C'mon, you can tell me. Which way REALLY looks like the best way to honor your chosen deity? Really? C'mon, you know which looks best
(Oh, alright, I'll give you a hint: look up some of the traditional methods of celebrating Beltaine. )

"life on mars" mmm i wonder what jws would say on the matter, maybe adam and eve visited mars( just joking).anyway what do you think, will they find life on mars.
if there was life on mars what the hell happened up there
Same thing that will happen here. Planets cool down after time - the cooling causes the tectonic activity to slow down, then finally stop. Once it's stopped, the planet is 'dead' - the regurgitating, basically, of elements from volcanic activity keep a fundamental process of life on the planet going.
In short, a planet must be geologically active to also be biologically active.
Mars apparenly 'cooled down' faster than earth (we're not talking about surface temperature here - the core temperature of the planet is what is the concern here - which is determined by things like: the planet's size, the mineral composition of it, distance from the sun, etc.)
There is, of course, some evidence of occasional active tectonics on Mars - and more evidence the planet used to be quite active. Which means it is almost certain life, of some kind, COULD HAVE existed there. It does not now, of course, but it COULD HAVE - and that's enough to go looking.
the environment is too hostile with extreme cold and poisonous gasses
Ummm...with all due respect....
The temperature of a planet and its atmosphere have absolutely nothing to do with the possibility of 'life'. Life 'as we know it', sure - but that's the fault of our limited frame of reference, nothing more. There are probably LOTS of different environmental conditions that could lead to self-replicating molecules that evolve in to 'higher organisms'. We just haven't found any yet.
Granted, you definitely would not want to go on vacaction there but bacteria has been found in less hospitable places here on earth
Ding ding ding! True story. There are some pretty damn nasty places on this planet that life - even 'life as we know it' - exists just fine.
i started a new thread because the other one was about going to see it and i just got home from seeing it .
some of the reviews said it didn't answer many of the questions it brought up.
my opinion: au contraire!!
Gah, didn't like it much at all.
I mean, it just wasn't SCARY. I don't find a movie scary unless the reason for the fear is plausible. Case in point: 'Alien' and 'Aliens' were scary because there were no gaping plot holes - everyone and everything acted *exactly* as you'd expect given their situation and time period.
In this movie, in short, it was another one of those where the characters had to act 'dumb' in order for the suspense to build up and the 'bad guys' had to act dumb in order for the whole situation to even be resolved. I mean, well, wait...

K, if you're still reading, I'm assuming you don't care about having the movie ruined (or, you've already seen it):
Okay, what of the aliens? They are so far advanced, they have interstellar travel. They can cloak their ships. Yet....they chose to invade a planet knowing part of its environment is toxic to them? Then, after making this rash decision....forget to wear their space suits that would protect them from this environmental hazard?
And no weapons of any kind, huh? For an 'Alien' I could understand, maybe, but these guys have trouble with plywood - you'd think they'd have a good ol' ray gun or two.
And what of all the loose ends? I mean, we hear the aliens leave (but, obviously, they didn't all leave)...so, what happens next? Do they come back? If not, why not? Was it really just the water that drove them away? And, hey, while we're on that topic...if water effects them so badly....I wonder exactly WHAT the humidity was in all the spots they chose to visit. Cause, if it wasn't, like, ZERO, they'd be having some problems all over the place.

Now, granted, it did have funny parts. And, the funny parts WERE funny. And, it did have several tear-jerker moments...and they WERE sad moments.
But, the movie was obviously overall a 'scare' movie - and aside from one or two good jumps, it just wasn't scary.
I was honestly hoping (from the reviews), that this was another 'Aliens' - by far the scariest movie of ALL TIME - but, in fact, it just didn't hold a candle to it.
The story of an alien invasion met with faith, its invaders are symbolic of what happens to people and their children when they become cynical unbelievers, writing off both the bad and the good as the product of chance.
Yeah, that was a little over the top.
And, it's REALLY funny in an ironic sort of way if you think about it.
I mean, either:
A) Mankind evolved, and so did these aliens, so there is no god and we're basically screwed
B) Mankind was created....and thus, so were these aliens....so, uhhh, either god is taking sides (in which case, we're probably screwed), or he's staying out of it (in which case we are DEFINATELY screwed)
So, no matter HOW the religion question panned out, the fact that the aliens were HERE, ON EARTH, means religion isn't going to help.
Except, of course, in the movie, it DOES - the story ends happy and everyone turns back to god.
i was just thinkin' about him, i mean, since you said he was so cute well i got all curious.. .
ooh it's late and i'm totally drained.
good night
personally, i do not believe god ever has or ever will exist.
i have my reasons -- i guess i could be considered an agnostic, rather than an athiest.
i was curious to see what the larger part of the former borg community believed, now looking from the outside in, rather than the opposite.
" "
(My thoughts - does this mean I win?)
ok so my parents big deal has always been while i may not go to meetings they are free to ask about my religious status, and invite me to meetings (i do not have to accept the invitation) as long as i live under their roof.
my parents other big deal is to go out to lunch after the sunday meeting.
in fact, they usually say "say, wanna come to the meeting tomorrow?
Yes, quite so.
Just make sure the parents realize you are skipping a meeting due to your strict regimen of sin and debauchery. That'll keep 'em impressed! (And, hopefully, not asking you to meetings every again!)

Micheal Jackson .... still goes door to door in disguise so people do not recognize him
*snork*
Oh, gods, too easy...
So...uhhh...what's he do? Put on the other glove?
HAhaehehhehehe!
going to that funeral this week made me think about a few things.. first the family members that attended, who btw were not dubs, were shedding tears.
i did not see anyone else there crying even though the woman who died was a great friend and will really be missed.. now since the dubs have the hope of the "resurrection" does that allieviate their grief that they should normally posess?
does that mean they are "happy" when someone dies because their wait is over?
Well, if you call denial 'dealing with it', then sure, they do it just fine.
I mean 'no need to cry - they are just sleeping' is about as deep in denial as you can get.
NO - they're NOT sleeping - they're friggin DEAD...helllooOOOooo...everything is NOT okay, thank you very much.....

So....the question is....what's the magical threshold of fame/fortune whereby the JWs give you a different set of rules?
And, what class are these, anyway? The OTHER other sheep? The little great crowd? ???
