So as I progress in my fade, I've started to notice a curious phenomenon. Just when I think this will be the missed meeting/ field service/ assembly that will cause all heck to break to loose- NO ONE SAYS ANYTHING. This includes immediate family and extended family in the same congregation. When the see me, it's like nothing unusual ever happened. I just wonder if maybe we are more paranoid than we need to be. If I could just slip away with no bother, it would be so much better for everyone involved. But of course, the FDS is never going to publish the fact that it's ok to just step out. If they really wanted to keep things together, I.e. keep folks who are no longer believers from hanging out just so they can keep speaking to family, they could just send a letter to all elders and say, if publishers stop reporting field service, offer encouragement and then LEAVE THEM ALONE. My two cents for the lurkers from the writing department.

I do think there is hope for my hubby, which is why I've been playing the waiting game. It would be much better for our children and our marriage if we were on the same page about this. If it's a matter of waiting a few more months and having him wake up, it seems worthwhile to not draw the line in the sand now. Our marriage has not always been the greatest, but has actually improved since I've woken up since I'm more relaxed and happier in general. I think he sees that and is trying to figure it out. I think I just need to decide on a time frame of how long to wait- I've been thinking of September when we study the new light in the WT- keep it sporadic til then and just not go back. Do everything I can between now and then to help hubby wake up and then just leave it in Jehovah's hands (lol, thought stopper!). Also, I'm trying to keep things as normal as possible for my kids, school activities and friends and so forth, and have been asking them lots of questions to get them thinking. Oy, wish me luck, I'm going to need it! (Still the twinge of guilt about referring to luck...)

I'm about 4 months into my fade- things were going ok at first. If I didn't get ready to go to the meeting or FS, neither did my family. Recently, hubby has become more sensitive and now will take the family whether I go or not. What should I do? Go with them so at least I know what they're hearing. Or stay home so I don't vomit uncontrollably? I feel like I have to say something at some point, but all the advice is not to say anything and just keep feigning depression/ being busy/ being discouraged etc. I'm more and more worried about my kids. Last week my son said " I sure hope Jehovah Witnessers are right about paradise. I guess the only way I'll know is if I die and wake up in paradise." what if he decides to check out the premise? the stakes are high for me, but I don't want to ruin everything by forcing the issue. Help!

Suicide - How many do you know within the JWs
by Lady Lee inthw wts likes to play games with their statistics.
one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?
if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.

Thanks LL and Lisa- this was a long time ago and yes, I did get help. Still struggled with depression for years though. Since I've realized TTATT, I've actually started to feel much better (after feeling a whole lot worse for a while).

I tried once- took a bunch of pills and woke up 36 hours later. I was living alone at the time and have never told anyone. Scared the crap out of me, but it still didn't make the pain go away.

Lot's of talk on the July Watchtower?
by noonehome inso i've heard lots of talk from within about the 'new light' in this watchtower...i'm yet to look at it in any detail.
i'm kind of surprised actually...i first heard about it here before it was even available but close to the time it did come out people started bringing it up - even our co.. some say things like "have you heard about this?
" or "big changes," or "allot of things they said we believed, i didn't realize,"(lots of that) or "brain-overload" or " too much information, but i've never felt more pumped up" or "it's soo exciting to see jehovah's spirit lead his organization..." or "it requires time to sink in, but it's a good feeling!

I've been avoiding any unnecessary conversations as part of my fade, but the JWs that I've talked to about this are either a) completely unaware of the changes or b) really excited about how clear the explanations are. So frustrating. Sad thing is that I recognize that was me for the past couple decades- e.g., I couldn't have cared less about the overlapping generations. Didn't make sense, didn't understand it, but I didn't care either, because it's all the "truth" and who am I to question it?

It was talking about how people listening to a radio program of "War of the Worlds" in the 1930s thought it was a real alien invasion. Segue to the coming war of Armaggedon, and how in that war, we won't have to fight aliens. It just seemed really strange, even in context.

Having children is bad
by dissonance_resolved inwent to the weeknight meeting this week for the first time in a long while.
the study was all about how having children was ill-advised in this time of the end- the comments dwelled on what a burden children are, how you can spend more time in the ministry without children, and look what they did in jerusalem- they cannabilized their own children!
it's going to be so horrible to watch our children suffer during the great tribulation!
