about almost everything: how life will be in the new world ordertm, how and when armageddon is going to happen, whether the latest newspaper headline really signals that armageddon is about to start, what the latest new lighttm is going to be, and on and on.. so heres something to also speculate about.
suppose that jehovah paid a personal visit to the wts leaders and said, .
1984....At last a prophecy of the last century would have come true....albeit not the WTBS variety..
Perhaps an antitypical fulfillment....
Some of the older publications speculate on how instructions would be given out over loud speakers by Abraham...'Attention brothers'..as he flew around the world in a society jet..
The New World Society(tm)was something I always feared...

Remember what we always used to be told.....Don't make friends with the world,but find 'true friends'in 'Jehovah's organisation.Yeah sure.....who'll drop you like a smelly turd as soon as you ask challenging questions about the WTBS or their religion.......
For the average dub,a friend 'in need' is a pain in the ass....Remember the glazed look kingdom smile,I still have memeories of that fixed on some people's faces.
Then one day you realize what you suspected was true all along...nothing but a con.One of the more sickening of the many realisations that cross your mind..Good post rem.

The simplest personal advice would be don't become one.But I shall be impartial....Firstly look at different sites concerning JW's,there are many here who are no longer JW's but there are also some who are.Listen to the points and subjects raised and research well.
You will for certain be warned by your study conductor not to read anything which criticizes JW's.DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU WHAT YOU CAN OR CAN'T READ.....If they do they have something to hide.I would advise that you read Ray Franz's books 'Crisis of Conscience' and 'In Search Of Christian Freedom' and James Penton's 'Apocalypse Delayed'.
You should research into the origins of the organization,and by all means read Watchtower literature especially the older ones to see the numerous flip flops on doctrine.
Watch out for the love bombing too.You are an ever decreasing commodity in their eyes and they will be eager to catch you.Finally if you have any questions I am sure anyone here on the board would be glad to answer them...

last weekend we had dinner with my wife's family.
they had just "enjoyed" their circuit assembly.. their circuit met in two halves over two weeks (avoids the mad scramble to the dining room that way).
total baptized for the entire circuit (a city circuit)?

I used to be at Bowes Rd for circuit assemblies in the 1990's.Were you in the Greek section?Not many got baptized then but at least 8 - 10 normally so it shows how their sources are drying up and they are haemorrhaging badly in the UK.....

I remember studying this with an elder and DO and bringing up the point about WW1 starting in August 1914 and GT's ending in October 1914.They had no answer to it except to say that it was a trick by Satan to divert attention from the GT's ending...[8>]

Hi Gang,
I would recommend both 'Crisis of Conscience' and 'In Search Of Christian Freedom',having read both of them.The arguments are well supported by a plethora of material,including much of the WTBS's own literature.Also,James Penton's 'Apocalypse Delayed' is a very good history into the roots of the WTBS.
Any doubts about leaving will quickly dissipate into the air...

(i think you'll see how different it is from jw upbringing) i think you'll find that you could raise a very balanced and emotionally stable child following these guidelines.
Thanks for that LDH.We can be happy that our children will not be held prisoners mentally of anti social teachings designed to make them appear superior and different from others.They will learn compassion and fairness to others without discrimination and it will be based on their love for others as people rather than for fear of displeasing any deity.
Enjoy life now as much as you are able and do your utmost to make it enjoyable for others.....

there is a phenomenon in dub dom that i have always hated.
the circuit/district convention.. people will spend hard earned money, use up any vacation they may have to travel to a city they don't really have any particular reason to see to sit for entire days and listen to the same b.s.
they could sit and listen to at the meetings in their home kingdom hall.
Comfort for the plebs was the last thing on the mind of convention organisers especially at District Assemblies.Often a part of the stadium which had been hired would not be used so that the attendees could be crammed in to give the appearance that the stadium was packed.
So a stadium which could easily accommodate 40,000 for a rugby match struggled to accommodate half that many JW's.Foresight could have avoided this problem but after all they'd only been going there 40+ years so maybe hadn't had time to work it out....[8&>].
Dealing with families was also a hassle,again not enough thought given to where they would go.Over the years,it was evident that JW's were less tolerant of the administration and especially so of little Hitler attendants blocking their way or sticking ''silence'' signs in their face.
Having been to larger football matches it is clear that they are better run than these assemblies with a lot less preparation needed.

why does it seem that fornication is the only "real" sin in the jw religion?
i mean people can slander, be gluttonous, get drunk and have unethical business practices, but god forbid you should have a little sex.
Simply speaking because sex is fun and they can't control it,and that's what they don't like being unable to do,control other people.Just like bear baiting being banned by the Puritans in 16th century England,it wasn't out of love for the bears that they did it but purely to avoid people having their own brand of enjoyment.All cults,and I say that in the widest possible sense,enjoy controlling human behaviour especially sexuality (1984).

after reading so many stories about people separating from their husbands/wives once the one of them stops attending meetings, i was wondering how someone could tell their spouse when they first starting learning the truth about the truth.
i know there are couples who got out together on this board.

A bit like Simon really,but I made sure that I researched into the early hours when they were asleep to make absolutely sure.I then went for the holidays first of all and social exclusion at school and my wife was happy with the explanation and it made for a relief in relations with her mother who had always opposed JW's though in a Hyacinth Bucket way which could grate in the extreme...
