Blood Transfusions are Biblically Supported
by allpoweredup into jehovah's witnesses elders: blood transfusions are biblically supported: acts 15:20 says abstain from blood but 1 samuel 14:32-5 says saul's army ate unbled meat to not starve and no verses show god not forgiving them.
christ says god also forgave david's eating temple holy bread to survive and that god wants mercy not sacrifice.
(mt 12) the may 22, 1994 awake tells of 26 jehovah's witness kids who died without transfusions, and by common sense in massive bleeding as in car wrecks blood expanders won't save lives http://www.ajwrb.org.

Nassau Colisseum contract with Society under threat
by truthseeker injust heard from a friend who attends a cong.
in long island - the elder said that the dubs should not buy food outside the colisseum (there is a mcdonalds nearby) as the contract the society has with nassau would be under threat.. this seems to be a new phenomenon - are the vendors putting extreme pressure on them to let them sell food?.
the gap between the morning and afternoon sessions is called an intermission.

I can assure you this is going on in many countries.
In Canada we are also
orderedinstructed to bring our own lunch and not go out for it. Infact, I heard that a major dispute as to why in Montreal the conventions are not held at the Olympic Stadium is that the concession stands of the stadium wanted absolutely to remain open during the program (these concession stands also sell beer!).The bOrg instead asks the drones to drive hours to other cities to attend programs. Isn't it interesting, a major city like Montreal not having District Assemblies?

Kingdom Mininstry Scan?
by Blueblades inanyone know why the kingdom ministry is no longer being scanned on this forum, is it about copywrite laws?
someone used to scan them , then it stopped.the kingdom ministry can only be had by attending the meetings, we don't attend anymore, so, we don't get our copy anymore.

KEEP ON THE WATCH
by belbab inrecently a friend of mine brought me a magazine that a jw gave him on the street.
it is entitled keep on the watch with sub titles: for what?

It's not a WTS magazine, it's a brochure that was released at the 2004 District Conventions.

I don't know if this would be considered a "scandal" per se...
by CeriseRose infor the first time in as many years as i can remember they moved the district convention from the large pacific national exhibition centre (pne), and divided the convention into 2 parts and all the jws in the area are assigned to go 4 hours north of here, get accommodations etc.. they came out with this back when i was *just* leaving the org.
i asked my jw friend and the comment back from her was that they hadn't been able to book the pne and so everyone was doing this.
i think that's a load of crap...they've moved the assembly weekend before when they've had the weekend they wanted booked, and to another weekend.

What's interesting is that Montreal being the large city that it is has not had JW conventions in the last few years. Infact, for the last 9 years they have been having the conventions in Sherbrooke, QC (2 hours away), and only recently moved the English language circuit to Cornwall, ON (1 1/4 hour drive) to be with other English speaking JWs in the area.

A House Built on Fallacies
by Farkel inhere are just a few examples of the kinds of fallacious dub arguments we've heard and used ourselves when we were dubs.
heck, the whole darn religion is nothing but a series of fallacious arguments!.
ad hominem - (attack the arguer, not the argument).

Great post Farkel!
Truly eyeopening to see how arguments can be manipulated.

This I've visited this site a few times and found the information very revealing. Generally speaking, in countries which are considered more affluent, where internet access and printed material are available to do research on JWs we note that growth has levelled off somewhat, including: Canada, USA, Western Europe and Oceania. Other geographic locations such as Central and South America, Africa, and Eastern Europe growth is greater because access to information is not as readily availabe.
