Christ Jesus vs Jesus Christ in RNWT

i noticed in the bible reading in titus this week that that they changed one instance of christ jesus to jesus christ.

it made me wonder why it was done and what benefit it could have in their doctrines..

An Ex-JW Legal Department, NGOs, ect

the watchtower has the means because of the legal department to win cases in their favor, and appeal all the way up to the supreme court.

the average person does not often have the resources to get equal legal representation.

it is david going up against goliath, but in real life: goliath wins.. if only there was a legal department for ex-jws who needed it, whereupon they could get free legal help, not just on behalf of themselves, but who could win rights for the entire ex-jw community, even individual jws who need help against such a huge cooperation.. for instance, have you caught wind that the elders are doing an investigative committee on you, violating your privacy?

As a former specialist in Judicial crap. A publisher or interested person just threatening legal action for a Dfing or otherwise can go a long way. A letter from a law firm stating your intent works well also. Usually the Elders contact the Branch ASAP...(their righteous task for the year) then the Branch usually says back off until they wish to return and then handle it...of courses they will then pummel them a bit more to get back in.....longer period of wait or secretly behind their back labeling them as dangerous and to wary of....

god did not make life in a simple form and allow it to evolve into more complex forms.

instead, he created basic kinds of complex plants and animals, which then reproduced according to their kinds.

( genesis 1:11, 21, 24 ) this process, which continues today, has resulted in the earth being filled with the same kinds of life that god originally created.. the bible does not specify how much variation can occur within a kind, as might result when animals within a kind interbreed and adapt to their environment.

it's been a tough year for me so far.

my grammy passed away in june and i haven't grieved her properly.

it was a jw funeral and that wasn't the platform to do that.

What Did You Do With All Your Watchtower Publications?

i needed room when i moved so i sadly threw my entire library away.

i mentioned this to an exjw.

he and his wife took all the hundreds of books, including bound volumes from the 1800s and are now using them for research and proof of watchtower lies.. what did you do with your books?.

I have all of them . 6 generations believe it or not??? Mostly all mint condition. I value them at 50K All WTs, Golden Ages, Booklets, Convention reports etc... pics, Prospectus's, S.I.S.s, I keep them because of their monetary value as well as a reminder to never trust men and their reasoning's etc...

Yes I have to agree Ann you have quite an array of information collected.

I am not saying I agree with it all but thanks for the reminders.

I've talked with Furuli a few times and others who have studied these tablets in person.

There is a German professor doing an interesting take on them right now.

Oh how we strive for truth, or strive to disprove others truths.

It is required I guess.

The thing is.... as far as the Bible is concerned. Historically Critical Thinking should dictate ones interpretations in my opinion. That is, not reading more into the text than is there and appreciating what is going on at that point in time. Then you get ....that people were writing about events confronting them at thiis time in their lives or in their near future and not writing about symbolically relevent things to come in the distant future. As Ann said, many things were written even "post dated" so to speak, about events or people important to the early followers of Christ. Writers took on names of relevent people, wrote about the way things should be or could be, about the desire to enjoy religious freedom or cultural freedoms etc.. and so on.... Vat 4956 should be viewed as an indicator of a possibly accurate picture of history then, or at least a strong counter argument for the WT societies standalone theories on all of this, but does all this argumentation about Bible Cronology actually have meaning as far as 1914, 1975, or 120 years since 1914, or on and on and on??.... no way...as far as I can see. Yes the JW will say...yes but all the connecting prophesies and the mysterios connections between the books of the Bible all of this fits together as a big puzzle, and we have the TRUTH...What you have is a bunch of free labor and printing presses. If people just woriied about not shunning those who are different, or think freely, knowing their neighbors and helping strangers, being generous, avoiding violence unless required by rules of self preservation, and standing up for their principles maybe it would seem more like in their minds that the Kingdom was already here. sorry for any typos

God's Word for Us Through Jeremiah - Review

a recent thread about this week's study of the watch tower society's god's word for us through jeremiah led me to decide to review how much of the bible book of jeremiah is actually considered in that publication.. unlike other watch tower society verse-by-verse considerations of some bible books, their jeremiah book instead purports to impart lessons 'for us'.

key scriptures in jeremiah contradict jw doctrine, so a verse-by-verse approach was out of the question, probably having learned from their daniel and isaiah efforts that expose problems with jw interpretations.. one good feature of the watchtower library on cd-rom is you can search for a scripture, then find all the search occurences for where that scripture has been cited in jw publications, which made the process much easier.. in god's word for us through jeremiah, much of the bible book of jeremiah is ignored altogether.

in fact, less than half of the bible book is mentioned at all, and only 16% of jeremiah is actually quoted (including portions with the instruction to "read" the cited verses.
