Patient Privacy Laws have gone in effect in USA

monday the patient privacy laws went into effect.

no information can be given out to anyone unless permission is granted from the patient.

our oldest son works at a hospital and it is immediate termination if it is found that anything is said about anyone who is receiving treatment at the hospital.. this should stop some elders who call local hospitals to see if any jws are there and then showing up at their room, uninvited.

It's been implemented for some time in Minnesota.

I've seen a co-worker fired for revealing info. I am strong advocate of confidentialty. Having experience my confidentialy violated in a Treatment center. I understand. Trust important when dealing with human lives and survivors of abuse.

I find it appalling Elders checking on others whether they use blood or not. Thats not okay.

since you've learned the truth about the "truth", do you feel emotionally, mentally and spiritually stronger?

Yes definitely feel stronger , emotionally, phyically and spiritually. I am still growing emotionally and spiritually.

And religion is'nt my way of life.

I value the freedom and rather protective. I experienced domestic abuse and I view the org. as domestic abuse only in a covert way. Controlling is the whole theme and using threats to keep in line. I see as using covert terorism. I was once blinded. Not no more!!!

Interesting I had a dream last night. In reality I am involved in a women's spiritualty circle for 11 years. In the dream one of members decided to bring religion into the group and change the format. I was pretty upset. I had to tell them I could'nt stay in the circle. I was devastated with the whole situation. I was going to be alone again in the world. But I knew my spirituality is strong . In time something would change.

Its interesting that I don't define me as a member of a particular sect. Which is freedom.

I guess lately I working on my internal self. Its the journey and not the destination. Pretty powerful!!

I appreciate these threads. Helps me put whatever in perspective. Thank you.

(wt march 1, 2003, study for april 13, 'be courageous and strong', para 3-4. you know, roaring lion, bla, bla, struggling christians, bla bla.

this got me to thinking.

at 13 worked Service Industry til 19 yrs. HS education.

Trained on the job Health Care Worker 7 yrs.

2Yrs of Community College part time. No degree.

In the org. 14 years. Self-employed Contract Cleaning business with ex-husb.

Machinist sheet metal shop 7 yrs. Trained on the job.

Vo-tech training health Care through the state for being a displaced worker.

ER Nursing Asst. 13 yrs

Patient Services ER - At present.

Taken many classes for my own personal growth.

Actually I am life long student.

Let's tone down the America / War topics and get back on track

suggestion: should we stop threads discussing america?.

i have decided that it may be better if we call a halt to the topics about america and the war in general.. there is more background info in that topic but the key points are:all these topics are distracting from the main purpose of the board.

I personally don't read politics and war threads. I have no desire to engage in them. I have my own personal feelings on these matters .

One thing I do know the press and media does'nt share the whole story and not knowing if we are getting the full truth. As my own personal experiences with the press and the media stretch the stories or add their own flavor. I work in level 1 trauma center ER. Hear or read its changed when taking care of people in disaster situations knowing what the truth is. So I take the media and press with a grain of salt. Whether its locally or world wide. So whats being reported is not always the gospel truth!

May be there are different forums to engage in politics discussion. I realize theirs the freedom of speech.

Is there specific guidelines on the forum what is discussed? Maybe the boundaries need to be re-established? Food for thought.

Maybe a special place on the forum for politics. I don't know.?

Beings we live in the land of the free. Maybe have people have the opportunity to vote on this matter. And everyone has the opportunity to voice their opinion! A thought!
