time they get together,
in a group, and especially when they take communion, symbolizing oneness.
It very much seems to be about oneness, with each other and with God.
The word takes on a different meaning as used by the WT and Kingdom Hallers,
JW's seem to think its some magical and frightening "claim" of being "set apart"
as opposed to being united in one body. The JW view is; that to "claim"
to be annointed is associated not with blessing and unity but with
claiming a grandiose station you don't qualify for. Grandiose meaning;
an unrealistic sense of superiority, (therefore insanity)
Its more of the same, the WT is a theology of disempowerment.
The JW theology is not a spiritual mindset and that is seen by
how little they love other people.
i bought a large container of strawberries.
my daughter is disfellowshipped.
may i consider it "necessary family business" to give her some of them to share with my grandchildren?
My daughter is disfellowshipped.
May I consider it "necessary family business"
to give her some of them to share with my grandchildren?
Really ?? This IS a joke right ??
You hang out here?? with disfellowshipped people?? and
you are seriously wondering about "sharing stuff with
you own disfelloshipped daughter" ???
You are shunning her????
If you are - then shame on YOU
Grow up ,be a parent, stupid WT rules
so, i put this under 'social' ;) they aren't exactly sure how.. .
' having a neighborly chat improves seed germination, finds research in biomed central's open access journal bmc ecology.
even when other known means of communication, such as contact, chemical and light-mediated signals, are blocked chilli seeds grow better when grown with basil plants.
There was a whole legitimate PBS and Knowledge Network Science Doc
on this phenomenon with TREES in forests. For real.
They actually injected a "mother" tree with some traceble dye and she/it the tree
was sending nutients out to her seedings and nurturing them. Formerly scientists
assumed all plants were in competition with each other, (they must have been confusing
plants with people). Oak trees know their own acorns. True, proven, observed science.
I am beginning to think humans may be God's only failure and that we upset the whole
balance of the system, hmmm well that sounds about right.
if you own a company or small business, will you hire a jw over a non-jw?
did you find jws more productive than non-jws and more honest and outgoing for your business expansion?
the watchtower tries to state that jws are in high demand because of their honesty, you think the world is smarting up and realizing they are just regular people who follow men?
I know a manager of a large complex, here, a JW elder,
he is sexist, talks down to women, is deceptive,
leading you to believe he is your advocate,
and then pulling the rug out from under you.
The Watchtower teaches dishonety
because the governing body is dishonest,
the Watchtower teaches sexism and
male dominence over women.
The Watchtower never, ever, says they are sorry,
or accepts blame for their own mistakes or
resposibilty for harm to others,
their followers are the same,
disloyal, untrustworthy, dishonest.
Do not hire them if you value your business or your sanity.
not trying to sound like a conpiracy nut...but just read this article:.

is this just a lot of talk?
- The Economist -
Hyperinflation in America, a possibility, Yes, America occasionally budgets recklessly. But it has a very deep, very broad, and very strong civil society, buttressed by levels upon levels of private and public, formal and informal institutions. These institutions, and many like them across rich economies, are generally very good at preventing governments from doing disastrous things. To extrapolate from the admittedly ugly scene on Capitol Hill to hyperinflation is to misunderstand what it is, fundamentally, that makes American democracy work: a strong system of civil, social, and political norms that defines acceptable political behaviour and which reacts strongly to deviations from that behaviour.
To put things a different way: Paul Ryan is wrong that bad budgeting will lead to hyperinflation. It won't. Bad budgeting will eventually lead to circumstances, most likely higher interest rates, that convince legislators to end bad budgeting (or to budget badly in a different way). The fact that Mr Ryan is left warning about hyperinflation rather than leading the charge for the new, better bad budget simply suggests that his approach is less consistent with the norms American civil society holds dear than available alternatives.

WRONG parakeet
That is an uninformed and inaccurate statement. Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi,
liberation theologians of Africa, anti-apartheid, social gospel driven action groups.
Wherever there were evil men using religion to oppress there were good men/women
opposing them and they were not atheists they were people of faith.
