Child feeds with rats in temple(weird pic)
by ISP inchild shares milk with 'holy' temple rats
a child has been sharing milk from a bowl with a group of "holy" rats at an indian temple.. hundreds of rats live undisturbed at the karni mata hindu temple in deshnoke, rajasthan.. .
it's known locally as "rat temple".. the high priests protect the rats because their bodies are thought to house the souls of dead worshippers.. there are special holes allowing the rats to move around the temple.. it's said if you spot a white rat, you'll have good luck.

Gilead Couples - *gag*
by joeshmoe ini was just thinking about the snoozefest i used to go through with each new gilead class.
the introductions were the worst!
im not sure you get the same feel from the doctored up articles in the wt, but listening to the couples was just maddening.. there was always at least 3 or 4 couples that would say the exact same thing: well, i wanted to be a missionary but couldnt go without a partner and my husband/wife was in the same predicament so we got married and here we are.

It's sad...people in the Org either get married because its a good Political (believe me, this type of spirituality can get very political) match, or because they're simply desparate to have sex. Either way, its bad news.

Are there any ex-missionaries here??
by fulano ini have been a missionary in the dominican republic for almost 10 years and i was wondering if there were any ex-missionaries on this forum.. i am back in my country now for 3 years and totally inactive.. what i noticed in those missionary-years was the lack of spiritual interest among the missionaries.. discussions were about rooms, cars and greater responsibilities, the bad territory.
and the local c.o.s and d.os.. was this only in the dr or are there other experiences??.
ere other experiences?

I "served" in Ireland for two years (the only missionary hope for sisters who didn't want to marry and go to Gillead with their husbands). I think the entire country wasn't interested. And, talk about "God Will never leave a servant begging for bread", I was actually hospitalized for malnutrition and even resorted to begging for food at times. It was the begining of the end of my time as a JW.

TERMINOLOGY
by Perfection Seeker infor those of you who have successfully left the organization, how long till the "terminology" leaves?
you know "the truth" "worldly" "the brotherhood" etc.

I think alot of the terminology stays forever. Here's an example to let you know it's not just the JWs. A few years ago, my mom and I went to a funeral with a full Catholic Mass. My mother had not set foot in a Catholic Church for 30 years, yet, she told me she knew all the "responses" to be said during the mass. Those terms are indoctrinated in your mind and hard to remove.

Jws that post here
by WildTurkey indo you think these people, who come in here, on this board and defend jws are for real?
do you think they really are good little jws?
do you think they really want to help us, or just start trouble?
-
zenpunk
I know that good little JWs are prohibited from even glancing at this message board (as it is "big-time apostate") let alone sign up and start a thread. I think these people are just starting trouble and it is a shame because there are some JWs that post here that are truly having a "Crisis of Conscience" and need our help.

Would you rather have more time or more cash?
by Leander init seems like unless you're incredibly wealthy or lucky that its impossible to have both at the same time, especially if you're a working stiff.
right now between my wife and i we make a fairly decent living, however we don't have a lot of time to do things together (or alone) until the weekend comes around.
and we all know how short weekends can be, not to mention if a lot of errands need to be done that can eat up your time fairly quick.

This year I decided to take a 20% pay cut and work four days a week. Yea, my days eating at good restaurants are over, but to have the extra day to go to the beach, etc. while everyone else is at work is totally worth it.

'I really feel God protected me'
by ashitaka inokay, folks.
whenever people say these kind of things in disasters i think, "well, what about the other guy who got killed?
god didn't feel like saving little johnny today?
-

This reminds me of how, whenever there would be a major disaster, people in the congregation would always ask how many JWs got killed. Like the rest didn't matter.....

Secret WTS Social Agenda
by spaz inthis is a both a departure from the conventional paleo-hellenic concepts of logic to a primitive yet equally tenable principle of,'actions speaking louder than words', and a synopsis.. the wts is but one of many groups which are devoted to the disintergration of the traditional or biblical family structure, via nefarious means, as part of a greater plan that envisions a two-class new world order resembling feudalism.. .
the philosophic means to achieve this state is non-biblical.
the wts repudiates the christian principle of "loving your neighbour as yourself " by adopting an altruistic approach which demands to 'love your neighbour above yourself ".

Oh please! The WTS reminded me more of the US 1950s male/female stereotypes! The are very few female breadwinners in the WTS - unless housecleaning brings in a lot more money than it did 10 years ago.
