Yes, it has helped me. On the positive side, I have found it to be a place where there is love, concern and intelligence. Although there are people here who are troll-like or egotistical, I have learned how to not let them get to me, so I have grown. Either way, it's been a good experience. My writing abilities have improved, too!

Scummy, WELCOME!!!!!!!!! Your (and your ex-wife's) story is so sad and so typical of the jw way. I am glad that you are here and hope Simon's place helps you as much as it's helped me.
As for anything else, don't feel you need to justify anything you believe in. As far as I am concerned, ones personal beliefs are theirs and they should stick to their personal values. Yes, it hurts to be accused falsely, but always stick to your guns.
Dakota is so right about this. Don't let anyone get in the way of your personal beliefs or values.
Love,
Wind

Does god love children?
by kelsey007 inmany people claim that the god of the bible loves children and fetuses.
but what does the bible say?
according to god's law, children are not persons but the property of their fathers, who may sell them as slaves.

els, I have fantasies about Elsewhere's cowlick.
kelsey, I think citing a book (that you don't believe in) out of context is a crock. I also think that the jw insult to Jim was uncalled for.
Does God love children? Did Jesus, his mirror image, love children? People who believe in the Bible are Christians and are supposed to be foot-step followers of Christ. How did he treat them? Did he beat them, abuse them, ignore or mistreat them in any way?

Shunning Rules Changed Again
by Amazing insometime ago the faq at jw-media stated that if one "simply ceases to be involved, they are not shunned.
" ... now, the wording has changed to allow a broader position, one that could include even many more former jws, and "maybe" become the basis whereby they could argue that they are not apostate: do you shun former members?
those who simply leave the faith are not shunned.

An ancient anointed named Dorothy from Knoxville, TN. I loved going out in service with her, she knew the names of every plant and flower. She was very humble and kind. She must be dead by now, but she was what I thought a jw should be like. She was unique.

Nah, I didn't care. I put it all in Jehovah's hands. When a young brother took the lead in service, etc., I just humored him. When an elder was an obvious hypocrite, I thought, rather him than me. I was too full of guilt to be resentful, except for when it came to my exjw husband #2. He was so nice to everyone else but his immediate family. Now, that really pissed me off.
