felt like saying something about dateline and possible coming doom, but decided it might be wiser to shut my trap.. personally im fed-up with the day of reckoning being put off time after time.

Some grapes that are still on the vine told me that the soc. is parachuting 6 pions. into Ganonoque, Ontario. The story goes that there are no J-dubs left attending and that the Soc is stuck with a brand-new empty K-Hall. The reasons are of course unclear. Anyone heard more about this?

Met some J-dubs on the week-end – this Catholic Church thing seems to have them quite elated – Lots of “we knew it.. and always said it” “the Church is full of gays and pedophiles” – “now the Catholics will finally wake-up and see the light”
Felt like saying something about Dateline and possible coming doom, but decided it might be wiser to shut my trap.
Personally I’m fed-up with the day of reckoning being put off time after time. After much consideration I’ve come up with 4 possible reasons for the delay:
1.) A top NBC exec. has a cleaning lady who is a J-dub. He doesn’t want to hurt her feelings and risk losing her
2.) A top NBC exec. and a member of the GB are old golfing buddies.
3.) The Watchtower has made it clear that any negative publicity will keep Datelines legal staff busy until Armageddon ... and seeing how far off that is, it really has them worried!
4.) The J-dubs are right ... Jehovah is protecting his name

the attorney was secured by the elderly parents who are witnesses and recently signed over a sizable estate to watchtower at their death.
do you think this is part of the legal department tactics to prevent the parents from making contact with the children and thus causing the estate to be contested?

Got a look at a brother’s will - are his relatives going to be shocked !
Gives 90%+ to the WTS, then goes on to enumerate all the reasons why he isn’t giving a dime to most and 1 to 2% to a few.
There’s no way he hasn’t had spiritual help to compose this document.
It’s written in WT legal talk and sounds exactly like the blood-card rhetoric.This guy is no millionaire, so after the WT grabs its share, I doubt if the relatives will get enough for a happy meal at MacDonalds.

did you all have the same feeling of dread of being stuck with a particular person.. knowing that you would have to listen to their dribble throughout the day.. or listening to that poor sister's sinus condition where she would make that, for lack of a better way to describe it, hock-a-luegy sound with her nasal passages every 10 minutes.
then lets not forget the positive side.. how you wished with glee, and finally got to work with the car group that would goof off half of the day and the other day go to not-at-homes that would definitely still be not-at-homes.. *************************************.

As a youngster my sister and I would have to sit in the car when our parents went to do « back calls», after the door-to-door bit. My dad turned off the motor even in the winter (you couldn’t waste gas) and we sat there with our frozen feet which had already been turned into blocks of ice walking door-to-door in 30 below. For comfort we’d take off our boots, put gloves on our feet and laugh at our gorilla feet, waving them in the windows as cars went by.
Later when I got my license the only way to get to drive dad’s car was to go out in service. So during the summer holidays I went to the group during the week with his car. Six older sisters were assigned to my car. A sister and I went to do a call. She looked back and shrieked. With all the talking and discussing before getting out, I’d left the car in neutral and it was rolling downhill with the remaining 5 sisters aboard. I took off after the car and managed to hop inside with quite some difficulty. I finally saved the day by applying the brakes and jamming the car into park. The sisters were very quiet for the rest of the morning and seemed quite relieved when noon came around.

My closest friend has been missing meetings for 2 months now. Last week the c.o. breezed through town and the family finally got their shepherding calls.
1st call : a m.s. asking for time ; my friend asked him if he was serious asking about service time when he must surely have noticed that the family hasn’t even been to a meeting in 2 months
2nd call : elder and m.s rings the doorbell and hands my friend’s wife a grocery bag full of magazines. Apparently there was a 2 month accumulation at the magazine counter, they thought the family would be needing them, and decided to drop them off.
You’d think they would have a least quoted a Bible verse like Matt. 28:19,20 ha,ha!
Anyhow, I told my friend, don't say I didn't tell you so. The next time you'll be hearing from them will be when they invite you to your J.C.

A funny childhood memory came back to me recently. Everyone was accustomed to viewing Jesus clean-shaven in all the WT Soc. publications. Suddenly we were informed by the WT that there had been new light. In order to be spiritually accurate, Jesus should be sporting a beard, like all Jews of his time.
Previously my parents had punished me for drawing mustaches on my Watchtower illustrations, but now beards were in. I was even encouraged to correct the official WT calendar with a felt marker. The calendar had come off the WT presses too early, and if I remember correctly, showed Jesus and the apostles without their facial hair, discussing the END on the mountain. I got busy altering our calendar. My parents were thrilled with the result and proudly showed all visitors their offspring’s artistic talent which had made possible their spiritually accurate calendar.
Could this have some connection with the fact that numerous male ex-JW’s grow beards !
Anyone else remember this ?

The WT knows by experience that public interest will shift rapidly if there is no conflict. This is a favorite tactic of the WT used in apostate, blood transfusion and even in Michael Jackson like situations - no comment
Sure enough, the public loses interest and the heat vanishes.

Brother now I am stumbled!
by Shane inhave you ever been so dam hurt from the things done to you in the so called gods organization that you wanted to just set down cry your guts out?.
i will list a few reasons but basically i feel that my reality has been denied to me as a young man growing up as a jw.. i was not taught to love god, but have excrement scared out of me if i did not do what they said, i too had an over bearing father who seemed to fit right in with jw's mind set.
i can still hear him now god rest his soul, he would say every morning if he happen to hear garner ted armstrong, honey listen they are robbing from the lords table.

Setting up toilets in the campgrounds, cleaning the stadiums before and after, trucking in all the equipment (stoves and cookers, trays, sound equipment, chairs etc.) and then hauling it all away to KH basements...all the fine memories
What with the 8 day conventions, rooming (hah remember that !), setting up and clean-up no wonder all the good dubs didn’t have any time left to take the family on a holiday
