I mean, in another thread you comment that you will stop listening to certain peoples music based on their sexual or political orientation.
That's just silly.
I mean, it's SILLY. Really.
Someone could be your favorite musician, then 'comes out', suddenly it's 'burn their albums' time?!

That's what I was trying to say in my posts. Being gay is more than just two people of the same sex having sex. Just as being 'straight' is more than just a sticking his penis in a women's vagina. It's more than just sex. It's the whole relationship. If someone is straight, it isn't only because they prefer the male into female sexual experience.
It's because they like looking at members of the opposite sex. Like the attention of them. Like to fantasize about life with them. Maybe marry one, buy a house, make a garden, go for walks in parks, see movies together.
And, here is the point, gay or straight, an intimate relationship is more than just the sexual act it involves.
The natural course is for a man and a woman to have sex, for pleasure or procreation. That is a fact.
Really? Sorry, I missed the part in the bible where god created condoms?
If you were really honest, you'd see that straight people having 'protected sex' is just as 'unnatural' as homosexuality. Indeed, if the bible is you bag, you'll note that god himself intervened directly to smite Onan on the spot for 'wasting' his sperm in a regular heterosexual act.
Thus, biblically, using 'protection' is just as much a 'sin' as homosexuality.

Sorry, Celia, you're banging your head against the wall. Gods only know we've argued with her enough, but I think it's fairly obvious.
To luckylucy, anyone who isn't a bible-thumping, homosexual-hating, pro-war (with everybody), protestant american is the enemy of god himself (the christian god, mind you) and deserves to be purged from the surface of the earth.

I think you may be reading too much into 'choice', too.
I'm very computer savvy and I find cars boring as hell. Going to auto shows makes me cry, I really am bored to tears. For most of you, I suppose this would be analogous to going to a quilting bee or something.
Now, could I hang around with guys that talked cars or sports all day? Yeah, I could, indeed, I did as a JW, as that is ALL any of the brother talked about (strangely, high school dropout carpenters and window washers aren't as tech-savvy as they are up on their favorite team).
Is me being a tech geek a 'choice'? Well, yeah, it is. Could I CHOOSE to become interested in sports and enjoy it? Not really! (I know, I've tried!) See, the desire to learn and work with things technical was a combination of genetics, impressoins from infancy, things learned from youth, etc.
It isn't strictly DNA, but the force of my whole life to this point. So, it's not a 'genetic' thing. But saying 'it's just a choice' is dismissive. It's NOT 'just a choice'.
Similar with someone's sexual preference (whatever it is). It's not a strictly genetic thing, like some kind of defect or disease that could be 'cured'. Nor is it merely a choice they decided on a whim.
What you are trying to do, ThiChi, is to segregate the parts of a human personality traits. What makes someone have certain interests - from simple hobbies as in my example, to sexual orientation, is not one single factor that can be isolated. The combination of all interests, likes, dislikes, etc in a single body is what we DEFINE as a PERSON. It's the entire combination!
So razorblade above is gay. That's part of WHO HE IS. You can't take the 'gay' out of razorblade and still have razorblade. Just like you can't take the 'straight' out of ThiChi and have the same person. Human personality just doesn't work that way. And what MAKES that personality for everybody is different.

You DO realize that gay men can be a 'couple' without actually ever having any kind of sex? It's not common, granted, certainly no more common than heterosexual couples that do the same.

Being homosexual is nothing at all about sex. It's about ATTRACTION. If two people *fall in love*, why do you feel the need to judge them based on which gender they are? Humans are more than just animals, that just pair up strictly to reproduce. We evolved out of that a LONG time ago - we pair up because we find another person we feel especially close to and want to share the moments of the rest of our lives with. And if some people find that easier to do with members of the opposite sex, great! If some find it easier to do with members of their own sex (for whatever reason), hey, that's fine, too! And, if some people are just looking for 'the one' and don't give a flying f*ck what their gender is, you know what, all the better for them!

by BLISSISIGNORANCE ini ask this question because we often hear about jw men (bros., elders, servants, co's etc.
) treating sisters as lower and weaker beings than themselves.. but i wonder if it's not just a male-dominant world problem.
i didn't grow up as a jw so every male i met for 30 years was not a jw.

The problem, actually, is christianity. The bible DOES say specifically that women are inferior to men.
The US is a predominantly christian country, hence, the problem.
Everywhere that organized religion has a very strong hold, women are subjugated.
Continues to baffle the mind why people put up with a book that defines women as inferior.

she'd been missing since last july 4th when her sister said that a man came into their room in the middle of the night and took her.
no details yet.

Geez, usually the police are better about planting that kind of evidence! (Course, maybe they got confused because the girls story of her abduction and her sisters - the only other supposed eyewitness - don't match!) And from her own BEDROOM?!? How does that work?!

I dunno....reading the story from CNN....it's obvious they are leaving a LOT unsaid.
Couse, who knows, maybe I'm just creeped out by the father. That, and the missing for *9 months*. Strange time period. And, supposedly travelled all over the place? But somehow found right in the same town she was kidnapped from?
