have you ever seen the 'signs of the times' magazine published by the seventh day adventists?
i saw one at my local take-out recently for the first time and had a quick flick through.
i thought it was rather better the awake and/or watchtower!
I was rather amazed to learn that the Seventh Day Adventists have been publishing it since 1874!

Great! The Adventists had a five year head start on WT publishing utter nonsense. So happy for them.

i recently posted a post telling this board my athesit coworker stumped me with questions about the validity of the ark story and i just cannot stop talking to her.
i love hearing her side and point of view which in the past i would have dismissed as "satanic" thinking.
she has some very good questions and i am having a hard time answering them.
When I first started questioning WT, then the Bible, I discovered a video series on Youtube called, "The Atheist Experience". I was absolutely fascinated not only by their logic and sound reasoning, but mostly by how quickly and easily the atheists shredded the simple-minded arguments and beliefs of Christians.
I also realized that despite being a JW my entire life, I also had nagging doubts about the Bible I never had the freedom to entertain as a JW, but the atheists decimated those very same doubts with their reasoning.
In the end, while you may not come around to the other person's view, it is enlightening to learn why people believe what they do.
well, of course nothing else would be expected, but it passes me off.. for example, they show this short video that shows a child dying, shows her father crying as he visits her grave...and then she is reunited with her family in "the new system" and then it shows a handicapped girl who is sad she can't ice skate with friends...fast forward to tns, she can skate!!!
then an elderly couple is shown happily young again.... .
and of course the end is "so close!

i just watched it on netflix, and i highly recommend it!
it's a recent documentary that premiered at the sundance film festival last year.. it shows how the american evangelical right wing christian groups has changed the face of uganda by sending missionaries there, setting up churches, and indoctrinating ugandans with their brand of christianity.
