i had an interesting chat with a jw on yahoo messenger yesterday.
of course, he was using "theocratic war strategy," at least at first, and pretended not to be a jw, but someone who was asking a lot of questions about them.
he opened the conversation by asking if i wanted to discuss 'the meaning of life'.
I find the proof of God's compassion and existence in the fact that he has set me free from being terrified of Him. If it comes, I'm ready now for a paradise earth or heaven or whatever. If it doesn't come, then I shall just continue to live my life and contribute in a positive way to my world.

the more meetings you go to the more drivel you hear.
elder's meetings were terrible because all you ever did was gossip about how everyone wasn't doing this or that.
meetings for field service sucked.....enough said on that.
The sunday talks about science and creation v. evolution would literally make me writhe when I was in college and learning things that completely contradicted what these poor, uneducated guys were trying to say. They weren't necessarily bad guys, just completely ignorant of the scientific subjects they were discussing. Nobody in the audience knew enough to catch the wrongness of it all, either. Stupid, stupid, willfully ignorant people!
And any talk about the Trinity... useless, meaningless, stupid, and irrelevant to my life!!!

He's full of himself and sure of his own righteousness - he's got a real calvinist streak when it comes to the rest of us, however, assuring me that unless I attain perfection quickly it will be too late. He makes some astounding predicitions that might sway some unsteady ones with their boldness and directness, however, his research methods are... strange... because they rapidly devolve into conspiracy theories.
He seems to delight in issuing forth proclamations against the watchtower, which he still claims represents God's people. He says JW's are definitely God's people, but that they are also going to suffer divine wrath. He wants it two ways.

if you go and look at the full answer you will see that he does not answer the question at all but pads out his reply, casting red herrings into the water so that it appears to be an answer and by the time you have read to the end you have, more or less forgotten what the question was.
this reminds me of a mormon i used to correspond with.
His game is an old one - he's spent too much time with his nose in old books and has gotten this weird messianic complex. He presumes to utter judgements on everything under the sun, including what he deems to be the correct interpretation of Bible Prophecy. His writings are interesting, but a little research using his supporting links leads you to bizarre conspiracy theory websites.
The proof is in the pudding, as it were. He claims to have a message from God, to have interpreted the prophecies correctly. Let's see if America falls like he claims, if the Watchtower crumbles like his theories presuppose.
Private correspondence with him led only to his claim that I was deceiving myself, was an unacceptable sinner, and that I'd better repent before the nuclear weapons start popping.

sorry i just need to vent a little bit,, after i became inactive i moved away from my home congregation and town and things were really peaceful for a while.
i even thought that i might get to avoid the february/ march elder visits as nobody knows me in my new location.
yesterday, i saw two sisters coming to the door and i didn't answer to hopefully avoid a confrontation.
Farkel, Ven, you rock. I'm laughing as hard as the time I saw that picture of Bean with the willy problems.
My advice is to go ahead and da yourself - it's like ripping off a bandaid and they'll leave you alone.
Then take out your frustrations by picketing a convention - they'll definitely leave you alone after that!
