"In former-communist countries like Poland we have special vocab for such arrangements. This one is a "kombinat" - a large self-sustainable totalitarian factory complex whose workers get paid with the money produced by the factory. And they can only spend this money at the factory store. "
How true, Pole!
It made me think about how Amway business works: it's so hard to fulfill their quotas that "employees" have to buy the products themselves.

"If there is an increase then Jehovah is 'speeding things along in his due time'. If things are dropping off like they are, all of a sudden its ' the love of the greater number' 'cooling off'. They have all there mis-quotes all nicely arranged to keep everyone locked in."
The other day I got a message from a confused JW, and what I said to him was similar to what you said above:
When the number are up, "Jehovah is blessing the organization"; when numbers are down, then "Jehovah is allowing a cleasing of his people to take place; wasn't this prophesied?".

Kingdavid,
you did nothing to warrant your deletion from the board!
And I thought you were gone for good...
Now that you're back, please tell us what is it that the thread starter said that is a lie? Don't go away, please, please... Let's talk.

District Assembly, Elland Road, Leeds about 15 years ago

it was at the district assembly where the questions young people ask book was launched.
all the young ones had to move and sit together in one stand of the football stadium.

In my family we were 13 JWs, counting the extended family members like wives, nieces and nephews.
Out of 13, 3 is out.
But this is not what I see in the area I grew up. I have seen cases where the whole family but 1 boy is out (this boy after some backs and forths stayed clearly for social reasons; nowhere to go...)
Another family of the same Hall, whose parents lived in the back of Hall (the father was an "elder"), the situation got so bad that they had to vacate the house they were living: out of 4 children, 1 is in.

Getting out...terminating Bible study
by PClark in.
i have been visited by a local jw woman weekly for almost 4 years and started weekly study about 1 year ago.
friday things took a more serious turn and i am very uncomfortable.. i need advise on how to stop the meetings (without being offensive) and still get away from this madness before it gets out of control.

"She is coming to your home as a guest, so you have the right to cancel the Bible Study..... "
PClark, I couldn't say this better.
I was a JW for more than 20 years when elders came to my house to check on me. I was polite with them allowing them to read a few scriptures to me but in the end I told them I needed time to reevalute things with myself and needed a break.
You don't have to be rude if you don't want to. However, YOU MAY HAVE TO BE FIRM AND CLEAR because JWs are a very persistent people.
Good luck!

Hey kingdavid,
calm down, my friend! First of all welcome to the forum.
Listen, you started your first post saying that people here are all gullible for believing what another newbie told about his experience in the assembly, and even suggested that he might be making this all up.
Now please, since you said you've been to the same assembly, please tell us what he might be making up, please please...
Remember, I don't want to hear your arguments on whether or not JW is the right religion etc. Forget about that, ok? Just stick to the facts and show how that newbie could be a liar, alright?
I'll be eargerly waiting for your reply. Thanks...
