  Elders' kids - special treatment?

  it seems to be the opinion of some on this board that elders' kids received special treatment, weren't punished for their wrongdoings, etc.. as the daughter of the po in our small congregation, let me tell you that it was much harder for me than for the kids of those who weren't elders.

  our family was expected to be the "model family for displaly purposes" and we were held up to very high standards so that we didn't "stumble" anyone.

  at times i wished my dad wasn't an elder so that i could have a bit more freedom.

  I agree with you that kids of elders, especially the P.O. were expected to be beyond reproach. But I think the point some earlier posters were alluding to was, if you did get into trouble, and your dad was a prominent elder, chances are it could be swept under the carpet, and not even brought before a JC

  Speaking from experience, I hung around with a "relative" and we were caught ( key word caught ) on more than 1 occasion, in " unscriptural activities" and because his father was the P.O., the matter was kept within the families. Good thing too, because it would have caused major embarrasement for all, but especially the P.O. Serious enough both in circumstances, and in repeat offences, that he would have had to step down !

  Is the Major Battle Going to Start Today in Iraq?

  the war has been going on for sometime if anyone has actually been following along what has been going on in iraq .... .

  but today .... .

  msnbc reporting that ari fleischer has lidded his daily press gaggle, and that the president has cancelled some speech or meeting about health care he was supposed to have this afternoon.

  i hope simon forgives me for putting it in a new thread.

  i thought it was so great to see how children think about things, if they aren't "brainwashed" from infancy.so a few weeks ago my four year old daughter was asking questions about jesus and decided she wanted to see a picture of him.

  It reminds me of the time when my dad allowed me to sit in on a bookstudy with him and the P.O. They were conducting a study with a newly interested fellow. They were discusiing the creation account, and I remember piping in about why did God allow Satan to trick Eve, and in turn to trick Adam? Didn't God know that was going to happen ?

  I remember the look on the newbies face, like I beat him to the question. Never the less I wasn't invited to sit in again. That newbie never did get baptized...and to this day no one has adequately answered my question .

  i was responding to another thread about whether the elders were happy to get rid of me, and my answer got so long, i felt like i was hijaaking the thread.

  so i decided to tell a little more of my story here as a way of introducing myself, and of course to tell folks here how happy i am to make your acquaintances on the forum.

  i know this sounds like a stupid question.

  we haven't attended a meeting in almost a year.

  about 5 months ago they sent us a registered letter saying they wanted to meet with my husband and i and discuss charges of apostasy.

  You are too kind. I would not let that thought bother you. Always act like nothing has happened. You'll get the feeling soon enuf, as to whether " They Know about You ". And even if that is the case, I would still continue to be friendly and cordial towards them. Scares the bejesus out of them .

  Hawk and others.

  Do you think it's plausible that the U.S. and Brtain still have undisclosed info about additional weapons, that they are holding as their "trump" card, which they will use as the reason for launching an immediate attack without the UN approval ?

  I watched GWB last night and I'm more convinced then ever, he's going in no matter what, but I suspect he's not telling the whole story...yet.

  i will have you know i have the most lovely soft skin and my golden locks are the envy of my congregation... i have just been appointed chief microphone attendant and the sisters drool when i breeze up and down the aisles.
