  If you would care to get over your personal dislike for me and actually read what I wrote and comprehend it then you would see I wrote exactly what YOU advocate.

  When you quoted me out of context and remarked: "Bollocks" I happened to agrre with what you say. I agree with STOPPING flame wars, I always have. I disagree with censoring certain words because someone might find them offensive because that is so subjective eg. putting up a logo in your avatar that says Impeach Bush is no less offensive to SOME as is the "F" word to others or saying "JW's are evil to others".

  As far as my opinions on the technical side of the site: It is the best piece of technical work on a message board around - you have done a terrific job of the technical side. (I would like additional features such as the ability to turn-off the ability to have others PM me for my own reasons - esp since the PM's are not private and can be used against posters). But I salute you on the accomplishment.

  I think this kind of comment ignores those who came out of the Borg due to their own thinking powers, especially those who left without the aid of the internet

  Thanks for adding that. You do make a great point because that is exactly what happened to me. I "left" first and then I discovered the "apostate" web sites.

  The problem I have is that moderation has killed the freedom of speech. While I agree with some type of control when the flame wars are errupting, I feel as though petty moderation has been something which has killed the interest/desire for many to post here any longer.

  Take two examples:

  JWO: there is zero moderation and the site is a wasteland. It is filled with Nazi Bullcrap(I would have liked to use the S word) and flamewars are the thing of the day every day.

  Then take Kent's board: There is little to no moderation of cuss words that etc, however there is moderation of flamewars etc. While the board does not have huge membership the quality and depth of the posts is the highest I have seen on any board in the last year.

  I am of a changed opinion. Moderation is needed but censorship is not.

  these are sponsored by a religious book publishing corporation that claims to be divinely directed but denies it's writings are inspired.

  it used to be managed by those who claimed to be of those remaining of 144,000 anointed but they quit their corporate positions in 2000.. .

  Why do you try to minimize what TR said? Your almost snide remark (how I interpereted it) pissed me off immediately.

  Life goes on. Yeah, I suppose so. If it was not for thinkers and people who were able to come up with resoned arguments against the JW cult then all we would have left now are a sorry bunch of cry babies.

  This situation kind of reminds me of a battle between 2 soldiers where the white knight slays the black knight. Then the white knight is smitten with an unknowable disease (a foe he cannot fight). The white knight dies and then the maggots move in and suck all the remaining goodness from his flesh.

  What happens when all the flesh is gone? Then the maggots die too.

  Sex in the New Book "Learn from the Great Teacher"

  i just obtained a copy of one of the new releases from the summer jw district conventions, learn from the great teacher.

  this book is oriented towards children, and frankly, is a stereotypical piece of propaganda from the "faithful and discreet slave".

  in some ways the book is incredibly revealing, since it has to break down a number of ridiculous jw teachings into a form that even jw children can swallow, and when those teachings are put into simplest form their ridiculousness is evident to everyone but small children and stereotypically braindead jws.

  Networking question

  this is probably a stupid question but can you set up a client server network with xppro or are you limited to simply peer to peer.

  The default file sharing in XP is called Simple File sharing whereby you share the files to other users.

  You can, however, set up file sharing on a Workgroup with ACL privileges on the file shares.

  If you truly want to get into heavy duty stuff then I siggest you get a server, install Win2k or Win2003 server on it and setup a domain and have fun Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (I don't know how much you know or are interested in this).

  If however you want to enable internet connection sharing then I recommend a router and do the sharing from there. If you use a domain controller then you will need to setup Proxy Server or ISA server to get out (this involves server and client installation).

  Have fun and yell if you have any specific questions.
