I must agree with Imbue, what you have shone us is a policy for chilled care volunteers much like the polices in my state. It is a good one, but it is not the policy used by the clergy. If you inquirer you will find another policy (hopefully just as good) for church officials.

Should I "ex JW" SHUN my JW family??
by curiouschristy ini haven't posted in a while... been very busy lately.
i am glad to be back though, i started reading the posts right away, and immediately felt comfort for how you guys are feeling, knowing i feel the same way.
not many of you know my story.... but for a quick run down... i'm a disf'd jw, for about 11 yrs now, i'm 28, disf'd at the tender age of 17... my mother and sister are still in the org... they only talk to me when they want to, it doesn't have to be an important event, life or death or anything.

Hi,
I guess I would have to say it should have more to do with the nature of your relationship with your family. What effect does being with your mother have on your children, is it healthy? how do you feal when you are together and after, is it a drain on you?
We all need to keep supportive loving people in our lives and cut out any one who cause us harm. The only questions to me would be: how is this effecting my children's development as healthy loving people? am I exposing my self to any form of abuse? Will

Sounds like they are preparing there members for bad press, legal action and the loss of probity to pay for settlements, not a bad move, take care of the ped. and UN issue wile maintaining information control by demonizing the government and the media, tossing in more end of the world fear will cause people to hold fast to there way.
All in all a good move, but not a move by one who cares any thing for the Bible or the truth.

Why don't JW's used the word 'Church'
by Double Edge in.
i'm curious...do the jw have something against the word church?
-
willy_think
They use it when it suits them, when they want to seem more mainstream. To the press for example they are indeed a church.
The WT has two sides to there mouth and they use both of them. -

Wanting to speak to someone
by Smokey ini was a former member now in order to be included with family, i am a non-attender for about 14 yearsi really hate to hear all the damage and mind altering things that go on with this cult.

Smokey,
A lot of us walk a tightrope to be included with family, we understand like none else could. You've come to the right place to talk, vent or just to expose your self to other perspectives.
my e-mail is open.
..... welcome home.........

JW's, no worse than anyone else?
by sleepy inas far as i can see most jw's no worse than anyone else on this planet.
humans are often in "conflict" with the opinions of other humans , believing their ideal is "right" while others are "wrong".in general the people that make up jehovahs witness, that is seperate from those leading ,are often trying to do their best to do what they think is right.this sometimes leads them to do things i believe are wrong even .but so do many other people and groups do things i think are wrong.am i the only one who is right?i think not.there are no rules to being human just choices, some based on what some feel to be scientific reality other on spiritual fealing other on something else.
who desides what is the best, is there even a best way of life?so while i belive jw's are factualy wrong and this causes them to do , what seem to me to be illogical things so do most other people just in different ways.edited by - sleepy on 1 october 2002 14:17:32.

Interesting observations, if the JW's are no worse then:
The JW are no better then any church controlled by Satan.
no better then any group that intentionally misleads it's members.
they are not better then any org that protects molesters.
they are no better then any group that shuns education.
they are no better then any group that advocates violence as a control technique over your family.
they are no better then any org who demands complete obedience
they are no better then any church that ritually rejects that which represents the body and blood of Jesus.
They are no better than any totalitarian cult. -

xenawarrior,
I guess you never heard the old joke: why aren't the Jehovahs Witness on TV? They are in the magazine business. -

Nation of Pedophiles
by Satanus ini did some research on what the marriageable age was for girls in ancient, biblical israel.
it turns out it was around the age 12 or 13, although an old man could reserve them from a much younger age, by having them betrothed to him.
twelve or 13 was the age puberty started for them.

The age of adulthood for boys within the Jewish society was 13 and for girls her first period marked the beginning of her adult life. Living as adults within there culture, they did all the things the other adults did.

Hi every one,
my name is Christine, Willie asked me if he could dictate this. So I thought I would say hi and get some credit....... lol Hi!LucidSky,
i think you make a good point but, I find a difficulty about the idea of the father begetting many sons from all eternity. in order to be many they would have to be somehow different form one another. two pennies have the same shape. how are they two? by occupying different places and containing different atoms. in other words, to think of them as different, we have had to bring in space and matted; in fact we have had to bring in "nature" or the created universe. I can understand the distinction between the father and the son without bringing in space or matter, because the one begets the other is begotten. the father's relation to the is not the same as the son's relation to the father. but if there were several sons they would all be related to one another and to the father in the same way. how would they differ from one another? one does not notice the difficulty at first, of course. one thinks one can form the idea of several "sons". but when I think closely, I find that the idea seemed possible only because I was vaguely imagining them as human forms standing about together in some kind of space. in other words. though I pretended to be thinking about something that exists before any universe was made, I was really smuggling in the picture of a universe and putting that something inside it.
which rases the question; was nature-space and time and matter - created in order to make many possibleWill

Reason why I reject the Bible
by refiners fire insome christian clear this up for me willya?
christians are saved thru the mediation of christ right?
if thats the case, will someone tell me why god spent 3000, 2000 years, however long, stuffing around with patriachs and israelites?

R.F.
I can't clear any thing up but I can comment, if you don't mind, about the Christian concept of God and his relationship with time and creation.
as a Christian, I believe God to be out side of creation, being out "looking in" he does not know what we will do before we do it, that is to say he doesn't look from "now" into "tomorrow" to see what we will do, instead he sees tomorrow in a "now" like he sees yesterday and today in a "now". from a perspective out of time the beg bang, the end of this creation and everything in-between are equally visible to him. To say why would he wait 2000 years to do something? It is difficult for me to understand what you mean, I don't see as he waited at all. one day or one million years are just time as plesure and pain are only fealings. he gives us time and fealings. he tells us to chuse love, to fill ourselfs with love for eachother. still we choose, we do, he sees.
The chosen nation, it seems to me, has worked. are they not the nation to which the lord was born? Seems like a big success to me. Israel was "punished" by God as a nation I don't know why but I do know that the punishment changed the nation into the individual people Christ came to, and from the chosen people came salvation to the world.I realize we have very different perspectives of the Christian God, I hope I was clear enough to let you take a look at my point of view.
