By the way Jeff, I like your plan. Make sure you mail the letters out on a Thursday afternoon so that they all get delivered before the Elders can make a general announcement to the congregation.

Here are a few of my favorites.
- The Society teaches that the worldwide anointed remnant is the Faithful Slave who receives direction from Jehovah. Yet the Watchtower Society doesn't consult this group before issueing their teachings. Rather, the worldwide anointed find out about doctrinal matters in the magazines like everyone else. Is the Society really following their own beliefs regarding the Faithful and Discrete Slave?
- The Society teaches that the "Tree Dream" in Daniel CH 4 refers to a 2520 year period ending in 1914. Yet, in that same Chapter (Da 4:22-24) Daniel says the meaning of the dream only applied to Nebuchanezzar. What makes the Society believe there is some hidden meaning? Could this be the reason the prediction about the 1914 "Generation" failed? Why didn't Jesus and the Apostles notice this t? Is it true that the Charles Taze Russell borrowed this formula from the Adventists?
- Why does the Society continue to keep teaching "The End is Near" when Luke 21:8 clearly says they should not?
- Why would Jehovah allow so many false predictions , dates and incorrect teachings to be printed by the Society if all of mankind's salvation depends on recognizing the Society as being the only source of truth?
- The Society teaches that every person on Earth will be executed by Jehovah if they do not respond to the "Issue of Universal Sovereignty". Why is this "Issue" discussed NOWHERE by Jesus, the Apostles or anywhere in the Bible?

Rank and Baseless New Light speculation
by FreeWilly inwarning, conspiracy theory ahead!
in the past few years we've seen a few of the old-school anointed gb members pass away.
given the fact that major organizational issues are decided by a vote within the gb, i wonder if the balance of power is shifting.

Sombody mentioned Sam Herd - good point. However, I gotta wonder how many more Sam Herd's they have waiting in the wings. Brother Losche is fairly young, but they had to ship him in all the way from Germany. Brother Lett is young too, and he came from the CO ranks. The older GB were typically long time Bethelites that climed the laddar. More and more they are looking outside.
My guess is that there are many more "I'm anointed so people think I'm spaaicial" types swirling around out there..
Awwwh heck it's probably nothing. Wouldn't it be great if one of us 'called it' though? If so, that person should receive a special JWD Title: Resident Prophet (prophetess)

In fact I've head a number of Bethel heavies jokingly use the phrase "so-n-so who claims to be of the anointed". Brothers who are appointed to positions of high authority at Bethel nowadays typically do NOT claim to be anointed . If they did claim to be anointed - especially within the last 30 or 40 years - they would be looked upon somewhat as weirdo's and probably not progress, especially at Bethel. Yet, as things stand now, all of the major organizational decisions are made by the GB who by definition, must be anointed. Someone has to run the ship, and those "someone's" have to be anointed. The hierarchy at Brooklyn could fear that their teaching regarding Anointed Organizational leadership is leaving them no choice but to choose from an ever growing pool of crazy wanne-be anointed ones to takeover the reigns of their Billion Dollar Organization. I can't think that's going to happen.

In the past few years we've seen a few of the old-school anointed GB members pass away. Given the fact that major organizational issues are decided by a vote within the GB, I wonder if the balance of power is shifting. Perhaps the younger blood doesn't share the old-school's penchant for fringe teachings. Perhaps we will see the Organization move closer toward mainstream. This too could be a strategic opportunity to vote on changes that would not have passed with the old-schoolers still alive. OR, it could be something much more insidious altogether (Buu ha ha ha haaaaa).
I think the teaching surrounding 1935 could be up for revision. This one is losing credibility fast as time goes by (just like the generation teaching). The Society teaches that all of the 144,000 anointed were identified and "sealed" in 1935. Thereafter, any post 1935 anointed ones could only be replacements for any of the Pre-1935ers who fell away. The Society also teaches that these anointed will be alive during the great tribulation, so there always have to be some anointed ones on Earth running the show. If the GB are dying off, they have to replace them with more anointed. SOOOOooooo, what's happening is that they are running out of Pre-1935 anointed ones. Typically, anyone who has claimed to be anointed in the past 70 some years is/was looked upon with some skepticism. Sure some post-1935 Brothers are considered respectable, but many of the "claimed to be anointed" ones are often considered crazies.

Latest WT study article - preparation for upcoming new light?
by truth_about_the_truth in.
the latest wt study article seemed like an article to prep the masses for 'new light' to be revealed in the very near future.. i have never seen an article like this one where they summarized their 'flashes of light' in their history in this manner and bombarded the minds with the need to accept all and any change within the org.. it could be for the purpose of getting the rank and file to accept a pretty big change or a series of big changes very soon.. what do you think?
what do you think it'll be?.

I specifically recall the 1914/generation change when I was at Bethel. It was a BIG BIG buzz at the time. We all heard rumors about it 2 days before it was sent to Walkill to be printed as a Watchtower. Sure enough, they were true. I remember being in a small group of brudda's standing around the "rejects" pile of the printing presses. This was the very first time anything was officially said regarding the 1914/Generation change. At the next morning worship Bethelites were counseled about Bethel Family confidentiality and how we should not spoil the surprise for those in the congregations by telling them what was in the magazines before they were received. At Bethel we typically had a 1 month lead on magazines before the subscriptions went out. Then, 2-3 weeks after the subscriptions went out, general delivery (kingdom hall) magazines went out.
A few of us speculated how long this change was in the works, since we knew it would be later addressed at the conventions. The total lead time from an articles finish to its production in the form of a Watchtower was about 3 months. We figured they decided on the change at least 6 months prior to it's release in the Watchtower, giving enough time for research, comments, drafts and copy edits. It was no coincidence. "The Flashes of Light" study articles were carefully timed to have been studied before any New Light was even rumored.
I'm not sure of the exact timing (May I think), but I am positive the "New Light" was first made known in a Watchtower. I am almost certain too, that it was about 1 month before any of the District conventions. It is possible that someone could have had an early Convention and not received the Watchtower before attending the Convention, but that would have been timed very close.... it would have been an exception. I distinctly remember follow-up morning worship talks that reprimanded Bethelites for not keeping their traps shut and letting the new light outa the bag before the subscriptions were received. (I remember chuckling to myself..."yeah right, you think your gonna keep gossip this big quiet.... good luck)
