New magazine cover from the religion that calls former believers "mentally diseased"....
by cedars inapparently "prejudice" applies only to racial equality and has nothing to do with diverse sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
it's news to me, but that's the only way i can explain this latest cover from the society.. http://download.jw.org/files/media_magazines/86/wp_e_20130601.pdf.

Long Overdue Observation
by earthfire ini just thought this was funny when it popped into my head this morning.
funny because i should have thought of it long ago and i'm sure that i'm not the first to think this.
the big point comes after my little spiel.. so, god tells noah to build an ark because he has a lot of killing of the wicked to do and only noah and his family seem to be good enough.

But I've heard that a lot of different cultures/religions have a similar flood story.....

Also, JW propose to be the "ark" when, actually, Jesus is. I think the point is that God provides way of escape or a savior. And we have to remember that his ways are not our ways and we only can see a little bit of the puzzle and he is looking at the finished product and everything fits together perfectly. That's why Satan is so crafty and uses confusion. Yes, faith is important! Personally, I stubbornly hold on to my faith, regardless of what I am told!

I believe the flood story...but more than that, I get the message of it. Even if some of the stories aren't literally true, you can still get the actual "moral" of the story, which is more important, probably.

Jehovah generously provides?
by Rattigan350 inthe june 15 2013 w pg 13, para 6&7 has an experience of a pioneer that needed $66 to pay her rent the next day.
she prayed and went to work at her job as a waitress.
when she finished her shift she had received a total of $66 in tips.

My grandma told me a story like that that happened in the 60's. She needed exactly something like $52 and she prayed and they got the money. I said that was because God answered your prayer not because you were a Jehovah's witness...and then I thought...that's the only answered prayer that you got ever? That's sad!

Is this true? Do the elders really do it like this?
by Julia Orwell ini put this week's wt paragraph about disfellowshipping on my fb page and said how poor robert's family didn't even check to see whether he was dead or alive in 16 years and a friend of mine of the 'conscious class' commented about how unchristian she felt disfellowshipping to this degree is, and i agreed.. another friend, and uber-jw who has a host of illnesses and yet pioneers, who everytime she and her husband go to another congregation, if he's not appointed within three years they move to another and try for an appointment there - he used to be an elder and no one is willing to promote him again- replied to my thread.
now keep in mind she has a dfd son and she doesn't even know whether he is dead or alive, because she follows the wt to the tee.
she replied, among other things, with this:.

I do have a story, though. When I was about 9 (and barely conscious of anything around me, really) I was in class and they asked if anyone would like to be in the paper. I, of course, raised my hand high. So what we had to do was pretend to be working on a...christmas tree cutout thing made of construction paper. Whatever, though, I wanted to be in the paper. So I did it. The next day, of course, it was on the front page and my pink jacket was standing out so clear. So that next book study on Monday night, which was held at a sister's house. I tried to raise my hand to answer and they wouldn't call on me. I then started to raise my hand on every paragraph and they still wouldn't call on me. Some of the people around me suggested that maybe they didn't see me, even though there were only about 20 of us there. I then started to stand up and raise my hand and they still refused. I cried. So that next Wednesday, they called me to the back and told me why they didn't call on me was the article in the newspaper. Oh...oops. Well, so I wasn't allowed to comment at the meeting for about a month. Well, because of the kind of kid I was, that made me not even want to answer very much at all anymore. You think they could have told me that in the beginning of the book study, right. So cruel. I have no doubt they would disfellowship someone on the spot!!

Any "inappropriate" or "saucy" conversations out in Field Service car groups???
by Gojira_101 ini thought of one that happened to me, i think i was 16 and regular pioneering at the time.
i was in fs with my friend, i think she had to be about 18, and we were in a van with older married sisters, my friend and i were the only single ones.
there were 6 of us in this van and my friend and i of course were forced to sit in the back (meaning we couldn't escape by jumping out of a moving van), anyway, the conversation turned to discussing molestation.. the two oldest sisters sitting in the front then started going into detail about how they had been molested, and it wasn't just "i was molested by..." no they went into detail.. i was shocked!

Nothing really inappropriate...just usual gossip.

Wow, Londo, what a heartbreaking story! I was out for about 2 years and my life was falling apart and so I wanted the whole "prodigal son" return. So I called up my parents and told them I wanted to come home, which meant, return to everything I once knew. I was broken from the world. Then they told me that I could but couldn't bring my "lifestyle" with me. They completely misunderstood my repentence. So I didn't go home and shortly after met my (now) husband and we have a child and a wonderful life, starting going to a baptist church about 4 years ago and now know the truth - Jesus! But what a journey to get here!! My parents/family would never leave either, just because they are ingrained socially and they bought everything hook, line and sinker! I never did get disfellowshipped, and am really avoiding it, to tell you the truth, because I don't want the complete shunning and I don't believe in it. I think people will repent on their own if they are really a follower of Jesus...and, didn't he forgive our sins already? Sin isn't the master of us anymore if we are truly "saved"...what in the world, right? I do believe that sometimes sharing with someone (more like an accountability partner or mentor) if you have fallen into sin, and then you can pray together and encourage each other, but the agony and guilt that sin brings on...that is punishment enough!!
