I am sure you know this already, that "Jehovah" is a hybrid name that was never used in ancient Israel. And, calling God's name was out of practice and out of writing long before Jesus appeared. Jesus didn't read YHWH when he read from the ancient scrolls, and as you have already pointed out, he never made the name-calling an issue or a point of instruction to his listeners.
And, if anyone today is to be called Witnesses, maybe Acts 1:6-8 has some bearing on ???? Witnesses.

I say yes. I prophecy (turned prophet just today) several mini-mass exoduses. Then quiet again with far less active membership. And far less funds and far less life in the Org. The end is just around the corner. We are in the last part of the last days. :))

what would have to happen to prove that the watchtower is probably "packing it up", conceding the field, retiring to their new headquarters in senescent peace?.
the dramatic changes we have observed are mostly motivated by money or legal concerns - but not all, as with cutting back on meetings.. you could reasonably have an old guard that still fanatically hopes for armageddon, any day now, while younger men keep their doubts private.
All good comments here about the WT having to change its model, selling property and doing all things to keep the money flowing...but...
What if the donations dry up? What if the donation arrangement is a flop? Like Sears, Montgomery Wards, KMart, Pontiac, and American Motors. What then?
when the co visits a cognregation this semester, a special meeting with elders and mss is sceduled tuesday night, right after the normal meeting.
does anyone know what this meeting is about?
this special meeting is held at the beginning of the co-week, and is different from the standard meeting with personnel which is held friday evening.
I have to go with that the CO wants all the servants to show up for the midweek meetings for field service even if they can't go out. Just come to show support, it is said. Why does the CO want this?
It is a numbers game. He will count the publishers that show up for each fs meeting and report that to the Society. It will be awesome! 25 showed up for the Wednesday morning fs meeting, 15 attended the Thursday after lunch meeting. Awesome! Get it? I remember COs that counted out loud so that everyone was in awe.

Which I predict will leave most elders wondering, "what do they want us to do?"

Regret would be developing friendships only among other JWs and not allowing non-JWs to get close enough to be considered a friend. Thus, marrying from the limited pool of JWs.
Missed opportunities. Not getting an education. Believing that the Watchtower and Awake! provided a well-rounded education equivalent to a college degree.

this will be our second scheduled session together, and we never did agree on a topic.. i'm assuming she will come with an agenda and another prepared presentation.
I have enjoyed reading this immensely. The rudeness and smug arrogance of Witnesses is so annoying. (You're in kindergarten and they are not.)
Anyway, it seems that they leave unanswered questions at each visit. I suggest that for the next vist you be prepared to hammer them on the question they did not answer this time....what was required in the Bible in order to be baptized?
The book of Acts will give you several verses to take them to so show that whole crowds were baptized immediately upon accepting the message of Jesus. What do JWs require beyond a confession of belief in Jesus? What verses show that something more is required before baptism. And have your pen and pad ready to take down the verses. The pen and pad are POWERFUL. Show them that you are serious about being given the verses for anything they say. Pen on pad to take it down. :)
