if a dub needed your help as in a medical emergency or in getting employment/job contract or in getting your support in a dispute with someone on a non religious issue or in some other way such as in a car break down would you help them?

I would probably help someone in an emergency if I could, with some exceptions. I remember some that I wouldn't budge to save their lives.
As far as work goes, I don't think I would ever help a dubbie. I don't think one would ever help me. I would not want to work with someone whose hope for eternal life depended on their "not even sharing a meal" with me.

what i don't understand is - if "jehovah" can surely preserve the bible down through the ages, then he certainly could have made sure his name was still there also.. it is also pretty clear that the divine name did not appear in the greek scriptures.. could it be possible that god let his name disappear on purpose so that when jesus came along there wouldn't be any confusion?.

It seemed like a pretty reasonable deduction. God would not have left his name out by accident. If the whole bible is so accurate, then it couldn't have been ommitted by man either.

Of course you could get some newbie that really believes the truth sets one free. That person may actually explain it as he knows it.

Like Netty, I never got a question at the doors. Sure I had my 'Reasoning book' ready, usually.
But I think most people fall into one of two categories:
1. Don't care what dubbies have to tell them about god and religion
2. Feel sorry that dubbies are so unreachable by even the simplest logic.

I fully expect that I am helping Dangel, whether he realizes it or not. He needs to not feel guilty about his disatisfaction. He also needs to understand that it may need to take actions himself - for himself. Just like you expect women to do. And to be honest, I kinda suck at the 'tact' thing.
my oldest son is left handed.
everytime he does anything different from the rest of us.....my husband relates this to being left handed.. he is very artistic, detailed, and extremely particular about how he wants things in his little world to be.. this may be because he's 5 - who knows.. are there any traits of left handed people that you lefties may want to share so i can be prepared in the future?.

Lefties often notice each other in a group as they try to sit down to eat. There are only two corners at the table that we move to.
My mother is a leftie, with beautiful handwriting. In fact, she can write in both directions with either hand. But she never taught me to write, and I have miserable handwriting.

if your wife was smart, she would have broken things off when you told her you'd leave her if she gained weight. You don't love her. You love her appearance. You'll probably trade her in for a younger model when she starts to show her age.

Lets see, my wife is smart, and we have a relationship whereby we let each other know our expectations of each other. That is quite a case of black-and-white vision you got there to infer that I don't love her. Getting older is not the same as 'letting go.' Everyone gets older, not everyone takes care of themselves.

I never had to bring it up again. But let me tell you this, she is not skinny. I'm not looking for skinny.
Some of the comments you made were pretty insensitive. Over weight people tend to be very good at beating themselves upAgreed. And if that initial post had been from a fat woman asking weight loss advice or somesuch, I probably would have avoided it. But the post was from a beseiged husband asking advice. I fully intended to put balance to the 'make her problems your problems' advice.

Somebody said staying in shape for women is equal to being gainfully employed for men. So, that's like saying the only value a woman has is looking good for her man.
No, that is not saying the only value is her looks - I have not said that. But it is not insignificant. We are talking about letting oneself go.
But your statement says something interesting. Are you saying that a man's gainful employment is his only value? It seems to me like you are.
So I ask you, what would you do to a husband who came home, and decided to stop working? Days of TV and bass fishing are what he wants. Of course he is still the same person. How long before he found his stuff in the driveway?
