  No Bible = No God ???

  something has gotten on my nerves a bit recently.

  there are numerous discussions regarding the validity of the bible which usually result in the following:.

  * an exjw who has doubts about the bible concludes there is no god .

  Yea I've seen this as well, I think it's hard once you leave the JW's to grasp, initially anyway, there there is a god outside the bible. It also appears to be difficult to let go of the "false religion" mindset. By that I mean after leaving the dubs you still consider any other religion to be bad w/o actually learning about them or attending their services to see for yourself.

  For me it was babysteps...first letting go of the bible, then realizing there was a god and/or gods the might exist outside those parameters and then learning about and attending other religious services to let go of preconceived ideas about them. There is a great big wide world of interesting religions/faith based ideas and it's actually kinda fun to explore them. Expecially given the fact you don't have to embrace any of them fully this time around.

  i have this problem.

  i think that justice and right and wrong are universal concepts that every man of every faith can embrace - to bastardize a line from the boondock saints.

  perhaps this is jw in origin, this expecting everyone to play from the same deck with no jokers and no wild cards.

  I think it would be nice if he took you out to dinner but he certainly doesn't owe you anything. It is though, in my opinion, extremely tacky of him to say anything about it to you. If it were me I would probably mention the fact that management usually frowns on people discussing things like that....

  i know i'm asking this early but i feel it would be good to put the feelers out now.. obviously, it would have to be a location easy to get to - so that means stornoway is out!

  Ross is checking the dates to see if we will be able to get away from the island then or not. Will let you know as soon as we figure it out. Would be nice to set foot on the mainland for a bit.

  when i was almost seven, we moved from the gulf coast town of mobile, alabama to morgan city, louisiana.

  on brashear avenue, which was also highway 90, the gulf coast hwy, going towards the now old atchafalaya bridge, there was a shrimp boat in the middle of the road called the spirit of morgan city.

  at christmas time they decorated it with a santa on the front and his reindeer out front, as if it were santa's mode of transportation through cajun country, rather than his regular sleigh.

  it seems inevitable that a hundred or two hundred years from now, the majority of people in europe will be muslim.

  this is based on the number of children they are having compared to non muslims, and the presumption that they will be told from a very early age they are muslim too, and taught to believe the same things as their parents.

  Why Religion?

  i have no issue with a person having a spiritual dimension, but i wonder why people have difficulty accepting that the religion that an individual makes up inside their head is no more or less worthy than the ones other people have made up in their heads.. why do people feel the need to have others tell them what to believe and how to think?

  simplistic though this may sound, this is at the basis of all religion.

  does religion scratch the itch of our insecurities?.

  Not everyone has difficulty accepting this. At the church I attended in Texas the minister was very clear that this was the path he and those of this congergation had chosen but it wasn't the only path and that other paths were just as acceptable. That was why I went to that church, I don't care for churches that teach their way is the only way. I think the people that go to those churches like the idea of feeling superior to others, I had enough of that as a dub.

  Again not everyone feels this way. I often wonder why some people have this need as well, especially ex-dubs. You would think after finding out our last belief system was bogus we would be leary of pushing any new ones.

  Simplistic though this may sound, this is at the basis of all religion.

  Is it indeed?

  Does religion scratch the itch of our insecurities?

  I think it fills different needs in different people.

  Cannabis Free~

  yesterday i bought a pack of smokes called cannabis free.

  i thought that maybe if it was good, as in something unique i could save a pack for crumples when she gets here.

  so i lit one up in the car and proceeded to smoke it.

  I think I'll pass on the cannabis free. I was a someone's house once and they asked me if I wanted to smoke some sage. I was like ooohhhh yea right "sage" sure I want some....I took a puff....held it....waited...it was sage.. just freakin SAGE. Strange people.

  I take smokes back to Texas from here cause everyone loves the huge "SMOKING KILLS" and other assorted labels on them.
