  Phallic Symbols

  this morning as i was waiting for my ride into work, i was looking at the trees in my neighborhood.

  i don't know what kind of trees they are, but some look like steeples.

  i remembered how we were taught that church steeples were like phallic symbols pointing up into jehovah's nose.

  this is just an update on an earlier post about jw youth dies in car crash.

  long story short, he was killed when his car struck a pole because he fell asleep at the wheel.

  his father had recently kicked him out of the house (he was only 18) becuase he was missing meetings.

  Unsympathetic? Lacking empathy? I'll say...even when you are a member in good standing.

  When my son was diagnosed with leukemia, an elder approached me and asked me how I was doing. I honestly said that I wasn't doing too well, that I felt like Eric had been given his death sentence and it was almost too much to bear. By way of counsel, the elder remarked that I had no business crying, because when Eric died, he would wake up in the new system. I was stunned and the scripture about Jesus hearing the news of Lazarus' death came to mind. Jesus cried.

  There was a jw who used to work in my building. Within months, he lost his mother, mother-in-law, brother and has a son who was in a very bad car accident and almost died. He was almost flip when he talked to me about it. Sort of, "Oh well, that's the way it goes." I don't know how this man acts in the privacy of his home, but he just seemed so blatantly unfeeling. Mind-controlled zombies...

  UnDisfellowshiped, do you honestly believe that attempting to improve cult policies will cause the internal change Mr. Bowen is striving for?

  Edited to add: Forgive my cynicism, but they deceived me for 30 years, why should they all of a sudden change policies and start behaving like a real channel from God, showing loving care for the very children Jesus told them to be like? And do you really think that the law will stop them from protecting their favorites? I find this highly unlikely. I think that they will just become more secretive. After all, God's on their side. Did Moses obey Pharoah?

  I truly hope that I'm wrong. I think of them as a money-making business and the best way to destroy a business is by forcing it into bankrupcy.

  eyegirl and scooter bday party pic

  i started a thread saturday morning about eyegirl and i getting ready to attend our brother's 30th bday party.

  what a blast we had!

  lot of laughs (omg...... only strange thing of the weekend was heading over to our grandma's for lunch on sunday, driving up and seeing mom and dad's truck parked in the driveway (they are still active dubs).

  Death in family/JW funeral

  this has been a most dreadful 2 weeks for me.

  my mother, a faithful jw, finally died after a long illness.i had been by her side all the way., my brother& wife , the jw ,rarely made an apperance-but showed up at last minute to make sure he got her jewelry.

  he rarely showed up because i am not active so not considered good association.also he had no close feelings for her.

  Lyin, I just want to say how very much I appreciate and like reading your posts. You are a wonderful, loving person and it just beams in whatever you write. I love you to pieces. It's so true, too, about how much more you appreciate your mother as you grow and have your own. My mother did a great job considering all of her obstacles and I am very proud of her to this day. On the other hand I would hate to admit how many times I wished her dead when I was a teenager. What a rebellious, ungrateful creature I was then.

  wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know, I know!!!! Isn't it great when they start using the potty??? It's, well, a milestone!
