My mom called to tell me that my cousin made MS and how happy everyone is. We got to talking about how the elders think they are led by holy spirit and crap like that. It damn near killed me not to say anything but my cousin is a double lifer. He pretends to be a good witness but he is anything but. He looks down at apostates but as long as you are not one that is okay. He had an affair with a married woman at his work. I have seen him smoke, gamble and he even slept with a stripper on a visit here. If only they knew. Like the title of my post holy spirit my ass. If he ever gets busted I am going to bring up our prior conversation about holy spirit and how he was appointed while he was doing all his sleeping around. I called him on the phone and congratulated him on a snow job well done. We have a love/hate relationship. Never have really gotten along but he has been there for me through some tough times. I could not help from laughing when I told him mom thought he had been appointed by holy spirit. All I got was silence from him. I was like and you still don't believe the witness beliefs are crap? He just said he knew he was in the right religion and told me I had no right to judge him because I was soon to be an unwed mother. I told him I was not judging him persay just his religion and asking how he could still believe it. I asked him if he was going to change his wicked ways now that he was working his way up the corporate ladder and he told me to mind my own damn business. I am still laughing my ass off that he got appointed a MS.

Womens Right`s are they Wrong?
by dido inwomen today fight for `women`s right`s` but are they doing women any favours?
as far as i can see, they have just made it harder for them.
now they are expected to have the kids, work full time, clean house, cook, babysit, taxi drive, nurse, etc., i think they have done us a disservice, by trying to be `equal` to men in the workplace.

I can only speak for myself and my situation. I have been given a lot of flac by some people in my life for not marrying my sons father and not wanting to be a stay at home mom. I have been called selfish and crazy. The people who have given me this "well meaning" advice have not considered the long term consequences for me. I would be 100% dependent on 1 person. I have no intention of marrying him so what if we broke up 10 years from now? Where would I be then? Having to start at the bottom of the career ladder. No thank you. I will pass. I am so greatful for the women who came before me and fought for womens rights. If my man and I broke up tomorrow I would be able to stand on my own 2 feet. It makes me feel really secure knowing if he decided not to pay me 1 penny in child support my son and I would be just fine without it.

That was funny. I wonder what his background is with the JW's. Below is a funny one as well. You can tell there not really dubs at the door but funny none the less.

a friend of mine attended this witness for jesus convention last year or the year before i think for one day while she was going through her christian phase. she heard a lot of testimonies and she said overall it was a very positive experience. her husband did not like it at all and pretty much said what RR did. she said it was nothing like a jw convention and he said it reminded him of one. i guess the only way to know for sure is to check it out for yourself.

Can Non-JW Spouses Receive JW Funeral/Memorial Service?
by SusanHere inmy jw sister's husband is dying of cancer.
he's never been a jw, though he has pretended interest for years, mostly just to keep her happy and hopeful.
i don't believe he ever intended more than that.

A brother might give a talk but I don't see it being held at the KH.

question for Atheists with children?
by unbeliever inwhat do you tell your children about god or his lack of existance?
i know i have a long time before i have to deal with this but my jw mom did ask me what i will teach my son about god.
i have no plans to tell him god is real.

From an atheist's point of view, I don't understand the desire to let kids "make up their own minds" when it comes to religion. Would we let them make up their own minds about what is right and wrong?
Jstalin,
You are making this issue out to be black and white. I don't believe a god exists but I am still not sure its my place to tell him that. I don't want to force my beliefs on him and tell him this is how it is end of story. Its so much more complex than that.

Hi lonelysheep,
I have been thinking if its a good idea to come out and say god is fake. Is it really my place? I would rather him come to that conclusion on his own. I can tell him what I personally believe and hope that in the end he rejects christianity. I also want to tell him to beware of preachers and priests. I don't want him to be worried about his soul going to hell or dying at Armageddon. I want him to think logically. I will be his guide and I want to do it the right way. Like you said we have the right to believe or not believe. I don't know why I am even worrying about this. Thanks.
