Duh? Was that actually said from the platform at the DC? Christendom is all about the resurrection hope based on the Ransom. It is JWs who minimize the ransom and underplay Jesus' role in their eternal hopes.

DC quote: "most people in Christendom"
by under_believer in"most people in christendom know that jesus died, but they don't connect the dots... that if we die, the resurrection hope is based on the ransom.".
well done, captain strawman.
anyone who accepts that has never had a conversation with even a moderately informed mainstream christian.

A scary day in FS today
by InChristAlone intoday, the jw who normally comes and his son visited my house.
we were talking on the doorstep for about ten or fifteen minutes when the son began to to faint.
i saw it coming, but i couldn't reach him before he fell backwards, hitting his head on the brick landscaping border.

Yikes. So sorry to hear that happened. Same thing happened to me once as a kid of 11 or 12 out in service on a hot summer day. The adult brother was making a return call and they were talking for several minutes. I was standing there all proper with tie and short sleeved shirt. I began to sweat and to feel dizzy even though it was not terribly hot. I tried to steady myself and to pay attention to what was being said. No use. The car was close by, so I was able to walk back a few steps and lean back on the car or I would surely have fallen. I leaned back on the car all wobbly kneed until we could get back in the car.
Field service is not for kids.

Congratulations to you both. I know that freedom experience that you mention.
Maybe the will be a true turning point with your family once they realize that you and your hubby are nearly as crazed demon possesed as the WT scares people into to believing. You have a chance to mildly shake their foundations a bit. And umm...maybe your husband can forego geeting himself DFd. I did. I really don't care about the status, only that family still in will still tolerate me. That counts for something.

desperate or stupid - you decide
by finally awake injust ron has received a couple of phone calls in the last few days from the rbc brother wanting him to come roof a kingdom hall.
now, just ron hasn't been to a meeting since december 2011, and certainly hasn't got a current volunteer form on file.
so i ask, are they desperate or just stupid?.

You must be approved by your local body of elders to the RBC to work on RBC projects. As soon as I stepped down a letter was sent to our RBC so that I was taken off the RBC mailing list.
I smell a setup or the brother asking is not in the know.

Accused of thinking too much
by biometrics ini've been officially accused of "thinking too much".. i've tried to quit thinking, but i'm hoplessly addicted to it.i just can't seem to turn my brain off.. at times duing my school years i was accused of not thinking enough.
now i'm guilty of thinking too much!.
the brother even went on to say "could you imagine what the witness organisation if everyone was thinking independently like you do"?

Ditto here. And told that I need to stop using worldly sources of information and reminded that worldly sources are under the control of Satan the Devil. This to me for using The World Book Encyclopedia.

I can image that it is hard sometimes. But your wife, son, 8 year old daughter, fil, mil, sil and bil are all at the meeting listening to mind-numbing drivel. At least one of them has an inkling that this is a farce but doesn't know what to do about it.

I second all the comments about being a loving supportive dad to all the kids. Love really does win out in the long run. You can mildly say why you don't do the WT stuff when it comes up, but don't you be the bad guy.
This is a scriptural tactic from Proverbs 25 called heaping fiery coals on the heads of your enemies by being kind to them...21 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
By the way, your son absolutely hates going in field service, despite anything he says to the contrary. Be a good guy, a good dad. He will want to be like you and NOT be a JW.

Nothing too outrageous that I recall. You decide.
An older brother and I called on a woman that he and his family knew. She was older too, laying in bed in fact. She told me to come closer so that she could get a better look at me. Then she said that she had leg cramps and sure needed someone to massage her cramps. I told her it was best that I not do that. She asked if I would be so kind as to fill her hot water bottle with warm water. I filled it from her bathroom sink and brought it to her. She revealed her leg and showed me where to place it (a PG-13 or R rated area). I held the water bottle out to her hand. She grabbed my hand and used my hand to place the water bottle where she wanted it.
Then there was the woman in her housecoat on a Saturday morning. We DID get people at the door early for the the weekends. Anyway, as I was showing her the magazine article her boob popped out.
I had driven down a dirt lane to call on a house at the end. There was a huge mud puddle, so I parked to the side of the puddle and walked the rest of the way to the house with another publisher. The woman was in the yard and quite friendly. Her son, a grown man that I knew, came tearing out of the house waving his arms telling us to get out there, that they didn't believe in that JW *&^% and to get moving. As he was yelling, I noticed a grove of marijuana plants growing in a garden area just behind the house. When we had walked back to the car and were getting back in the car, the man came tearing down the path with his truck and plowed full force through the mud puddle to make sure my car was totally splattered.
I used to call on a man who had schizophrenia. He rather liked me and would recount stories of how angels appeared to him and spoke about me while he was in the post office.
One time a woman came to the door and said that she was on the phone but that I could sit on her porch until she was finished with her phone call. I sat there for a very long time. LOL.
It all happened in NC.

Tech 49: My Tripping Point, part 1
by Tech49 ini have previously told a little about myself, and thought i would share a bit more.
my tripping point.
the point when you awaken from a dream.

Tech49, I really feel it with you bro. Similar for me. The graduation year was 1975. My guidance counselor had asked where I planned to go to college. I said that I wasn't going to college, that I was going to work parttime in a grocery store and become more involved with the ministry in my church. She looked with a blank stare.
Fast forward, 25 years later I enrolled in a community college to pursue what I was good at too. I shake my head at a lot of wasted years. But it's never too late. Ten years later I am doing something that I really love. The degree DOES matter. Dang WT dream robbers.
