  Would You Become A JW Again If Local Congregations Could Become Independent?

  for those who still believe in god, if local congregations could break away from the watchtower would you consider becoming a witness again.

  this would mean no more governing body, circuit overseers, watchtower magazines, and each congregation could have its own "new light".

  most of us left because of the control (no college, disfellowsipping) but if the watchtower was out of the picture, all of this would disappear.

  Space Madness - I still believe in God - and that is precisely why I

  would never go back to the Kingdom Hall and the false doctrines

  of the Watchtower Society. The central core doctrine is that a special

  group of men called the Governing Body decide what you will believe

  right up to requiring your child to die if they forbid the medical treatment.

  The doctrines are wrong, all wrong. Jesus is not an angel for one.

  144,000 is a symbolic number used to prevent people from being part

  of the Body of Christ, this is a major belief, thats why you don't

  partake at the Memorial. Shunning people is a major controller.

  No charities, no higher education, reading Watchtowers ?

  What exactly do you envision these meetings woud entail without all

  the books and magazines ? or the "governing body" ?

  There are other places to worship, happy places.

  .. the new wbt$ donation arrangement/ jw kingdom hall bank account theft... is a very hot topic right now... the wbt$ is literally going to clean out kingdom hall bank accounts,filled with donations from jws... that theft is going to happen world wide..the wbt$ is going to steal from 7 million plus jw`s... .. we have jw elders here on jwn,that know whats going on... they "serve" in kingdom halls,they are "supposed" to be looking after the welfare of the average jw... they know there is a 4 page letter,only one page will be read to the congregation..the rest will be kept secret... they know the wbt$ is about to steal jw donations..on a world wide scale!!!...

  .. i would like to know what you active jw elders are going to do about this??!!...

  are you going to let "your" congregation know about the other 3 secret pages?...

  I don't see that happening. The money will be going to a "greater good." When the publishers donated, they were giving the money to be used by Jehovah. I don't think there will be any groundswell of dissent at all. The active ones I've spoken to have indicated that they see it as a loving arrangement

  This sends a shudder up my spine because I have seen it before, they are

  never truthful, they never say they are sorry and they never admit wrong.

  Thats the Watchtower Society and the "glorious one" The Governing Body.

  They are fearless in their arrogance. The greater good? My eye, they do no good

  for anyone, ever. "loving arrangement" ? How blind are these publishers?

  But I fear what Stillin says is true. Its deja vu , all over again.

  greetings to all who surf shark-infested internet waters.. after i was hit by ransomware the other day, i did research on so-called safe sites.

  it seems more and more sites are being infected deliberately by hackers.

  i went to a legit-looking site on a famous artist and -- wham!

  Your on an iMac ? Microsoft solutions will NOT work on a Mac OS

  How old is your computer ? I own two Macs and have alyways owned

  them and if yours is a recent model and running at least, Lion 10.7.5

  it should have built in firewalls. What Browsers do you use ?

  Since its a Mac then I am astounded. I have had Macs since the i980's

  and I never once got a virus or hacked. I am on a 27" iMac 2012

  right now. It may have to do with your provider not having proper firewalls.

  You can set preference in your browser as well. Did this come in an email?

  You know the rule - don't open unknown sources who email you with offers.

  You can call Apple as well since the PC safety stuff is not Macintosh relevant.

  Are you running Microsoft Windows over the Mac OS ? In that case you could

  be vulnerable to viruses, because of the Microsoft product, I would suggest

  you disable and uninstall any Microsoft product.

  Simon - excellent point - The Watchtower Organization, Governing Body, Elders,

  have no problem publically naming, announcing publically, and publically

  pointing out people and "warning" others about any who violate non-sexual rules

  about "daring to disagree" with the WT teachings, or to brand as bad associations

  or to hand down edicts to shun children or parents as "bad associations" to be shunned.

  Or to publically humiliate "fornicators" who are both consenting adults.

  But they protect the "rights" of pedophiles to operate undetected and free ?

  america had passed into a new era that would lead to major changes.

  The catholic church survived because most Catholics feel free to go to church without devoting their entire life to the religion or being forced to agree or face expulsion. JWS do not have this option. Being a catholic requires minimal sacrifice. being a jw requires enormous sacrifice.

  kneehighmiah - This is a valid point and I agree. Small cults will always exist. And money is a big factor.

  Money and real estate. But as a mass movement, I believe it is doomed in this information age.

  It becoames increasingly absurd when the "society" and the "governing body" and their bizarre

  belief system comes under scrutiny as it does on the internet. The present appeal is a closed society

  that promises that group isolation means safety. The feelings of superiority only appeal to those

  with serious neurotic issues. Catholics are mainstream because they embrace so many other aspects

  that are positive for the participants. Catholicism is hindered by its insistance on celibacy, its medieval

  priesthood and its views on women in general. But in spite of that, they have a strong charity aspect.

  They also have great architecture and have supported the greatest artists and artisans throughout

  history. Thier views on science and the fact they burned people at the stake was their watchtower era.

  anyone else get the distinct impression that jws are being worked up into a frenzy with all the changes and activity nowadays?

  by the end of august, there will have been four campaigns inside of a year.

  one last november, a memorial campaign, a convention campaign and an advertise jw.org campaign.. then there's the conventions with all the hooplah around that with all the video, and the aggrandizement of synchronized gb talks.

  Awakenyr2004 - The power the mind has to keep us trapped in self destructive

  belief systems and toxic relationships is a constant wonder to me too.

  Yet there I was, dragging my innocent child through her childhood in that cult.

  I sympathize with those that are fearfully stuck, knowing something is not right,

  but locked into the cycle, the culture, may be a better word, the group-think,

  the sense of "belonging". People need to see the light at the end of the tunnel,

  the fact that there is hope and safety and spirituality on the "outside" that they

  are the ones in the dark room starving to death and abundance and Grace are

  waiting for them. "The truth will set you free" are the words of Jesus.

  The "truth" about the Watchtower Society is they are anti-Christ and a cult.

  Scared I'll Never be Happy Again

  so it's' been 8 months since i was disfellowshiped.

  i moved out of my mothers house accross the country to room with a friend.

  things have been going ok, it's just strange to be so far away from everything that felt familiar, even the meetings.

  FIND YOUR WORK - stop wallowing in idleness and do something

  to improve yourself mentally, intellectually. Start a new journey.

  Not being a jw is not just getting drunk and dying your hair purple.

  Its finally being able to have a real life and use what brains you have

  to really do something. You are young, select a serious and actual goal.

  Examples : (1) You decide to become a nurse. You take action.

  You go to a college and start going full time. Get grants and financial

  aid and throw yourself into accomplishing this by hard work.

  (2) You decide to become a : teacher, web site designer, architect,

  engineer, marine biologist, airline pilot, artist, etc tec etc in other

  words - plan your own 40 year future. Make some good money doing

  what you love to do. Be successful. Travel. Join other groups doing things

  you love to do. Explore, experience all the wonderful opportunities there

  are. Lift up your head and look ahead.

  Taking my sister to church this Sunday!!!

  so yesterday i stopped by my sisters home and decided to just hang out and shoot the breeze... she was telling me that since she has stopped going to the kingdom hall (the last 9 months) she still looks for things to do on sunday.

  she feels she should go and do something and she likes the idea of church.

  it seems fun and will giove her a place to meet people.

  Just relax and listen and enjoy the experience.

  There is usually a music team and lots of singing.

  Try out different churches every Sunday till one feels

  right for you, its an adventure. You will find a higher level

  of spirituality and no connection to "literature" .

  What a relief.

  JWgonebad - Where do I begin ? The WT uses every bit of technology

  it can get its hands on. Satan is not behind everything outside the Watchtower.

  The Watchtower is anti-Christ, a false religion, liars and thieves of your life.

  The "Governing Body" is not who they say they are. They are just eight old men.

  Its a Cult.
