well he didn't go but i did .. and they were waiting for us... i was very nice , but direct and i gave them no quarter.. so i start off well you got the question already where is your proof.... i pull out a wt quote , so what does the record show????
lets go over it... i came in with a shopping bag full of wt's books and bibles etc... they start panicing with what's in the bag...lol so they try to say it's a progressive study and he wants to go into the new knowledge book ... i pull one out of the bag.
If there was one situation where I would like to be a fly on the wall, it is where Johnny flies into the frey with the cocksure elders on doctrinal issues. I'll say it again: I love your passion man.

have any of you noticed, especially those that have never been witnesses that jw's seem taken back or even weary of you for some reason if you know their lingo?
it has happened to me several times in conversations.
some were pleasent, others not so much, but either wat the witness i was talking to always reacted in utter shock and almost suspicion of me when i knew their terminology.
My daughter has a close friend that is a dub - poor child, all she wants is to be a normal teenager. My daughter and her other friends try to help, but her older brother is soooo into it, that he tells their parents when the girl spends time away from school with worldy friends.
Anyway, the girl was over our house, and apparently my daughter didn't think to tell her that our house had a resident apostate - didn't occur to her. I had no intention of trying to deprogram, especially since she was out of the house when her parents were away and just trying to be a teenager. But she sure didn't want to get into any discussion - she seemd uncomfortable at the slightest mention of my ex-dubbieness.
back when i was attending kingdom halls in our circuit i noticed a lot of 'drop dead gorgeous' women married to the geekiest looking guys.
i always asked myself how these 'dorks' did it!.
was this because selection was limited or was this just a peculiarity in our area?
Absolut fact.
But it is something more than just the realtive quantities of boys and girls. For some strange reason, an inordinately high percentage of girls in the org are gorgeous. My congregation had a couple that were the best-looking girls in their high schools - or close to it. I had varying degrees of relationships with girls that wouldn't so much as known my name if I weren't a dubbie. And their mothers!?! Are you kidding? One in our hall was a USC homecoming queen (maybe princess - memory is fading), at least a couple others had done modelling in their youth. Other halls in the area had the same story - maybe not quite as extreme as mine.
My neighbor across the street in an x-dub (our sons are best friends), she can make a man cry. One of my daughter's best friends is a dub - beautiful girl. The pictures from the Portland meetup did not do justice - that meeting was quite a reminder of the lookers found at the hall - and I mean this respectfully.
Again, it is more than just the numbers of them. Does anyone else agree? Or have some idea to explain?
question for all of you that have read both of ray's books, how much redundancy (for lack of a better word) is there?
can it be said that they are two separate and equally valuable books or does isocf just add to c of c?
how would you describe the theme of both, or possibly contrast them?.
After I read CofC, I wondered just how much he could have to say to another book of 700 pages (I'm not gonna get up to verify). But I found ISOCF to be almost completely new information. Read 'em both.
i gave my best friend crisis of conscience two weeks ago and she said she probably won't read it.
i hardly have had any contact over the past month because i was fired from where we work.
with every day that passes i worry more and more.

i am 35 years old and my mother has been a jw for the last 4 years.
i was raised as a catholic by my mother and now it is hard to understand her new religion.
i have 3 older sisters we all live several miles away from eachother so it is hard to get together at times.

You're gonna get some responses all right. Sadly to say, they are not likely to paint a very rosy picture of where you are. You are just starting to see, and there is much worse to come.
You need to get your mind around the fact that she may someday fall in line with some of the more extremem JW's and consider you Bad Association. You and the other non-minor children may someday become personae-non-grata in her eyes. She may not only skip the holidays, but all other non-emergency contact with you, your siblings, and all your spouses and children. Now not all JWs go that far - but it isn't rare either.
Tell ya something else: There may come a time when you and your siblings will be reluctant to leave your children with her, lest she spend every waking moment trying to inculcate them into the fold.
It just gets worse. Please stick around and look for some advice that may help.

Simon, it was nice. I talked a lot about it with my wife afterwards. I didn't get a chnace to speak with everyone. But I was struck by the variety of experiences in the ones I did spend time with. I'm looking forward to the next one.
