The Memorial - New Covenant

so, i went to the memorial tonight.

i've been out for about 10 years, but i went at my husband's suggestion to placate my parents.

i listened to the talk and about 90% of what they said, i agreed with.

So, if they can deceive people into thinking that they are not in the new covenant, but still believe in Jesus sacrifice to cover their sins....what is the harm in this...really?

Of course, there is the fact that it is incorrect, but what is the purpose of deceiving these people? To keep them from really being saved?

It's just that my whole family (not my husband or son) is in it and I wonder if they are really saved. They believe in the sacrifice of Jesus to forgive their sins, but do not believe they are born again or that they are a part of the new covenant. Is this the point? Since they don't believe these things, they aren't saved and so that is Satan's plan to deceive millions (as was pointed out tonight as to the number of non-partakers)

So, I went to the memorial tonight. I've been out for about 10 years, but I went at my husband's suggestion to placate my parents. I listened to the talk and about 90% of what they said, I agreed with. The part about the new covenant, though, made me kind of upset because I understand all believers are part of the new covenant and I don't agree with their logic. (also the logic that we don't choose to be born the first time, so we can't possibly choose to be born again)

That being said. What is the purpose that Satan could have in making people believe they weren't a part of the new covenant?

I just thought, a little leaven spoils the whole loaf...

Attending memorial tomorrow?

this is my first year i will not attend memorial.

to be honest if it wasn't for my husband i would probably be going still.

he says what's the point, don't be one of those people who doesn't give a sh** but just shows there face once a year.

My husband said we should go to placate the family. I want to be true to myself and my own beliefs, but he's a little less black and white than me. Since he never was a JW, he doesn't see the big deal in going to make the family happy. Maybe it won't be. We shall see. I got a new dress for it, haha....

I talk about Jesus to my mom and she gets a sad look on her face and once she said "He's going to give the kingdom back to Jehovah anyway"....so, there's that. I'm not sure why she gets so upset when I mention him.

For Witnesses Attending the Memorial!

(1 corinthians 11:23-25) ".......that the lord jesus on the night on which he was going to be betrayed took a loaf, 24 and after giving thanks, he broke it and said: "this means my body, which is in your behalf.

keep doing this in remembrance of me.

" 25 he did the same with the cup also, after they had the evening meal, saying: "this cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood.

My family invited me and I was all set to say No. (I am not DF, but I happily go to a baptist church now) I was hurt a little when my mom said she'd make dinner and we'd all ride together. That sounds nice, but...she has never invited us to dinner otherwise. Unless I happened to already be at her house when dinner was served. So, I was still going to say no. Then my husband insisted that we should go to placate my parents. He says we need family and it is important to them. He has never been a JW, so has no idea what going means. The false hope that it will give my mom, the tears, the awkwardness for me as the people that I knew all my life ignores me, the ridiculousness of their logic that makes me angry. I explained this to him, but we're going. Well, at least I got to get a new dress. :/

I would say that after resurrection, they would have to clean up all the dead bodies of people killed at armageddon and restore the earth to a paradise themselves. Also, that they would grow increasingly perfect as time goes on....and younger. Wow. Insane.

Has anybody been guilted/emotionally blackmailed into attending the 2015 Memorial?

hello everybody, i was wondering if anyone has been guilted or emotionally blackmailed into attending the memorial this year.

something along the lines of "if you loved your family you would at least attend the memorial".

i myself haven't attended in 5 years.

I went last year so I can see what they were saying to people these days. It was awkward, my family barely spoke to me, just looking at me strange. When I go to their house, we can talk freely and everyone is normal, but there, it was so awful. My mom was close to tears and literally, a conversation was impossible. My mom invited me on a facebook message and I just responded "thanks for the invitation" But I am certainly not going through that again. And I believe we should take the emblems.

i see no logic in it.

i see what appears to be some scriptural contradictions but i see no merit in a trinitarian view of god.. .

This will probably be heresy according to Cofty...but I think of it like a family. God is a family consisting of The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. All one in purpose and spirit. I don't think humans have it figured out, but I don't think God is mad at us for trying. We are trying to seek him and understand. That has to say something. I pray sometime that God would show me the truth or forgive our small minds for insisting that we know how everything is. I think if the bible had clear-cut answers to everything, we would just move on to something else. The problem is, that people want to be God. Everyone does, we want to control everything, know everything, be perfect. But, people are incapable of this and need to, instead, turn to God for all of that and worship him.
