  What do you live for?

  i have been wondering, .

  before, while in the borg, many of us were under intense indoctrination of ideas like; "live for god", "look to the new system were everything will be perfect.." .

  --not in those very words but you know what i mean... .

  I'm with alfie!

  I'm also living to make the world a better place for the kids. I do a lot of theater to fill my time. Love to act and write and direct.

  Mostly, life is a game called Grace over Time. Maintain your grace for all of your allotted time, and you're about ready to move to the next level. I just hope I get to take the lessons I've learned from this round into the next one.

  sincerely, I do believe in a benevolent God, which means there is life after death. Because sapience without real hope is the cruelest joke gift imaginable.

  Anyone been assaulted by a Jw?

  Got into fights in junior high.

  I've never been assaulted by a jw, tho have been because of BEING a jw.

  Which leads me to an offshoot of the main topic, here.

  Growing up as a JW is hard because you are totally weird and different, you're STUCK UP about it, and you aren't allowed to "return evil for evil" so self-defense is out of order. Now, maybe in the ghetto fighting back will lead to knife fights or some such, but in my mixed race neighborhood of the middle class, it just leads to fists being tossed.

  If only I'd had the belief that I could nail Jeff McQuillan between the eyes and not suffer divine wrath for doing so, I wouldn't have spent three years in juniour high hell. It was tough enough without having him urinating on my underwear during swimming class and other jokes.

  Should I continue to support Bill Bowen?

  i have contributed financially to the cause of silentlambs.org and have, to a smaller extent, even promoted the website.

  it is difficult enough to fathom the depth of hurt heaped on humankind, but impossible for me to understand how such suffering can be compounded with injustice, as i read experiences on silentlambs.org.

  What I was afraid of seems to have come to pass.

  When I first heard of the Silent Lambs, I was thrilled that the corruption that reeked through the organization was being exposed. Like it or not, this org is part of my life and I must deal with the lies I grew up with for the rest of my life. Whatever.

  But instinctively I knew that these battered lambs were in terrible danger of being used to fulfill the powertripping fantasies of an unscrupulous character. I kept flinching as stories about Bill's personal ego and vendetta tactics flooded the board.

  I think that Bill has been corrupted by the power he has piled up. I don't trust him, and certainly won't give him my money. The cause is good, but the leader is off somewhere attacking people that have nothing to do with him.

  What I see Bill wanting is to divide the apostate community and force as many of us as care about this issue under his shadow. He's made Silent Lambs about HIM instead of about the lambs.

  Oh well. Another leader disillusions me. Big whoop. Surprise.

  i remember the good old days back in the 80's, when i was but a tiny tot, and folks used to stand outside the convention with megaphones and shout and try to hand out apostate literature.. now that i'm older, it sounds like fun.

  anybody do that kind of thing these days?.

  the bible says that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and unrighteous.

  the jws apply this teaching as though the resurrection is an earthly one.

  So by the end, there will be two clearly distinguished camps, God's Kingdom and Gog's Kingdom.

  It'll be a clear choice, though not necessaraly an easy one.

  Yep. My girlfriend and I are still together and doing fairly well because of Jehovah. I don't believe in the Watchtower, but Someone surely answers to that ancient name.

  i was reading about a recent scientific discovery in a new book about human sexuality.

  it has long been in evidence that married women who are having an affair often fail to get pregnant.

  as soon as one of the sexual partners leaves the relationship pregnancy often occurs quickly thereafter.. scientists may have discovered a mechanism for this.

  some reports say that they cause brain tumours...?

  they also save a lot of lives (indirectly, of course) by allowing the user to dial for emergency services when there isn't a payphone nearby.

  It's the only phone I have. I need a landline to get DSL installed.

  My live-in and I have a shared plan that costs about $100 a month. The bonus is that long-distance (in the US) is free.

  And calls between our two phones don't count against our minutes.

  We have ATT, which is the best.

  When I lived in Oklahoma, I had a phone with Hellular. They soaked me for 2 c-notes when I suddenly had to move back home.
