is death an end, a beginning, or just another stage on the path?
i watched a movie last night called the eye 2. it was about the buddhist belief in reincarnation.
in the movie, souls wait for women to give birth in order to reincarnate into the baby.

before god began creating.......he wasn't a creator.. before god began creating.....there was nothing......and therefore nothing to know.. before god began creating...there was nothing and nothing to know....and therefore nothing to love.. before god began creating...he was alone with nothing to distinguish him from nothingness except--what?
his mind?
filled with what, actually?.
BEFORE God began creating.......he wasn't a CREATOR.
He was but he CHOSE not to be. Get it?
BEFORE God began creating.....there was nothing......and therefore nothing TO KNOW.
He knew but he CHOSE not to know. Get it?
BEFORE God began creating...there was nothing and nothing to know....and therefore nothing to LOVE.
He chose not to love that which didnt exist because he chose for it not to exist. Get it?
BEFORE God began creating...He was alone with nothing to distinguish him from nothingness except--what? His mind? Filled with what, actually?
He CHOSE not to be filled. Although he wasn't empty either because he chose not to be empty. Get it?
So if Gold is almighty can he create a rock that is so heavy that he could not lift it?
Of course he could he would just choose not to lift it.
everyday, that i read, write, think and talk about the watchtower society makes me think whether or not i have really left it for good.. .
i fail to see the good in reliving the past in this way.
the discussion board features individuals that have 3 to 6 years on the board and individuals who have left the organization more.
Simon, I agree with you point completely. Some people seem to be bitter about things and after many years they are still affected by the WT - still victims. As I say they have left the main building but are still wandering the gardens of the estate. On the other hand there are others though (Englishman comes to mind) who left years ago and is genuinely friendly and even though he has been out for years he is just one of the guys and has lots of friends wherever he goes. Good post though. BTW I havent been around much but wanted to say welcome to the other side of the pond. I'm happy for you and your family that you are settling in. Regards, Donkey
the most complicated, transcendant (outside of time and space) mind in the universe is the universe.. that is an antimony, by the way.. this mind we can call "god".
it simply "is".. what the consciousness of this mind considers is more real than the dreams we have or the plans we make.. that is the premise of what follows.
read on..... this mind (all) is considering creating heavens and earth.
Great theory...
So try this:
Put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger.
If you die you aren't really dead - right?
If you survive - it didn't really hurt - right?
If you end up as a vegetable you aren't any more retarded than the rest of us who would not do this - right?
Since nothing is real there is no way you can dispute my post because it doesn't really exist anyway (please mods don't delete it since it's not there anyway -OK!!)
Jack
how did you get to the point where you are at now?
was it primarily new information that made you rethink religion and god?
learning about the ice age, the universe, the fossils out there?
Hitler was just like the Biblical God.
You did what he wanted or you died. He had an ego as large as the god in the bible and demanded exclusive devotion. He decided to punish the Jews for their past transgressions - just like God kept doing everytime the nation did not follow him. On the other hand he promised you that you would rule the world if you followed him.
Does everyone else perceive God as a sociopath too? Or will he kill you if you think about it?
i'm currently reading richard dawkin's book the ancestor's tale and it suddenly struck me that evolutionists believe all men are equal seeing that we all came from a common ancestor.
that being the case, would it not serve man to believe in evolution?.
turn on the t.v.
Good point and post, Dansk.
It further leads one to ask: Are men above animals? Should they all be equal - all have the same right to life or inversely the same right to dominate/prey on each other?
just an fyi for anyone interested - there is a major drive on to push the bill forward for national healthcare in the usa.
you can sign the petition by going to http://www.onecarenow.org/.. it has gone through one part of the process last year and now the push is on to get it moved to the next level - it is backed by over 400 groups including the uaw i believe.
it is no longer if it happens, it is only a matter of time as to when it happens.
I'm embarrassed that the U.S. would treat it's citizens this way.
You make it sound like they are mistreated pets. Sorry they don't belong to me and I'm not responsible for them.
Everyone wanting a free ride? At WHOSE expense? There is no moral obligation on behalf of anyone to pay the way for anyone else. Why not get a sign and stand at a traffic light that says: YOU OWE ME FOOD; IT IS MY RIGHT!! Watch everyone stop and feed you....
The same is true with all these other financial demands.
That being said I do feel for those who cannot afford healthcare or those struggling to pay exhorbitant bills. While I strongly believe you have no right to demand that the rest of us pay for your healthcare I believe just as strongly that it is immoral that the legal system (blood sucking lawyer leaches and pany-ass judges) has been allowed to hurt people in this way. Therefore if I take you first sentence, the one I quoted above, I would rewite it as:
America has allowed unfettered legal exploitation of its industries, especially healthcare, to the point where these industries are experiencing a crisis and the ordinary citizens are suffering at the expense of this travesty. Unfortuantely, these citizens are now at the point where they are wanting to socialize healthcare without looking at the root cause of the problem - f****G greedy lawyers that have messed up the system for all concerned.

FunkyD - great point but then others expect everyone to care for them. I am amazed at how many xJWs seem to feel they have the right to mooch off the rest of society.
LT:
The problem is more complex than just healthcare in the US. Looking at it in isolation (the litigious environment needs to be considered for it to be successful) will not fix the issue.Enjoy National Healthcare, and enjoy the skyrocketing unemployment rate, and enjoy the rampant government waste.Hmmm. That would be a slippery slope fallacy. Seen plenty of them while in the JWs, and continue to see plenty of them now...
Believe it or not, the NHS didn't cause overwhelming unemployment, rather it became the biggest employer in the whole of Europe...

You are right - but millions should not be penalized because of one profession. This issue has been addressed in many of the reports and what has been noted is that the number of lawsuits in the USA exceeds that of any other country that has national healthcare. The belief or rationale is that the laws in all of those countries are different regarding this issue and the availability of service itself, reduces and/or eliminates the need for as many law suits. I'm not saying there are never any - but the numbers are extremely minimal by comparison. If I'm not mistaken, Bush has already passed or put in motion, limits on lawsuits from malpractice etc, so that issue will have cleared itself when national health care is implemented. swife.
Irrespective - defensive medicine (perform all the other expensive tests just in case you miss something and aren't sued for millions upon millions) is the rule of the day. Defensive medicine is not free and someone has to pay for it. Who pays for it? America pays for it in aggregate as you can see by the rising costs of Healthcare for all. The doctor/labs/hospital/radiologists etc all charge for the extra procedures and the additional documentation required BY LAW to show no malpractice has occurred. These costs are then "covered" by insurers (for those insured) and the patient/patient family. All because we have an unlimited upside in lawsuits and we are in need of tort reform. Other countries make fun of the US because it is so sue happy and the lawsuits are out of control - thats the root cause of the spiraling costs. But guess what lawyers run Washington....do you really think they are going to do anything or allow anything that will rock their gravy boat? Do you think with national healthcare we would still have the lawsuits up the wazoo? Who would pay for that? The other alternative has the legal profession lobbying against your national healthcare too - together with the other lobbies this is a powerful force and the corruption in Washington will always win.

When Australia got its national health care I would have voted against it I inherantly shy against socialist policies by governments. Now i would absolutely support it in Australia as Ive mentioned before we pay one and a half percent of our income and that pays for excellent health care for everyone. The sort of numbers I see on here for health insurance are absolute robbery.
When my wife went to hospital to give birth she got a privcate ward in a modern hospital, the best of care the first one being a ceasure the second natural. When checking out we signed a paper to say everything was payed by our one and a half percent yearly contribution. Mums also get 4 thousand per child to increase the birth rate. A problem in most western countries these days.
You know what? If we had the same system as Australi does I would support it too. The problem ISN't Healthcare. The problem is LAWYERS. When we combine the lawyers into the mix healthcare costs sky rocket. Australia doesn't have that problem. As much as I disdain socialism I would support the system if the root causes were fixed at the same time. Unfortunately you will find (behind closed doors) that the lobbyists against a national healthcare system are the legal lobbies because they know we can't have it both ways. Cynical fool I am.
