Our area was really strict about dress codes. My husband newly baptized and very poor was told he couldn't give a talk until he had a real suit. He wore really nice dress pants with a suit jacket but I guess that didn't cut it. My friend was reproved twice for wearing odd suits. He loved the old 70's paisley stuff, green suits and stripped pants. He was denied Ministerial servant because of it. He was a regular pioneer for years regularly put in 120 hours. Thankfully, he's come over to our side! OH, and colored shirts are still a no no in these halls.

Eww, i hate to admit this but I was one of those true blue believers with a stick up my a**. I was devout, rabid and unflexible. I'd tell everyone, lest they try to make me do something unchristian. Maybe thats why I'm such a wild party girl now. I'll do anything, and I mean almost anything now. How do you find balance?? sigh...

I work in a restaurant in a fairly small town, so I'm constantly running across witnesses, I'm not officially d'f or dissassociated, but I have a feeling that my sister has let everyone know of my feelings on the matter, I just wait on them like normal and don't encourage to much conversation, act friendly and happy, then go in the kitchen and have a nervous breakdown. I'd never ever let them see me nervous because of them!

however, i was deeply shocked to see an example of the nations drinking habits in a film shown on bbc 1 last night.

Yep, we have minimum wage, but servers, (or wait staff) are exempt from law, said to make tips to cover the rest, so the restaurant is only required to pay half of minimum wage. We also have to tip out 3% of net sales to bar, bus and expo. It's a horrible scam. Believe me. We also are exempt from the law that says we get breaks. No breaks or lunch are required by restaurants. My husband who is a cook regulary works 10 hours without a break.

do you remember the "marked ones" within your cong, i remember a couple who you could see were trying there damm bloody hardest to be accepted within the congregation, always sat at the back never "invited into the fold" fully and there was always the "hmmmm dont associate with them too much, they are spiritually weak etc etc" i remember feeling so sorry for them but i just had to adhere to jah and his organisational ways.............sheesh !!!

Of course I remember, I was one of those marked ones. Wasn't doing anything wrong mind you,, but didn't belong to a family with the mommy and daddy and all that jazz, so I guess they figured I was doing SOMETHING, but truth was, the more they ignored me, the better I got, the more Pious I became till I could pass for a monk (monkess? female???) anyway, it wasn't always for something someone did, just for not being "quite right". Damn hypocritcal bastards.

I hate to be the serious one here, but I think I have an answer as to why she cut that guy off. I'm a waitress right now, and before we are allowed on the floor we have to go through a full day of alchol training, in which we are reminded over and over again, that if we allow someone to get drunk and then leave the restaurant,, and they get into an accident, we are the the one who will be named primarily in the lawsuit. Keep in mind that I only make 2.13 an hour,,, and I can be taken for everything I have if I allow some yo yo to drink more than 1 and 1/2 drinks per hour if they are eating and 1 drink per hour if they are eating. Crazy. You have to worry so much about getting sued, that you can't do anythink anymore.

The Two Towers
by Xander injust saw this.. great movie.
not as good as book, but about matches it roughly as good as fellowship matched the book.. gollum is class act - for those worried the little cgi creature wouldn't work, don't be!
he looks great - and the voice acting is dead one.. won't say too much, as spoilers might ruin it for some, but you really, really should see the extended edition dvd of the fellowship before seeing this movie.

Just saw the Two Towers last night, It knocked my socks off! I loved every second of it. If It didn't follow the book perfectly, (which I'm in the process of reading) its okay, they have to do some things for logistics and timing... I know I couldn't do a better job! I can't say enough about that movie.
Me want Legolas... drool, drool. Go away girls!
P.S. I have almost everything written by Terry Goodkind... he's a fantastic fantasy writer.
