  one of the cornerstones of jw's is counsel.

  they just love to give counsel and many times they will literally make things up just for the sake of counsel.

  i was once counselled for joking around too much.

  Let's see I was told to quit working at St. Mary's Hospital (Catholic) by the elders and my ex was for it thought I took better care of patients than him. Go figure?? Submissiveness settled in and I removed self from the hospital. What a martyr~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  How do we make a difference now?

  those of us raised as jw's were taught that "it does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step".

  we were repeatedly told that without god, humans were incompetent and doomed to fail at any endeavour.. i personally believe that this teaching, that we as individuals do not make a difference, is possibly the largest doctrinal harm done to jw's, and one of the toughest to overcome.. so, for those of you who were raised in the wts and left, what do you choose to do now to make a difference in the world?

  why did you pick that avenue - or why do you think you've waited up till now?.

  Volunteer the phone line for Women For Sobriety program in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area. A sobriety program thats congruent to AA.

  Shared my story with various treatment centers, half-way houses and women in transitional housing.

  Participated in the SilentLambs March in Brooklyn. I support SilentLambs with distribution flyers regarding abuse.

  Participated in the Aids Walk. Take Back The Night March for survivors of sexual abuse and rape. March goes thru downtown of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

  Video project Healing from Rape. The project is used in batter women centers and rape center's across the USA.

  I am a spiritual artist share with those who are in need of healing or to honor themselves.Very nuturing for me and to help in ways to aid in their healing process.

  In ER where I work we take on 5 families who are in need over the holidays. And also with the food drive.

  So thats it in a nut shell.

  You are heading in the right direction checking all this out for yourself. Give yourself a pat on the back for reaching out and to see what fits for you.

  I've been sober close to 20 yrs. I am involved with "Women for Sobriety". This sobriety program has been in existence since 1975. Deals with women's self-esteem and self-worth. Very positive program.

  Some women use both AA and WFS. WFS program is congruent to AA.

  I went through treatment for alcoholism. It was the time I just gotten out of the org. I was not in place to be involve with AA. Try to deprogram a program in order for me to fit. I had no energy. My therapist recommend WFS. I was grateful that there were other options.

  I support you in taking care of yourself.

  i am interested to know whether jw's or ex jw's on this board really did believe 100%.

  did you have doubts all of the time, did you have some confusion or did you never doubt at all?

  i recognise that most on this board will have had doubts at the end but was this always the case when you were a good dub?

  Yes I had doubts and totally not bought into it all. I did sell myself to being submissive wife.

  Of course that submissiveness fit right into Dometic violence. Actually I was groomed into it coming from a dysfunctional family.

  I bought into the fact that god's people cared and nuture one another. I took the risk in seeking help with the abusive situation. Like Frannie says " A steaming cow pie".. The JC turned the table on me. I was blown away by the betrayal and feeling abandon. No trust!! It is the worst feeling to emotionally have the chair pulled right under you and as if someone knocked the wind out of you.

  I knew than this is not a loving org.

  hello to everyone of you on this forum.

  i am new here...have been reading this site since january of this year.

  i have been raised in the truth and published for 36 years...(yes, i have been very timid about posting...because i am new and because i feel i must have something of value to contribute).. since feb. i have seriously been reconsidering this org.
