ok, is this a "new understanding" or what?

up until this point i thought that the borg refered paul as a co or do, but never gb member:.

p. 12 now, why would paul a spiritual giant who likely was a member of the first-century governing bodycall himself a miserable man?.

@ minimus: OK, he was a DO but then was invited to serve as a Governing Body member. And he was never on the Writing Dept. but he was on the Teaching Commitee.

we were taught for 100 years that the end or armageddon is imminent, as if it is coming in a hurry.

but look now at the new way of sharing god's kingdom in uk which i find as a complete irony.

The real reason for JW.Org:

JWs are so ill-equipped to answer any Bible questions or defend their own beliefs (because they don't actually know what their beliefs are and how they arrived at such beliefs), it's better to just send people to a website. Plus, WT controls what information is available to any potential victims converts. Too risky to have a JW do the 'splaining.

If the end is imminent, why:

> Cut the magazine issues in half?

> Cut the issues printed in half?

> Eliminate district overseers?

> Reduce Pioneer hour requirements?

> Cut the number of assembly days down?

> Build a GB and other higher up mucky mucks a nice retirment compound in Warwick ( a four year project)?

> sell all of the Brooklyn real estate?

> sell 14 Branch offices?

> pilfer congregations for more money?

> direct people to get their life-saving "truth" from a crappy website rather than just talk to them?

> continue to build the WT empire rather than going all-out in a final preaching effort using tv, radio and newspaper advertising like Harold Camping did?

Paul also took his next missionary assignments from the local congregation without consulting any alleged 1.0 "governing body". I guess that made Paul a maverick GB member who didn't like consulting with the other members...and no one could do a damn thing about it.

so talking with my wife last night...i was explaining to her about a conversation i had with a person at work about end times.

he has a strange belief that some scriptures in isaiah perdict something huge is going to happen in september of 2015. she then states that no one can predict the future only the father knows and he is in a cult.

lol on the inside.. i then stated "what about 1914 and the dubs perdiction and what it means today" she said no there was never any predictions.

We see no reason for changing the figures--nor could we change them if we would. They are, we believe, God's dates, not ours. But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the date for the beginning, but for the end of the time of trouble.

Surely there is not the slightest room for doubt in the mind of a truly consecrated child of God that the Lord Jesus is present and has been since 1874.

On pages 138-139 (Proclaimers book), the March 1, 1925 Watch Tower's feature article is quoted:

A real milestone was reached, therefore, in 1925, when The Watch Tower of March 1 featured the article "Birth of the Nation." It presented an eye-opening study of Revelation chapter 12. The article set forth evidence that the Messianic Kingdom had been born--established--in 1914, that Christ had then begun to rule on his heavenly throne, and that thereafter Satan had been hurled from heaven down to the vicinity of the earth. This was the good news that was to be proclaimed, the news that God's Kingdom was already in operation. How this enlightened understanding stimulated these Kingdom proclaimers to preach to the ends of the earth!"

So according to Jehovah's Witnesses own documentary, the 1914 Advent was not their teaching until the year 1925, eleven years after 1914

Considering what WT clearly said above (i.e. 1874 = Christ's return), the following statements are nothing more than outright lies:

Why, then, do the nations not realize and accept the approach of this climax of judgment? It is because they have not heeded the world-wide advertising of Christ's return and his second presence. Since long before World War I Jehovah's witnesses pointed to 1914 as the time for this great event to occur.

After the 1914 predictions all failed, WT said:

"The Watchtower has consistently presented evidence to honesthearted students of Bible prophecy that Jesus’ presence in heavenly Kingdom power began in 1914." Watchtower 1993 January 15 p.5

"Jehovah's witnesses pointed to the year 1914, decades in advance, as marking the start of "the conclusion of the system of things." Awake! 1973 January 22 p.8

WT even went so far as to go back and change their own publications to hide what it said earlier:

The 1908 edition of Studies in the Scriptures Series III - Thy Kingdom Come stated on p.228 that the resurrection would occur before 1914. The 1915 edition changed this to state that the resurrection was to occur soon after 1914.

is there any evidence that even the bible isn't just another big religion/government scam?

would we listen to putin or obama if they told us they have verified new holy writings?

One of my first big wake ups three years ago was regarding 1914. As a JW, we are taught that CT Russell 'discovered' this timeline and therefore proves he had god's exclusive direction. God revealed to him alone that 1914 was a "marked" date. What a shock to learn it was created by, not CT Russell, but JA Brown and promoted by the Adventists long before Russell ever heard of it! A further shock is that this is even acknowledged in the Proclaimers book, but I never cared enough to pay attention to it. I doubt very many JWs have actually even read the Proclaimers book, which incidentally, is one of the most revealing and self-damning publications WT has ever produced.

My next thought was: If I didn't know this one important fact as a fourth generation JW (and BTW, I was a good JW- very studious, very "faithful" and I could explain the 607-1914 timeline backwards and forwards) what else didn't I know about my religion? This led to an avalanche of facts and evidence that obliterated my religion in the span of a few short weeks. The next big shock was that, not 1914, but 1799 was the beginning of the Last Days and 1874 was the year of Christ's invisible return. 1914 would usher in Armageddon, it was not the beginning of the last days as WT now teaches.

In short, I realized I was lied to my entire life and my religion was a sham based on false prophecies and idiocy....
