first off i would like to thank you all for your replies and the warm welcome.
i was not expecting this.
i wasn?t expecting you to cuss me out either, but anyway thanks.
they said I was on dangerous ground thinking the way I was.
Most likely the elders thought: "What the... is this guy thinking he is..."
Welcome to the board.

another watch tower teaching that could shorty cause the society a serious problem is the great multitude of 1932 / 1935.if the great tribulation fails to occur reasonably soon, this too could bring about a major change, i.e generation teaching, while the two teachings may appear to be linked, the dates are almost twenty years apart in application,i.e.
1914 --1932 / 35.. the great multitude of 1932 / 35 who stood up to be identified are well into their late 70's ,early 80's at this time,2003.just as the long standing "this generation" has been reinterpreted, perhaps a new doctrinal reinterpretation of the great multitude will be made, adversely affecting untold numbers of potential ones who will come out of "the great tribulation"as "the great mutitude "of survivors.. i know that the society is trying to put off these teachings,"this generation,"the great tribulation" "the great multitude" and "armageddon" into the indefinite future, however life goes on,people grow old and die.so, how long can they keep this up.. my guess is that the winds of internal turmoil will get stronger, the near future will be telling as members of the great multitude die off.as they see another hoped for fulfillment die off along with them.
blueblades, who has felt the effects of these things too.what are your thoughts?.
1914 --1932 / 35.
I don't think that the "great multitude" doctrine is a major problem for the WT. What is a major problem is the teaching that "annointed ones" who were identified as being a separate class in 1935 would still be alive at the time of "great tribulation".
Is this what you meant?
Observador.
over the last few years, it has become apparent that the teachings which were popular in the 80s, the ones that have not changed (unlike the generation of 1914), are no longer being mentioned in the study articles.. teachings like the 1200 days, the gentile times, even 1914 is not referenced with 607bce anymore.
it seems as if each article is nothing more than a lesson, how can we do more, give more, donate more etc.. it seems that only their books contain the doctrine they expound, the watchtower has no doctrine.. what happened to the articles on hellfire, immortality of the soul, condition of the dead?
these are never mentioned in wt articles.. the quality of the articles is so dumb it's laughable.
That's a great topic.
When I was in, sometimes I wondered why the magazines would bring hard-to-read topic such as prophecies for a public who wouldn't like us to be even at their doors to begin with.
So, in my struggle with my faith in this religion, sometimes I thought it would be a good idea to have two types of publications: one for internal comsumption and another for public comsumption. Now, I see how ridiculous that would be!
And it seems they're doing it!

thanks to everyone on this board, and thank you simon for having this board.. .
when i first went here, i just wanted to see what people were saying about a religion that had been a big part of my life, and i found support.
i had been so upset at myself for letting the religion get to me...for it being something i left physically, but not mentally and emotionally.
You're right, jwbot.
And sometimes even just reading people's story will do a lot of healing. I'm glad you feel better.
if a "critical mass" of witnesses started to observe the following, what kind of reaction to you think hq would have?
what percentage of witnesses would you consider to be a "critical mass?
" in other words, how many does it take to make behavior snowball?
Spudinator,
applying seriously what you or willy suggested would be nice, but would involve changing the whole system and mentality, I think.
Jesus faced the same problem, which led him to say:
"Nobody sews a patch of unshrunk cloth upon an old outer garment; for its full strength would pull from the outer garment and the tear would become worse. Neither do people put new wine into old wineskins; but if they do, then the wineskins burst and the wine spills out and the wineskins are ruined. But people put new wine into new wineskins and both things are preserved." - Mat. 9:16

this issue has a photo of the earth on the cover, taken from space with the title question in bold type.
i am no itellectual, but you do not need to be in order to throw some very basic criticisms at the writer .
the lead article opens with an "appeal to authority" argument, in that the poet john milton believed that paradise would be regained , along with others in history such as irenaeus of the 2nd century .
Gary,
Never trust a man who uses a book he wrote as his authority
How true!
as many of you know, i am 63, and left the religion about 40 years ago.
i was raised in it and would like to explain what it was like compared to today.
first of all, back in the mid to late 40's the patriotism of the u.s. was very high and the treatment at the door was very harsh.
Hey Gary,
Nothing they promised me ever came true. GaryB
Oh, one thing did come true. They told me if I ever left, they would shun me. They have kept that promise.
I enjoyed your post. The Watchtower has changed indeed!
Thanks everyone for sharing.

hello folks,.
let me tell you in advance that this post has no intention of hurting anyone.
the efforts made by those spearheading the efforts to help vicki are truly commendable.
Hello Prisca,
As I understand it, non-prophet.com is a web host provider, which is transparent to the visitor.
Rev has kindly promised to host the webpage for us.
Now, the domain name - like the one I suggested above - is a totally different thing. The domain name is what is typed on the browser window by the user. (or, in case the user came from a link, the domain name is what appears on the address field). The domain name needs to be choosen carefully and must be registered with a domain-name provider. Taking care of all this is what I'm voluteering for.
But thanks for your input.

Rev,
Thank you so much. I didn't know of the existence of non-prophet.com. Thanks a lot for letting us know.
Hawkaw,
I would urge you to contact and help Scully and Ex_pat out in the matter.
Absolutely. Scully and Expatbrit, you've got mail.
Folks, I feel that we can definitely do better. I am willing to help. I can't silence when I feel I can contribute.
Being English not my first language and not living in Canada, I was a little hesitant, but time has come for me to do something.
I appeal to those who speak natively languages other than English to contact those spearheading these efforts.
I appeal to those who have web design skills to contact them or myself so that we could work something out.
Please reply to this message with any suggestions for a domain name you feel is efective/easy to remember.
Again, I praise those who have done something, but I feel we can and will do better if we pull TOGETHER by pooling our resources and abilities. The WT will feel what it means when a bunch of well-coordinated people work together.
Thank you all.
