just read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.
congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

Didn´t the first christians meet in private homes! Or they used wathever they could find to get a roof over their heads.
I´d like to qoute TTATTelder: Its totally a franchise/rental-landlord hybrid business model being rolled out progressively.

when i first began studying in order to "make the truth my own", there were a set of scriptures that perplexed me and motivated me to dig deeper.. the scriptures are regarding the resurrection of the inhabitants of sodom & gomorrah.. see jesus words here - matthew 10:15 - "truly i say to you, it will be more endurable for the land of sodom and gomorrah on judgment day than for that city.
" (ezekiel 16:48 / matthew 11:23 / matthew 11:24 / luke 10:12 ).
any time that i brought these scriptures up to jw friends and family they would reply like this "jesus was speaking in hyperbole.. that is why he said it would be more endurable".. i would clarify and show them that it says "will be".

I am sorry to say you have been captured in a mind trap loop. And can´t get out!
You say quote:
I have not personally fully developed my belief on The Ransom & Salvation.. While i do have a fair understanding of the principles of it, I can't say that I understand it perfectly.
And fact is that you never will.
Think for you yourselves. use your own intelligence!.
Ransom? How can an eternal almighty god have to pay a “ransom” to one of his creature (satan)? This by letting his own first borne son sacrificing his life?
Nothing of this makes sense. It is only old antique philosophical idea. No father would ever let other kill his own son as a sacrifice for un imperfect humanity..
Start to think by yourselves, do not let WTBCT literature influence you, nor the Bible

as jws we were often told what the theme of the bible is, we were taught that it was the promised seed.. i was recently asked the question.... what is the main "idea" of the bible?.
for me the whole purpose of the bible is about control.
it features a god that punishes and rewards.
Phizzy!
You say quote: It is interesting to study the books in this way, we have very little else that has survived from most of the times that the books were written in.
I don’t agree with that. Although the library in Alexandria has been burnt a couple of times (in war), we still have a large amount of papyrus scriptures from the old Greeks, and much above that newly found clayplates/cyliders scrolls, that are much much older than our present bible transcriptions. So for instance we can read Assurbanibals Library, in ORIGINAL – not transcriptions. And translated transcriptions of transcriptions a.s.f.
The thing is that bible textures has been sorted and selected, translated, by many evil men (Athanastasius for instance), The clay plates are still intact and in original. We can translate them and order them in a timeframe, that is far more old then the Bible.
But the texts on these clay plates, its very similar to the thoughts you will find in the Bible. You will find stories about the great kings that reined in that or that time, which good he preferred to warship, the flood that god punished us with.
So the obvious conclusions for those who have been interested in the Bible is that the Bible is not more wholly then for instance Homeros the Illiade and Odysse, or Assurbanibals Library.
It is just more a coincidence that just these letters where taken very serious and keep by antique old mind trapped men as “the word of god”. This is also why the bible contains so many contradictions. Take a look att evilbible.com for instance

i read an interesting book - "spymaster" by tennent bagley in which he offers a biography of a senior consultant to the kgb, based on long interviews with a man who was once his enemy (sergey kundrashev).
i believe the book proves some powerful insights into the workings of secretive totalitarian cults.. there are many parallels between the two organizations: they were both born out of 1914 events, they addressed each other as comrade/brother, they encouraged youth to become "pioneers/red pioneers", they were started as very individualistic (revolutionaries) -were then taken over and structured by an amoral thug-dictator (stalin/rutherford) , worshipped the "party/organization", emphasized collective thought over the individual, and ended up ruled by an elderly politboro/governing body - who were forced to contend with disruptive change.. .
but here's where the similarities get interesting:.
Metadron
Very interesting thoughts. The parallels are obvious. First Idealism, then Power, greed, corruption, …
The pattern is valid almost everywhere. Very few of the idealistic sort, comes into power, they are to nice and weak. But those who can, often play with un hidden agenda. And they are smart enough, to fool everyone in their neighborhood. You have discovered one of the tricky thing being a human..

against my better judgement, i've decided to share the following as a response to guy pierce passing and the announcement of the elimination of district overseers later this year.. late in january (2014) i got an email from one of my contacts (a fader) who served at bethel for several years, but is no longer at wt hq.
he still has a lot of close contacts within the service department and in other departments at patterson and knows people in all of the ny offices.
i kept this email set aside on a flash drive and haven't shared it with anyone - figuring i'd publish an article about it later this year when i had more time to do it right.
quoting neverendingjourney:
Let's not forget that the men on the GB won a decades-long competition designed to reward the most loyal company men and status quo seekers. They've been selected for their aversion to change. Had they demonstrated the inclination to think creatively or shown independent thinking, they would have been weeded out at the CO or ambitious young Bethelite level.
This is exactly how totalitarian states are built. remember communism, Stalinism, Maoism, Pol Pot, Hitler and some euoporean states during 1800-1900 centuries. "rewarding the most loyal". scratch my back, and Ill scratch yours....
The wholly spirits is actually working....
