I know EXACTLY the sisters you are talking about (we had em in my hall, too). OMG...it's AMAZING the human body can survive being that overweight for any amount of time. Just shocking. It's a good thing they wear so much perfume, cause I doubt they smell good...
(PS., I think you'll find a lot of the time it was other single sisters in the hall complaining, too. The more spiritual ones get POed when the brothers start looking at someone else for reasons other than, well, anything, I guess. We had a lot of that going on at our hall)

Like I said, I was wondering. Myself, aside from deja vu, I've never had any first-hand experience with anything 'supernatural'.
Again, given that my mother was CERTAIN supernatural things happened to her, and it was the demons themselves working through her when she did divination, it works to make me curious.
I don't believe in demons, but it seems hard to believe that so many first-hand accounts are without any value whatsoever.
I think there is SOMETHING else 'out there'. I'm just looking for confirmation one way or another (I mean, if everyone here says 'yeah, I believed that, but then became skeptical and, lo and behold, all 'supernatural events' I was experiencing suddenly had an explanation - well, I'd like to hear that, too!)

During the winter, men have to wear suits and brain-circulation-cutting-off ties. Which does okay to keep you warm, but it really uncomfortable. Sisters wear sweaters/long dresses/pantyhose/etc. and get to be comfortable and still warm.
During the summer, men STILL have to wear suits and brain-circulation-cutting-off ties. Now, it's uncomfortable and HOT AS HELL. Sisters can dress in skirts and blouses.
As for your list....hmmmmmm....

There are actually a lot of things women have/do that men don't. But, see, I don't know if it's because society has trained me to think so or not....they just aren't things I want. I mean, I wouldn't WANT to have someone hold a door for me. If a ship is sinking, I'll be there till the last trying to save it. If my country goes to war, I WANT to fight for it.
*shrug* - dunno? Maybe we do have it better...

i, like many on this board got baptised when still a teenager (17).. at the time i thought i knew what i was doing and could take full responsibility for my actions.. 10 years later i realise i knew very little back then compared to what i know now.. was i old enought to make my mind up?.
or could we always at any age ,be looking back at things we did wrong thinking if only i knew what i know now?.
actually how much responsibility can we hold over what we did as teenagers .weren't we pushed by the congregation and parents, we had little knowledge of anything else being force fed the "truth" since babies.. at such a young age aren't we much more vulnerable to brainwashing ?.
I was brought up 'in the truth', and baptised at 17. At the time I was upset that the convention that year had been moved back to Dec 30-ish for us, since that meant I wouldn't be baptised at 16 (born on the 29th). The assemblies usually fell earlier in the season, so I would normally have been baptised at 16.
Yes, at the time, that really bothered me. And it didn't seem unreasonable at all that I should be dedicated my life to a religion when everyone everywhere said I shouldn't be thinking about women because I was too young to make decisions that serious. [8>]

i've been lurking for quite awhile - with some threads, laughing to tears, and others, reliving those years.
Their hangup with books and other object being possessed was always interesting. Like, actually READING apostate literature would cause demons to enter your mind and lead you astray. [8>] It was also interesting how obsessed they were with the whole deja vu->demons thing. I mean, I got deja vu ALL THE TIME - even when giving a friggin talk on stage. If the demons were at work each time....[8>]

I'm curious what experiences have been had. Obviously, the JWs teach anything remotely supernatural is demonic. Would those who worked such things agree? Or are you merely witnessing your own preconceptions when something happens? Or is some other force present?
