I'm going to do some research on how women were treated in the Bible.
.
No need to read the Bible...just look at Islam. They really are a throwback to a 3,000 year old mindset and have much in common with Jehovah's™ methodology.
if gods kingdom is anything like the laws of leviticus and other books, it will be tough on women and children.
a man gets into a fight with another man and his wife impulsively grabs the offenders testies.
her hands are cut off.

being my 1st post i figured i should relate a personal experience.
a few months ago i decided to stop reporting time.
i'm mentally out of this cult now but still trapped because of family.
What is truly ironic is that these elders grilled you for 28 minutes and stressed repeatedly that, 1) we cannot think for ourselves, 2) we must listen to and obey whatever the Governing Body tells us to do.
Then the elder says he "doesn't care if JWs look at porn, it's natural, we were made to procreate". Really? That's NOT what the GB says !!!
This is the hypocrisy of JWs, especially elders. While claiming to be fully loyal to the GB, when it comes to issues they personally are not in agreement with, they have no problem defying the GB.
Personally, at the point, I would've told the elder, "obviously you disagree with the GB on the issue of porn, and I disagree with them on the issue of reporting field service time. So, I guess we're both doing our own thinking, aren't we?"

Welcome to the rest of you life. Stay with your new journey.

@ Vidiot...are you suggesting that the live-forever-on-a-paradise-earth pitch just might sound like it's "too good to be true"??!!!
Lord Shirl sayeth: No, it's as believable as "I have some oceanfront property in South Dakota I want to sell you".
.
@ James Brown: But the best I can see they are all kindergarden.
That's what I was hoping you'd say

it was a WT-type promise, therefore non-binding and completely useless. I thought you knew?
do you make use of the head-sweating apparatus?revised reprint from the witchtower, july 2010. .
in a family and in a house where it is available and used, this little all-purpose device surely will obviate the need for a doctor many times.

I'm pretty sure Jesus used one of these all the time

to JB....out of sheer morbid curiosity, maybe you can list for us which religion is:
grade school?
junior high?
high school?
college?
just to point out that there is no difference between those who are in an organization or church and those who are not.
it rains on us all.
the mistake some make is to think some people are more righteous than others.
The fact is God makes no distinction between people whover we are
.
Really? Have you read the Old Testament?
Even the NT demonstrates clearly that god either approves or disapproves of a person based on their religious beliefs. Armageddon anyone?
Now before you launch off to where I know you'll next go, namely that events in the OT cannot be attributed to god, and that Armageddon is not a genuine Biblical concept, keep in mind that if you reject those two concepts then you must also reject the concept that god is impartial- because it's all in the same book.
Reject one and, by default, you must reject the other.

Regardless of whether a person believes in the Bible or not, just read the record as it is written: has any religion or system god allegedly instituted ever worked?
Whatever system (formal or not) god set up was hopelessly flawed and corrupt from its inception, and slowly (sometimes quickly) circled to a death spiral. Even if (and it's a humongous if) WT was god's chosen religion, really- does it run any differently from any other system he's built???

I agree with Oubliette's correct, but long-winded, answer

Give it time to prove itself...WT has only been around for 133 years.
(6,000+ years if you count Abel as the first Jehovah's Witness). LOL.

Good for him for flouting the WT and yet remaining in their good graces!
.
I agree. Any JW who actually makes it in life is to be applauded.
The irony is, of course, that if he was a successful, highly educated architect and civically-minded JW who is not an elder and is not promoting WT interests (i.e. selfishly persuing his own dreams sans WT), he would most assuredly be labelled as "weak", "materialistic", "worldly", "selfish" and "not seeking the Kingdom first" by the very same WT minions that are praising him. And the rank-and-file would be warned that he is not an example to be emulated.
.
As the scholar and gentleman Vidiot so aptly observed, "They've taken "double standards" to an art form, that's for sure."
Amen, brother. Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.
