  Well when you are a JW (or an exJW who posts) you need to develop a very thick skin! lol if this guy hasn't heard JW jokes in the past then I don't know where he has been living! He was out of place in confronting you like that, what was he expecting? I think it is good that your boss saw what a lack of humor this man has...to be in sales you really need a good personality, a thick skin and a way with people. I think this guy proved that he doesn't have ANY of these qualities!

  I probably would at some point have a discussion with him...lol if nothing else to find out exactly how much of a JW he is....

  Leave your cadaver to medical science ??????

  interesting little thought .... i've decided to dedicate my body to medical school, and just before i die, i'm going to swallow a little plastic toy.

  that way, the medical student who cuts me open will get a nice surprise.

  i just hope the other medical students aren't sad because they didn't get a toy with their cadaver, too.

  Am I the Oldest One here??

  today is my birthday, born in 1936. that makes me 66. i can hardly beleive it.

  i'm still in good health but know it's just a short run until something does me in.

  i'm really thankful for the great life i've enjoyed, no real problems that i consider serious.

  df vs disassociation

  can someone provide me some insight or past experience with the pros and cons to disassociating oneself versus getting disfellowshipped?

  besides the obvious of not having to deal with the lynch squad.

  Grandfather died

  and now there is a debate between my father and his sister whether there should be a memorial service at the kingdom hall.. is there a rule whereby an elder who gives a memorial service at a kingdom hall must use the society's outline?

  because my father and my grandmother have made it quite clear that he under no circumstances do they want that.

  (i'm very blessed to have jw family who do not shun me even with the long hair (yes it is growing back), earring, and, oh yeah, disfellowshipment).

  would you take blood?

  im confused would i take blood if i was about to die and had no other alternative treatment well to me thats allways been a hard one one to answer and people have allways hated witnesses for refusing it or not giving blood to there own kids.you see my mothers due in to hospital on tuesday and having a major operation the problem for her is she is inactive as a jw and has no blood card which is upto date what do you think she should do 1.phone elders 2.trust in jehovah and refuse blood.3if it comes to the worst take blood and live.

  For myself and my daughter I would carefully review the situation and determine if there was no other recorse...but ultimately I would take blood and allow my daughter to be given blood if it would increase our chances of survival. I don't think a blood transfusion should be taken lightly because of the risks associated with it and the fact that there are alternative treatments available, but if it was determined to be necessary then I believe it would be irresponsible and wrong not to take it.

  I would have a long talk with my mother if I was you...inform her of her choices and let her make her own decision.

  I wish you and your mother the best and please let us know how things go with her surgery!
