Revelation 12:12 If a Witness was asked how long the war in heaven lasted? What would their answer be nowdays?
by thomasaquinas inthis question came up recently and i was amazed at how many modern day j-dubs feel it was no time at all.
but jw publications have long stated that is was years in duration.
what do you remeber and provide citations if possible..

Anyone have citations available to show JW thinking on this matter? As I remember it it was viewed as occuring from fall of 1914 through mid 1918?? Of course this has no basis scripturally but I wanted to see how long they have held to this teaching. Their book "Revelation" circa 1980s maybe updated in early 200s may comment but not sure??

Do you think the age has passed when there can be no new religions?
by truthseeker ini think we are already living in the age where there can be no new religions.
we have access to information like never before and anyone claiming revelations of something new and starting a whole new religion can easily be discredited.. christianity and islam may continue to subdivide but i think we've pretty much seen the end of anything new in terms of a new belief system.. .
what are your thoughts on this?.

There will always be new religions in that men and women crave prominance and desire to tell the future of all whom will listen.

"Better to illuminate than merely to shine, to deliver to others contemplated truths than merely to contemplate."
by thomasaquinas indo you ever get the feeling some on this site represent a view of themselves, as needing to "shine"?.
academia by it's very nature represents this.
if one is truly a member of academia then "knock yourself out".

Author: Mark Booth
Book: The Secret History of the World.
This is an interesting read for any who suspect history may be different from what we were taught in school or in the WT org.
The reason for the post is an interesting quote from page 539 of this book. Comments invited...
"How to recognize Satan? Or any false prophet? Or any false purportedly spiritual teaching? False teaching usually has little or no moral dimension, the benefits of reawakening the chakras, for example, being recommended merely in terms of selfish 'personal growth'. True spiritual teaching puts love of others and love of humanity at its heart-intelligent love, freely given.
Beware, too, of teaching that doesn't invite questioning, or tolerate mockery. It is telling you, in effect, that God wants you to be stupid."

Academia by it's very nature represents this. If one is truly a member of academia then "knock yourself out". However, some are as Winston Churchill described one statesman at the time "a man who is humble with much to be humble about" .
I have found that some of the quietest people on this site, have the most insightful comments and research.
Not going to comment on any particular post but all of us can argue with modesty as a weapon along with information, I think.
