Velkommen Viktoria
Glad to meet you. I too have relatives in Denmark. I was brought up in Danish communities here in the United States. One is Askov, Minnesota and the other Solvang, California.
Yes there are many stories to share. Great place for support.

I support you with your committment with not smoking.
I smoked for 14 yrs. towards the end 3 packs a day. Did the cold turkey thing. Health issues. Scared the liver out of me.
I had lot of support from co-workers, friends and support groups. I had to change my behaviors. Lots rituals with smoking. The reality for me smoking is all connected in not wanting to get in touch of my feelings.
It was a mind blower for me because I had quit drinking. It waslike starting all over again with the smoking.
The tools I used was 12 step smoking group. The best thing I did. Was my saving grace. I chew gum. I probably paved the highway from here to New York with gum and back.
I am smoke free 6 yrs. every now then I get tested. When it comes to mind is usually not wanting to feel whats going on. A stick of gum is inserted into mouth.
So be gentle with yourself and one day a time. Sometimes minutes.

Another Df'ing/suicide...in memory of a dear friend...
by Ghost of Esmeralda inthings have calmed down again with my mother to the point where i found myself once again in her kitchen last night.
drinking too many cups of coffee as i always do at her house, i imagine if i were a smoker i'd have been lighting one cigarette after another instead.
it had been a pleasant enough evening, i sat there with my crocheting in my lap, something i always take with me to my mother's house so that if i get nervous or stressed out, my hands, and my mind, have something to do and somewhere to go.

Memorial Day
by oldcrowwoman into honor those who have gone on before us.
to find meaning in this day by thinking of those who have gone before us___both of those who have died without knowing that recovery was possible and those who paid dearly for the opportunities we have.. those who identified themselves as exjw's and struggled to tell their story may or may not be alive.
most certainly they are remembered, if they were ever known at all.. and to acknowledge others too who fought in war's for freedom.

Those who identified themselves as exjw's and struggled to tell their story may or may not be alive. Most certainly they are remembered, if they were ever known at all.
And to acknowledge others too who fought in war's for freedom. For years I honored those who have died from Alcoholism, drugs, domestic, phyical, sexual, emotional , spiritually and child abuse.
This year my way of giving back is deliverying SilentLambs flyers to all the kingdom halls in Minneapolis, St Paul. Some of the towns in Minnesota that I know have kingdom halls by mail. Hand deliver and a lamb to the hall that I was pushed out.
I look at this project of planting seeds. Who knows what the outcome will be.

To me this real crazy making. In the state of Minnesota we are having major, major cuts state, county and city level here in Minnesapolis and St. Paul. It does'nt make sense????To be getting a tax relief.
What was said on the media a persom making 500,000 will receive a $13, 000 tax relief. Than on the other end of the money chain $50.00!! I'm not impressed!!!!!
I work for a county hospital We have to trim 11 million dollars off our budget. They letting go of 190 full time employess. Some are asked a early retirement with $30,000 bonus. Clinics outside of the hospital are being closed. Social services, nutrition services, chaplaincy services, maintenance and the list goes on.
And the Federal government wants to give us a tax break?? There is something wrong with this picture?? It's all pretty dysfunctional!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the vent!!!

Ever been to a therapist?
by teejay insorry if the title came across as a "minimus question," but after posting to one of joelbear's threads, i thought of my experience with therapists.
all together, i've spent between 20 and 30 hours in counseling on two separate occassions and, i'm happy to say, both of the counselors and both of the experiences remain very good memories.
i found out early on that for them to do their job, you had to be bluntly honest so that's what i did.

Yes its the greatest investment I made for myself. Worth every penny. I've known her for 19 yrs. During some of those years I took breaks. I reconnected a couple yrs ago.
I admire her patience and fortitude. She had to pull teeth to get me to talk the first few years. I learned alot from her as well she from me. She 's had the education on the ways of the jw's.
When others who are seeking a therapist. I recommend to shop around. You are the one who is making the investment.
And to connect with various support groups. They are like life preservers!!
