No, when I went to my last meeting, I didn't know that was my last meeting. It has been about 5 years now.
Shortly after I went to that meeting, I used to like when I read things such as "I promised myself to never set foot at the KH again, and so I did it", etc.
However, I no longer think that saying things like the above, especially to family members, is a good approach. I believe I said something along those lines once, and I regretted it.
Being a JW is about outward appearances, loyalty and ideology. It is my experience that saying things like the above will make a JW family member even more resolute to prove that their ways are better and they're unaffected.
I now believe there are smarter and sneaky ways to show their ideology is wrong and a waste of time.

For those of you who don't go to meetings anymore...
by exwitless inwhen you attended your last meeting ever as a dub, did you know it was your last?
did something happen which made it clear in your mind you were 'never going back' (not to be confused with nvrgnbk)?.
the last meeting we went to was the memorial in 2006. we only went because we knew we were already pegged for the elders' unwanted attention, so we had to go to keep them off our backs a little longer.

My Letter to The Editor was Published.....
by AK - Jeff inagain it ran in the sunday edition - i hope that a few people might be 'forewarned' and thus 'forearmed' against the jw religion.
perhaps a jw or two will read it also- here was the letter:.
to the editor; on october 25 the british press was awash with the story of young emma gough from tellford, uk.

I agree. The letter was well written, to the point, having the potential of at least warn the public, if not making a Witness to think.
You make a point that is many times overlooked by JWs: The WT Society rules have caused many unnecessary deaths; but the WT religion IS changing, which shows its rules have nothing to do with God. So, this is bad, anyway you look at it. -

Thank you for the link.
I'm really grateful there are people out there taking the time to place subtitles in videos like those and sharing them with the world. Thank you! Whoever did it, thank you very much.
It is things like that that has the enormous potential to help those JW souls out there and those thinking of joining. They need to know the true face of this "religion".
Long live the information age.

I stole for the first time when I was 30 years old
But apparently you have been a liar for much longer.
I was just a PART TIME muslim
If you had been a FULL TIME muslim, I bet that JW pioneer would never be able to convert you.

Hello Gino. Hey, your post reads like the Bible in the original languages, that is, one has to put a lot of words in its "mouth" to try to make any sense of it.
So... just for fun, I am putting myself in the shoes of a translator, ok? Just an exercise in mind reading. Let's see how the translation comes out.
I am Gino Alen from Songkhla, Thailand. When I was born, I received a muslim stamp. I stole for the first time when I was 30 years old; I remember clearly. Shortly after that, a JW pioneer met me, and I started a Bible study when I was 30 years and 2 months old. What an interesting experience to share with you all! Every muslim believes in the Bible, but 99% has no Bible; they only speak about it. I think that prior to becoming a JW, I was just a PART TIME muslim. Now I have a very happy life, and am certain that worshiping Jehovah, who is the only Creator, is the right thing to do. I have the hope of everlasting life, and we have to stay close as the time gets near.
How did I do, Gino? Regardless, I hope this strenghs your faith in the Bible.
Take care.

The Screws are tightening! Fear is paramount for mind control to work!
by Gill ini have recently been noticing my mother's and other relatives' increased fervent and frantic activity in the wt society.. i wondered why they are becoming so fanatical and decided to take an indepth look at the latest watchtowers.. i believe there is a very worrying trend in the wt society now for a apocalyptic zeal that borders on fanaticism and now the wt is tightening the screws with its demand for 'cultic obedience.'.
in the past i wondered whether another 'jonestown,' or similar scenario, was possible, but though the wt may well not ask its members to take their own lives i wonder what the wtbts will ask them to do.. notice these quotes from the december 15th watchtower for 2007:.
page 18 paragraph 15:.

I think this call for obedience and 'we may not understand how certain organizational matters are handled" are a clear indication of new - and difficult to swallow - light coming. They're just doing the ground work.

WT in the business of selling cars????
by observador ini just received an email from a friend with pictures of what seems to be a wt-approved or wt-connected used car business.. this friend is telling us that the cars being sold are those previously used by circuit overseers.
he's giving us some links and pictures, but i haven't had the time to investigate, so i thought to put them up here for discussion.. the web address of the business is, quite appropriately, www.circuitleasing.com.
here are the documents made available by this acquaintance of mine:.

No, I am not from Grand Rapids.
I'm curious: why would you think the text of the letter is a fake. It contains regular JW language, and doesn't contain anything over the top, too damning to the WT.
It's a typical letter thanking someone for their interest in the business. Why don't you write to them and see if they would write you back? As I stated in the opening post, I am just sharing what I received.

New arrangement for field service?
by Zico ini don't know if this is a worldwide thing because i didn't go the meeting where the arrangement was announced, but it's being done in my congregation anyway.
during those 6 months the member assigned to the pioneer is meant to make time to work with the pioneer as much as possible, so they can strengthen each other.
the idea is meant to be that eventually each member of the congregation will get a go.

"Well thats what the elder told me, he said I had great potential"
Don't believe him; they say that to everyone. :)
Yep, have seen the program here in the US. As others have said, didn't work, for all the reasons mentioned.
Just would like to stress something: pioneers like to work with pioneers, because they have all types of tricks to make hours, which may be embarrassing to reveal to regular publishers. I have seen this personally and only then understood how pioneers are able to MAKE so many hours.

Here's something that doesn't make much sense to me:
He's talking about the possibility of people showing up in his place. Now, if he is a true con artist, he wouldn't divulge his real address, would he? Unless he's a super hyper dumb con artist.
Or am I missing something?
Mary, you're such a big sista. LMAO.

"This Generation" is No Big Deal
by metatron ini spoke with an older sister who attended the annual meeting and has connections at bethel.. i asked her about what the "generation" change was and she was almost dismissive about it, as if it.
barely mattered.
i asked if there was more ( 1935, 144.000 symbolic) and she replied that , no , she.

I didn't mention this latest possibility of change to anyone, but when I mentioned some time ago the 1995 changes to "this generation", the person I spoke to was still in line with the old doctrine, apparently unaware of the change.
So, I am not surprised with the reactions those JWs are showing.
