Yes. I grew up going to the Queens Assembly Hall. And I do remember the days of walking to White Castle and Wendys.

i just remembered when i was a kid and we would go to the assembly, it was fun because we got to buy new clothes and put extra effort into looking good.
when we would get there you could save your seats and even save some for your friends, then go off looking for them.. i used to love our circuit assembly because of the food.
it was at the assembly hall and there was a big kitchen, some of my favourite brothers worked in that kitchen, sometimes i was allowed to go in and help.

this question dedicated to watson!
5th... stick to the "losing my priviledges threads.".
love when people can't take a joke unless it's theirs!
My 5 year battle against the wt, which resulted in me being "deleted" as an elder was based on my defending
a brother in my congregation against elders who told this brother that he could not bring his son (whom he had had out of wedlock),
to the hall. They told him that he had to just deal with his son "through the mail".
Note that this brother had not been disfellowshipped for his adultery and his witness wife had willingly accepted him back
without wanting to divorce him.
Additionally, the co's and do's told his wife that "Illegitimite children have no future hope".
Sounds bizarre, but this is exactly what happened from 1995-2000.
The above is the core of why I was deleted. Because I stood up for what is right.
That situation resulted in a 5 year battle which went all the way to the presidency of the wt.

a witness just informed me about a couple that we know who had their assembly recently, and it was announced at the private elder's meeting that there will be a special meeting with all the elders in the us in patterson.
it was mentioned that we are now living "in the end of end of times" and that the un is talking about prohibiting religions.
has anyone heard of this??
This nothing but a desperate attempt to keep the rank and file riled up about the "End", which will never come. Its bullsh*t!
I had been born into the borg in 1961 and I heard the same thing all my life about the UN.
( I'll tell you this: I enjoyed all of my school trips to the UN. .) Regardless of being a jw.
Additionally, as WT Wizard commented, what needs to be done to religion in general, including the wt, is to continue to
expose the religion hoax with honest the honest facts about it. Don't try to change it.
Vanish it.

I do remember those days. Back in the 1960's at Yankee Stadium we had tents outside of the stadium where all kinds of hot food was cooked right on the spot. Scrambled eggs, bacon, Mashed potatoes, meatloaf, hamburgers, hot dogs, rice, vegetables, chicken, meatballs etc. Breakfast lunch and dinner menu's.
The 3-day circuit assemblies here in Queens at the Bliss assembly hall had those homemade ham and cheese sandwiches and the homemade pies and since the program lasted into the night, we had a breakfast, lunch and a dinner menu for Saturday and Sunday. Friday was only an evening program.

what if you wen't back in time and stopped your mother from opening the door to the witnesses...and your family never came into the truth!!
what if you risked changing everything else in your life...not having kid's or the same marriage partner...would it be worth it.
I would definitely use the time machine to go back and make sure I never became a part of the jw cult.
I would also go back with the knowledge I have now and sabotage the borg so that it would have never come into existence.

i just came across this comment by someone from a group i belong to .
we just had the visit of our co...his wife made this comment to me:.
"'as i was reading the very powerful articles in the last public issue of the wt with study articles...i couldn't help but imagine that the brothers are waving a goodbye to people!'...
I'm glad this thread and the points brought up here have been brought up.
IMO, a number of the recent actions by the borg are reminiscent of Jim Jones and others that were like him in the past.
Rekless, my brothers and sisters and I who are of course 'out' have seriously wondered about the same 2 points you brought up.
I already told my mom (who is still 'in', but not a dub at heart), don't drink any of that wine at the memorial, or eat any of that bread, even if they do start saying that the so-called 'anointed' is still being gathered.

the wts has sent a letter to all convention overseers expressing their increasing concern at sisters "directing brothers" at district conventions.. with immediate effect (ie for dc 2008), sisters are no longer to be used as volunteers in parking and security / watchman departments.
any sisters volunteering in other departments (eg toilet cleaning) must be subordinate & follow the direction of appointed brothers.
this move will put a huge burden on the dcs in my area - nearly half the volunteers for parking are sisters and there aren't enough volunteers as it is.
"I have a real hard time believing that I was a witness for 25ish years and never beat the holy living f#ck out of some of these people. I remember just laughing it off and rolling my eyes (or making smart ass comments) but now it doesnt seem stupidly funny to me like it did then. When I read something like this it literally makes me want to just go to the local hall with a baseball bat and wade right in. It's like reading about the latest Muslim bull$hit to me... "
This post also gave me a Klingon belly laugh!

chickpea started a thread on "time freezes in grand central".

and i got the idea of starting a "twilight" thread...chickpea's thread made me remember of the episode of stop watch.
There were a lot I especially liked. The episode that comes to mind right now is "To Serve Man"

ok, so i'm looking for a new book to start reading.... any genre, any style.. what are you favorite books of all time?.
.
[inkling].
Zanex,
Yes! I forgot about that one. "A Wrinkle In Time" by Madeline L'Engle. Excellent book.! I read that in elementary school.
Remember: Tesseract! (Or something like that).

i'm sure this has been posted before but i think many have changed their avi's.
my avi:.
the frog i have now has a gavel...i liked it because to me, it's giving the impression of being released from bondage (as in a prisoners case).
I chose my Avi because the situation that I went through as an elder which led me to battle against the gb and a host of other wt officials, and which eventually led to my name being announced as "disassociated", even though I never disassociated myself and was never disfellowshipped, is the same type of situation that the character ' Worf ' from Star Trek TNG went through in an episode entitled " Sins of the Fathers". This was actually a 4 part episode, but in that first one, he was shunned by his entire race by "Discommadation". Klingon law also required his family to shun him. There are many more details in this 4 part episode which reflect the jw experience for those of us who think for ourselves.
I showed this 4 part episode to a friend of mine who never was a jw but who knows the details of what happened to me and she saw the connections without me saying a word. I really wish that all of us who have been shunned could see this 4 part episode. If you already have Star Trek TNG on tape or DVD, you might want to rewatch these particular episodes: Sins of the Fathers, Reunion, Redemption 1 and Redemption 2. Just a suggestion.
Interesting how art reflects life.
