I've always hated my name "Shantelle" no one pronounces it right and they all think I was named after Chantilly Lace, which I wasn't. I need a fun, funky, name. Like Sam, or Marti, or something pretty like Lauren. I kinda feel sorry for my brother as well. His name is "Cannon".

Would you rather have the truth, or your feelings spared?
by Bumble Bee inif it was me, i'd rather have the truth up front.
i went through an experience where someone didn't tell me the truth about a situation, thought that by not being totally honest, my feelings would be spared.
maybe at the time, they were, but afterwards when i found out the truth i was deeply hurt and confused.

Truth everytime for me.
Bleh, my brother is kinda having this problem. He has been married about 6 months, together with her for about 5 years. He realized he made a terrible mistake in marrying her, he just doesn't love her like a wife. He likes her like a buddy. He wants out of the marriage before any more time passes and he keeps telling her as gently as possible, but she is totally refusing to hear it. Just in complete denial. She is going to make him act like a total asshole. I hope I never not get something like that. Just such a sticky, sad situation to be in.

What was the "point of no return" for you?
by B_Deserter inwas there a point in leaving the organization where you did something that demonstrated that you had officially made your decision to leave?

I knew down deep I had enough, but never put it into words or did anything. I went to work and they were setting up a christmas party/gift list and being careful to exclude me because I was a witness and I just walked up to them and said go ahead and put me on this list for gifts, I also want to help decorate the tree. It was like ripping a bandaid off. Fast, clean and never been back. I was 30 celebrating my first christmas. Yay!

I just know so many people/experiences that remind me of this movie. I LOVED it. I love it when she was posing Uncle Rico for his glamour shot. And his drawing was just about the best thing he ever drew. LOL. I had someone draw me one of those silly pictures in school. They took it so seriously, like they were handing me the mona lisa or something. Course, I thought it was pretty important as well at the time.

Some cute jokes on religion I read today
by Hope4Others injesus in the bathroom.
a sunday school teacher of pre-schoolers was concerned that his students might be a little confused about jesus christ.
he wanted to make sure they understood that the birth of jesus occurred a long time ago, that he grew up, etc.

Would You Really Want To Live Forever With Dubs?
by shamus100 inhere is the hypothetical question of the day - would you, or more appropriately, could you live forever in paradise on earth with jw's?
with the hypocrosy, silly elders, silly people... feeding lions and cleaning up after animals... everyone living by waterfalls, like the jw's always portray in they're psychotic pamphlets..... or would you rather be dead.
i, personally, would much rather be dead.

I met a man at work and fell in love. My mom figured out that I was seeing someone, I think I acted too happy. She confronted me before work one day, I admitted that I wanted to marry this guy and she brought the house down, so I bailed and ended up at his friends house on the couch instead of going back home and into hell. I'd never been away from home (I was 24), even for one night, never gotten in trouble and wasn't sleeping with the guy from work but in the JC they insisted that I WAS sleeping with him and I had to go back home. I finally broke the silence of my family and told them in no uncertain terms why I could never go back, that I actually feared for my life. That she was severly abusive to me and my sister and I gave them years and years of details. They listened impassionately, and said it didn't matter. I had to go back or else. They didn't care one bit the danger I was in, they only cared that it looked bad that I was staying with worldly people and that I was supposedly commiting fornication. I never went back home. And I dont' regret it at all. I'm still married to that "worldly man" ten years later. :)
The lead elder told me how glad he was that he didn't have a daughter like me. I can't tell you how pleased I was to recently hear that his daughter left her husband and child and ran off with a disfellowshipped person. I hope he is eaten up with that.

Your Pretend Shrink is Back - Share Your Problems - I'll Help if I Can
by flipper inwell it's been about 2 to 3 months since i did a thread like this , so how have you all been doing in life?
relax , pull up a chair and your favorite cocktail , and tell me your problems - or at least how life is treating you.
we can make this a humorous thread or it can be serious , it's up to you.

Mr. Flipper,
This is actually my brothers problem, not mine. He recently married, about 6 months ago and just recently realized he made a terrible mistake. Its not that she is a bad woman, but she has completed melded into a zombie. Her whole entire life revolves around him, she has no opionins of her own, her hobbies are whatever hobbies his are, she basically just lives to make him happy. And its making him miserable. He no longer has an identity, she wants to be with him 24/7, thinks everything they do should be done together.
Okay. The problem. He told her he wants to split up. She just pretends he didn't say it. He says I want to break up and she says NO. We aren't breaking up. She then gets up makes dinner, cleans the house, polishs his shoes etc. (you get the picture).
How can he get out of this relationship without literally picking her up and tossing her out of the house? She is in total and complete denial. He doesn't want to act like an asshole.
Thanks!
