People of faith, seeking release from the bondage of the Watchtower
are harmed by this site. They are beaten up and sent packing.
let's be serious - if you really want people to have faith and to be able to now absolute truth why not perform miracles.
why not make the bible a blank book and when you open it, it addresses you personally in writing of course.
for instance it says, "hey confusedandalone this is what i need you to do.

If you have no family to lose, then do as you please.
Its following the rules of the WT, but may be you want
to "say something" to them. Any information or opinion or
research you give them will be used against you of course.
But if you already have your eyes on a better place then make
the clean break, at least its honest.
once you realize ttatt, how can anyone with half a brain, go back??.
.
The motivations are tribal.
Its their tribe, the place they know how to function.
Men are elevated beyond their station in the "outside" that is a huge
motivation for men. They become "instant executives" they wear a suit and tie
even if in their work they are janitors and looked down on, in the Kingdom Hall they are able
to feel like big shots. The women like getting dressed up and having somewere to go.
They feel "protected" in the Tribal structure. Its about self importance. Stand For PW is an
example. Thinking you are with "succsessful" "special" people, and part of a insulated and
protected 'insiders club '. Some have waited too long to leave completely and do not know
how to function successfully in the outside world. If you have no real career; Engineer, Doctor,
Lawyer, Teacher, Marine Biologist, etc etc etc, if you are working part time and your poverty is
is lauded by the "brothers" because you are a "pioneer" the outside world is daunting, fearful.
Outside; you are an uneducated poor person with no skills, no future, no friends, no money mainly.
Inside you are; "hanging on till the new system" "serving the kingdom interests".
It takes a support system, re-training and a new set of friends to make it on the outside.
Its all social. Tribal if you will.
The same as a lost South American Tribe who is living in the jungle thinking that is the entire universe,
naked, painting their body, living in trees or huts, surrounded by a tribe and following tribal rituals that
fills their lives. Take that person to Los Angeles, and how would they feel ? They are terrified, they want
to go home. Its not an easy transition. Witnesses are less than .01 percent of the world population
with an exaggerated opinion of themselves. Like a lost tribe who thinks their life is the only life possible and
their view of the universe represents reality.
an average of five kingdom halls being constructed daily, almost 8 million brothers and sisters, dissemination of bible literature in 595 languages, 111,795 congregations worldwide, distribution of 179 million bibles available in 116 languages, 239 countries where jehovah's witnesses have a presence, etc.. need i go on?.
on the other hand........... crisis of conscience, freeminds, the awaa, jw.net, ummmmmm........hmmm........idk six screens or something?
not exactly working out for you guys.
SFPW Don't know where to begin -
a manual for creating atheists offers the first-ever guide not for talking people into faith--but for talking them out of it.
peter boghossian draws on the tools he has developed and used for more than twenty years as a philosopher and educator to teach how to engage the faithful in conversations that will help them value reason and rationality, cast doubt on their religious beliefs, mistrust their faith, abandon superstition and irrationality, and ultimately embrace reason.
- amazon.... "boghossian has provided an indispensible chart book for all of us who must navigate the rising sea of magical thinking that is inundating america today.
You provide no rest or spiritual refuge and so you defeat
your own purpose, which is to provide a way out to sincere
hearts, seeking a way to worship without the WT, and feel safe
you all make it unsafe for them by mockery and your own
brand of shunning.
can i ask for your opinion?
i have been disfellowshipped and divorced for a few years.
my ex-wife and my daughter have cut off all contact from me.
Go to court, fight to gain visitation rights, if you are in California
or most States or Canada you have rights of visitation and no religion can
override this. Who knows one day your kind and generous and loving conduct
may save your child from the WT society and free your daughter when she gets older.
Don't be vengeful or resentful or neglectful, stand up, be a man, and that means take
responsibility for your daughter and fight for her in court. Its amazing how appearing
in court and having a Judge order your wife to give you custody on specified times,
will have an effect on her. She is already trained to obey authority figures.
You can do it. Do not back down, let your daughter know you are fighting for her.
Lots of fathers turn their back on their children, then blame the ex-wife.
Your wife does not count here, its not her you need to see, its your daughter.
You cannot jerk your wife around to do what you want her do, and she cannot
deny you access to your daughter, get it straight what this is about.
Its not about punishing your ex-wife, though many men do that.
You need to support your offspring and you need access to your daughter.
i found a copy of this book in my childs room at my home.
i am not a jw but their other parent is.. .
should i be concerned.
I was 14 and my parents were not JW's and opposed my
going to meetings with a friend I met at junior high school.
The friend was a wittness and her mother took me to an assembly
gave me a bathing suit to wear and all I remember was standing
in line to go into the pool. Then I was fearful not to go to meetings,
and one thing led to another and I married a wittness 11 almost 12 years
older than me, when I was barely 18 and then spent 7 miserable years
married to him and when I left him I was disfellowshipped.
So - yeah pay attention - lives are often pivotal on one unnoticed
event that their parents may not even know about.
i don't recall jesus ever once telling people that they should even read the bible to find god.. he said nothing about 'taking in knowledge' either.. .
he didn't encourage people to read the bible because 90% of people in his day couldn't read!
the bible was not read by most people, it was -heard- when someone else read it aloud.
J esus, commented " Who of you when he builds a
tower does not first calculate the expense...."
This involved mathematicas and lists of materials
and building plans. Jews have always been
the most literate, because they base their whole
system of worship on the written Law and
debate its fine points in Temple. Reading Torah was required.
Scrolls were available to all in the Temple and rich people had their own.
Jesus went into the Temple and picked up the scroll of
Isaiah and began reading from it, this was common practice.
Jews also washed themselves, because it is required in the Law,
this also made them unusual in the ancient world and odd
to Europeans through and up until about the 19th century
when bathing caught on.

Even as today ancient Jews taught their children how to read the Law.
Ancient historians remark on this The Law..orders that they shall be taught to read,
and shall learn both the laws and the deeds of their forefathers,
in order that they may imitate the latter, and, bring grounded in the former,
may neither transgress nor have any excuse for being ignorant of them."
Every Jewish child must read the Torah in Hebrew even today and this has
been going on for thousands of years. Jesus was 12 in the Temple arguing
the law with adults, but the fact he had read the Law was not unusual.
my mother found some old jw records a couple of months ago, they apparently were what the dubs used to use when they were witnessing, theyd go out with a record player and play these records to people to preach to them.. just wondering if anyone else has any of these?
im guessing theres probly not that many of them around, i think i have about 6 or so of them and they are quite old, (im at work at the moment so i cant really tell you any more about them) i was thinking that i mite sell them on ebay, maybe ill get a bit of cash for them.. .
sam87..
T he wittnesses in those days were called Colporteurs.
They went from house to house carrying wind up phonograph players
and played the records to the householders.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church calls their book distributors
"Literature Evangelists", but until about 1980, the term "colporteur"
was used to describe SDA literature evangelists.
Also, Jehovah's Witnesses who were active in the full-time ministry
were called colporteurs until 1931.
They carried phonograph or gramaphone record players.
Today, those participating in the full-time ministry are called "pioneers".
These records are historical pieces and should be donated or sold to
a theological library, like Regents in BC.
