This is a good reminder for us. It is so hard to take time for oneself during the hectic times we live. I know it is hard for me. I am student, finishing up my last internship, getting ready to start a new job, my girlfriend is moving in with me soon and it is the christmas season. I have two weeks off before my new job starts, but one is the week of christmas, so I will be running a lot, but the next one, I plan to relax and just chill out. I need that time for me. I always try and take about 15 minutes for myself everyday in some way. Thanks for this reminder...Good luck to everyone :)

Well all I wanted to tell you that I am still very much happily in love with my girlfriend. In fact she just found out she got a job and will be moving down with me in just a few weeks. I am so excited. I am also nervous. I have never moved in with someone I loved, but it feels so right. It is so hard when we are apart, and the distance thing is so hard to deal with. She has been worth it all though. When she moves in, it will be 3 days before our 5 month anniversary. Well I hope you are all doing great! Have a happy holiday everyone...

I cried for the past
by joelbear ini cried for a long time today, very deeply, sobbing heavily for those i have lost in my life.
mostly due to watchtower rules.. i am developing a new set of bear friends and look forward to good times with them.. the suicidal thoughts have subsided.. i have never really tried to make a concrete set of friends here.
i think its time to do so.

Hi there. I am glad to see you back. I know what it is like to cry over the past and the life you neglected living due to the JW's. Anytime you want to talk let me know Joel... I hope things get better and better for you. Never look back and keep making new friends that will show you true love....

'Religion' after the Witnesses?
by happysunshine in'religion' after the witnesses?
is it possible?

At first I thought I would never be able to be a part of any real organized religion again. Everytime I attended chruch with some friends I was turned off by the way you were expected to just believe things and that it was the absolute and you had to believe like that or not be a member of that church. There was no room for exploring and growing as a spiritual being. Then I took the quiz on beliefnet and heard of Unitarian Universalist. They are an organized religion, but there is no creed and to become a member all you have to do is sign a book. You can be of other religious background. Many people I attend church with are christian, some buddhist, some nontheist. I still believe in God, but not the God of the bible. I think the bible has a lot to teach us, but I do not believe it was inspired of God. I do believe Jesus lived, ant that he was just very connected to himself and his spiritual being and soul and that made him so mindful. I read a lot of buddhist books and the Tao Te Ching as well. I love growing and openning my mind. Everytime I read some more I grow as a spiritual being. So yes to me religion and spirituality are possible after the witnesses. You just have to find what is comfortable to you.

Are you living out some of your dreams yet?
by LyinEyes ini have been up watching saturday night fever, made in the year 1977. funny thing i noticed , the club that the tony(john travolta) dances at is called 2001 odessey.
i thought god , i was 10 or 11 when that movie came out.
i wanted to see it so bad, but good jw's would never see such a movie, the disco era right.

In many ways yes I am working towards my dreams. One I knew from an early age I wanted to go to college and I was not going to let the JW's damper that one, I went away to college promising to go to meetings, knowing I never wanted to go back. I always wanted to have my ph D, well in december I will graduate with my masters and I am excited to be doing job interviews for occupational therapy, my dream job. I know that someday I will go back and get my ph D and I want to do more research. Another dream I have had was to be able to share my life with a another human being. I knew since I very early age that I very much was and am attracted to women and I can say now I am dating a wonderful woman and I hope to share the rest of my life with her. So yes I am pursueing and living my dreams. I can say there is one dream I am not living and that was my dream to play basketball on a big 10 team. I use to be really good, but unfortunately I quit when my parents made me when I was 14, and so I was not able to pursue that dream, but all and all I am pursueing my life's dreams!!!

Do you think its talking down to you?
by WildTurkey inwhen talking to someone who never was a jw, and they say to you how could you ever fall for all that?
it does bother me, cause i think it is some what condescending?
how do you feel about these questions?
-
wonderwoman77
I too think it can be condescending. I however do not take great offense to it because I was 13 when I became a JW and what did I know other than I should do what my parents say. When I was 18 I left, so I guess that is where I stand. But I can see how it could be upsetting...

What does this mean?
by MYOHNSEPH ini've noticed that the friends forum on this board gets about twenty-five times the number of posts as forums such as bible research and beliefs, doctrines & practices.
do you think that says something about most of the posters here?
if so, what?
-
wonderwoman77
I think it means that many people that come out the the JW religion need time to heal before they get bogged down with religion again. They need time to know others understand and to just talk about everyday stuff that gets so ignored in the JW religion...

the sweetest thing
by forgetmenot inwhat is the sweetest or nicest thing somebody of the opposite sex has ever said or done for you?
or what would you want somebody of the opposite sex to say or do to you to make you all happy inside?
i'm not looking for sexual things here just things that make you stop and go "ahh how nice".
-
wonderwoman77
Well I am going to reply anyway even though it was a member of the same sex, but since it was a significant other I think it should count :)
My girlfriend and I were watching a movie, and part of one really made me sad because of my past experience with my mom, and she was just able to hold me and let me cry and kissed away my tears. It was so sweet. It was at that moment I knew how much she loved me and how much I loved her. It is amazning, they say the person you are meant to be with should make you a better person, I had never experienced that until now, my girl makes me want to be the best person I can be and when I am in her arms or her in mine I feel there is not more perfect place to be.....
